1,000,000 Visits… And I Thank You All!

It’s hard for me to imagine that this little website called ArrowheadOne has reached 1,000,000 visits in 17 months… much less… ever! I didn’t start this site to do anything but to pursue my passion of writing about my favorite team. The next thing I know, writers are coming to me and asking if they can write for AO (thank you berttheclock for all the recruiting you have done. BTW, bert’s real name is P…… I better not tell you).

The one million visits is all about our writers. I believe we have some of the best Kansas City Chiefs writers anywhere, paid or unpaid. As you probably already know, all of us at ArrowheadOne are unpaid writers. You’ll notice some of our writers use Patreon, so you can donate to them if you please.

I want to especially thank every writer who is or has ever written for ArrowheadOne.

Ransom Hawthorne (Chiefly Bacon)– your pieces are always insightful and your ability to scour the lower rounds of the draft for hidden diamonds is amazing. Ransom skills of evaluating talent is next to none and he did a series of articles last offseason covering prospects in every single position group called, “Chiefly Bacon’s Lazy Big Board.” Ransom also posts regularly on Twitter and you can follow him –> here. Thank you Ransom. It’s a privilege.

Frank Leggio (The Rub)- Frank not only writes for us all year long but is the one responsible for setting us up on Apple News as well as the game counter. So, if you have Apple News on your phone you can read our articles there too. If not, download it. Frank not only writes great pieces like the one he just did in which he details his travel from Columbus, Ohio to Arrowhead Stadium to take in a Chiefs game every year called, “Arrowhead Observations: From the Cheap Seats” but Frank is also one of our moderators… so watch out when he’s online. He can ban you too. hehehe… just kidding… but no, really, he is a moderator and he does have that power. I also love Frank’s pieces because… they require nearly no editing. 🙂 Thank you Frank!

John Dillman (Saturday Sum Up and Asinine Predictions By An Anonymous Idiot Lovingly Written By John Dillman and other pieces)- John’s wit and sense of humor are a breath of fresh air in the stale and sometimes way too serious world of K.C Chiefs football analysis. John’s creativity is greatly under-appreciated and his ability to write on a wide range of subjects shows his depth of knowledge. If you didn’t get to read his piece a couple of weeks ago called, “Lord of the West” check it out. Many thanks to you John.

David Bell (NSLU: No Stone Left Unturned)– talk about “depth of knowledge” David Bell goes deep in each of his NSLU pieces to bring an understanding of Chiefs issues not previously known to Chiefs fans. David sets the record straight about what the story is behind the facts and stats. Plus, Mr. Bell delves into the history of each issue at hand and gives his no frills take. Thank you David, thank you!

Jason Seibel (Direct Snap and Anatomy of a Touchdown)– Jason has moved on to higer educational pursuits and we wish him all the best. Jason is a top notch writer and his “Anatomy” breakdowns were some of the most enjoyed here at AO. Thank you Jason and well wishes.

Merlin (Guide to the Kingdom)– Merlin is an occasional writer here at AO but his depth of experience as a long time Chiefs writer is apparent every time you read his stuff. Your wisdom abounds! Thank you Merlin.

Paul Heitman (The Chop)– Paul’s busy work schedule keeps him from writing for AO now but when he did, his personal anecdotes and ability to “turn a phrase” were incredibly entertaining. Thank you Paul! Godspeed.

Frank Rodela (Rodela’s Read on the Chiefs)– Frank’s work schedule also keeps him from posting but his unique take on all thing Chiefs was refreshing and poignant. One of Frank’s first pieces called, “Is Alex Smith Looking Over His Shoulder” will always be memorable! Thank you Frank for all your contributions!

Brandon Chester (Chester’s Chiefs)– Brandon was the first writer to ask if he could be a regular contributor to AO. Brandon is now off to serve in the Peace Corp and we wish him the best. Brandon had an unbridled passion for the Chiefs and stuck to his stats like a fly to fly paper. Maybe we’ll see Brandon again some day. Thank you Brandon.

Randy Murawski- (An Arrowhead Adventurer/Welcome to Arrowhead)– Randy loves to write about his adventures at Arrowhead on game days. He is an occasional writer here at AO and his pieces are poetic and give insight into the real human experience, be it as a fan or a player. Thank you for your exclusive takes Randy!

John Cooney (Eye in the Sky Report)– John has made a living running his own Fantasy Football website called, Pass2Win.com. John has written infrequently for AO but remains a good friend. His ability to value players across the league and compare them to Chiefs players is unparalleled. Thank you John, so very much.

Ladner Morse (Editor and Chief, owner)– my story begins with failing first grade when my parents moved from one school district to another in the middle of my first grade year. I was being taught to read with the “Dick and Jane” method (See Jane run. Run, run, run. Repetitive teaching of reading) and the school district we moved to was using the new “phonics” method (Ba, ba, ba, ball. Sounding every thing out). So, I grew up a “flunky”… and was treated like the “stupid” kid on the block.

Coming full circle, I became a teacher and received my Master’s Degree in Reading Instruction. However, when I was in school as a kid, they didn’t know how to diagnose dyslexia so I have lived my life with that and to this day I can’t type the word “the” without typing “hte.” It’s a bit of irony for me because, now I spend a great deal of time editing others work.

Many of you know I retired, after 39 years of teaching in June and moved back to K.C. in September. However, I have never been so busy as I have been since I retired: 1) prepping the house to sell, 2) packing and moving, 3) searching for a home for months, 4) working on a fixer upper… plus dealing with all that goes into retiring.

AO, in the future, will have some advertising on it because you’d be shocked at how little a teacher’s pension provides. I may need to go back to work, just so I can stay retired! (Ha!… but no one here is laughing!).

Thank you to everyone who has come to ArrowheadOne and especially the bloggers who contribute their opinions. So many of you are like family to me now. Thank you, thank you!. Go Chiefs! And by the way, YES… he’s coming to town… and NO, I’m not talking about Patrick Mahomes.
