Follow @arrowhead_one       After lunch at Q39 (awesome BBQ and great service), then a visit to the WW1 Museum, we have arrived and are in the early stages of tailgating here at the greatest stadium in earth.   Weather is beautiful. A sunny 65 degrees. Winds are perfect. Not chilling us to the bone, but carrying the sweet smells of barbecue across the lots. I have probably gained 5 pounds from the smells alone.   I am here with my two sons, one a guest writer here on…

Follow @arrowhead_one       This week I was watching the game thinking we were maintaining the consistency we had established over the prior six weeks. The team has consistently been inconsistent. Whether it was the offense playing well and then not.  Or, the defense holding the other team out of the end zone in one half and then giving up all kinds of yardage and points in the second half. Or scoring too quickly and scoring all kinds of points the week after we barely hit double digits. It…

Follow @arrowhead_one       I am not in the mood to write some in depth analytical piece. Nor am I in the mood to write about the dumpster fire we have been watching the last 7 games. Instead, I thought I would write about a couple of aspects of this last game that stood out to me. They are good, bad, and for consideration. You decide which applies to them.   The numbers we need to consider are, in no particular order, 17:11, 3, 13-20, and 8      …

Follow @arrowhead_one     This season has been a series of performing beyond expectations against some very good teams and way underperforming against rather poor teams. It can be maddening at times. How can we beat the Patriots in New England and lose to the Giants?    We have some top talent at numerous positions, but it seems to be misused. We stopped doing what works and forgot about key players at times. We play conservative when we should be taking a chance or we take chances when the game…

Follow @arrowhead_one     Over the last 4 weeks we have gotten starting players back from injury. We have played opponents we should beat, at least on paper. The offense and defense look different than the first five games. We seem to have shifted the game plan from playing to win into playing to not lose. That isn’t the DNA of this team.   I wrote before about noticing how we aren’t using the speed of our offense the same way. We aren’t putting the players in motion like before.…

Follow @arrowhead_one       Here we are midway through the season. We started off 5-0, then dropped 2. Up next, divisions rival Denver Broncos. Dropping 3 would be bad, since 2 would be division games. KC needed to come in and get back to basics. Aggressive offense, defense, and special teams.  No getting away from the play makers. No “Bend don’t Break.” We have some of the most dominant players in the game. Turn them loose.   Unfortunately, the Broncos bring fan favorite Jamaal Charles with them. While I…

Follow @arrowhead_one     From shortly after kickoff, I had an awful feeling. It was part reflection on prior games versus the Steelers and part realization of statistics. I was feeling like this was the week we lose. It was some combination of us winning 5 in a row with the dominance of Pittsburgh over us. I had concerns.   I watched the first half and was disgusted with our offense and defense. Offensively, we had nothing going. Defensively, we couldn’t stop Bell or Brown. This was so offensive because…
