Are You Kidding Me?

Screen Shot 2016-07-24 at 9.35.52 PMEvery now and then in life there are these situations that come up and for one reason or another you find yourself mumbling these word, “Are you kidding me?” Well, the National Football League can leave fans with that feeling… perhaps more these days than in the past. So, let’s take a look at some of those moments and we’ll see if you can identify.

From ProFootballTalk comes this quote by Jerry Jones,

“Cowboys owner and General Manager Jerry Jones said that Foles “isn’t an option” and said the team preferred the backup quarterback it had, Kellen Moore. Then Moore got hurt, and the Cowboys suddenly had interest in Foles.”

Many of you know that I live in the Dallas area and every time I turn on sports talk here for the past week I’ve had to listen to talk about how the Cowboys “should” sign Nick Foles. That’s why one week ago when Foles was released by the Rams and Jones stuck his foot in his mouth for the… oh God, never mind, I stopped counting… times I had this reaction:

Are You Kidding Me?

When the league dealt with Aldon Smith last November for violating the substance abuse policy they tagged him with a one-year suspension. You might have thought that would be enough to keep a high profile top shelf playmaker like Smith off of the junk and out of the public eye. However, he was caught posting a live feed video while smoking a questionable substance. In the video he is talking to his girlfriend while he’s denying that anyone will know it’s him, because they can’t see his face… then… he ends the video by saying, “Baby they don’t know it’s me. It’s not like I put Aldon Smi….” Of course, Smith denies that it is him in the video. That led me to think to myself:

Are You Kidding Me?

The whole Brady vs. the NFL and Roger Goodell was one big “Are You Kidding Me?” slug-fest which was won by no one. The end result has me wondering if Roger Goodell can now go unchecked when handing out suspension and penalties like he did to the Chiefs in the last draft. When Kansas City was dealt the loss of two draft picks as the result of a so-called tampering charge which was handed down AFTER the tampering period had ended this year…. AND because it was handed down ONE YEAR LATER left me screaming:

Are You Kidding Me?

Screen Shot 2016-08-05 at 12.28.01 AMIn an interview with Jason Pierre-Paul for the NYDailyNews about his injured hand sustained in a firecracker accident one year ago on the 4th of July, they stated,

“Pierre-Paul offered no apologies and few words of regret in his first interview since blowing up his hand in a July 4 fireworks accident. He declared himself a better player with nothing to prove, and explained that his lack of communication with the Giants was simply the consequence of medication.”

You might be thinking by now that I say this too much to myself but it comes out when the situation deserves it and every time I think of Jason Pierre-Paul it rears its ugly head:

Are You Kidding Me?

A number of offseason ranking systems have the Kansas City Chiefs fairly low and behind teams like the Denver Broncos. Some outlets have even predicted the Oakland Raiders to finish the 2016 season ahead of the Kansas City Chiefs. That got me shaking my head because how can the Chiefs have 9 players who were ranked by their peers on the Top 100 list… and that’s not counting Dontari Poe (who had a down year) nor does it count their new right tackle Mitchell Schwartz (accepted widely as the best or second best RT in the game)… and still not be ranked at the top of the AFC? When sports media services of any kind have K.C. ranked lower than 1, 2 or 3 in the AFC for 2016 it makes me think:

Are You Kidding Me?

What do you think Chiefs fans? What has happened that has you saying this to yourself:

Are You Kidding Me?
