ARROWHEADONE CHIEFS WEEK 12: GAME THREAD

It is finally here. We all circled our calendars before the season began and said this is the game the Chiefs must win to show they are now the new dominant team in the AFC West. The 7-3 Kansas City Chiefs are traveling to meet the 7-3 Broncos in Denver and in some ways the timing could not be worse for the Chiefs. While the strength of Kansas City’s team has been its defense, the onslaught of injuries make them susceptible to the Denver rushing attack which is all their offense has going for it. In the meantime, the Broncos Defense is getting players back from injury and appears to be as healthy as they’ve been since opening day. In fact, general manager John Elway has recently signed his Safety Darian Stewart to a 4-year extension locking up all the key players in one of the best secondaries… if not in the league… then in recent memory.

The Chiefs are looking to get their offense untracked and at the same time are hoping their defense can piece things together enough to shut down the Denver offense and give their own offense a chance to win one for a change… instead of having to win it on the back of the many turnovers they usually create. However, it looks like it might take a multiple-turnover game by the Chiefs D to help the offense win this one.

The Broncos are 3.5 point favorites going into this contest but NFL.com says Denver wins only 52.8% of the time. All five writers at USA Today say the Broncos come out on top but that’s no surprise since USA Today rarely likes the Chiefs. Only one out of eight writers at CBS Sports has taken the Chiefs. At NFL.com Bucky Brooks is taking the Chiefs while Daniel Jeremiah says he thinks that K.C. has a better team but he’s picking Denver.

I have picked the Chiefs all year long but my gut (which is way too big after a substantial Thanksgiving celebration) says that it’s going to be Denver 21, Kansas 20… or 23 if Santos makes all his FG tries. Yes, today you can call me Mr. Waffle (and no, this is not a commercial for The Waffle House).

So, what do you think Chiefs fans? Have any “waffley” type predictions you’d like to share?
