Chiefs At Cowboys: OPEN THREAD

It’s prediction time and I’m picking the Chiefs to win this one by a score of 31-to-21. Apparently, I’m not the only one who thinks the Chiefs will be winning big.

Here’s what the folks over at ESPN are thinking:

Here’s what the brain trust at CBS Sports are thinking about the game:

How about what the Football Gurus over at Sports Illustrated?

I’m going to give Gil Brandt a break on this one (he worked as Vice President of player personnel for the Dallas Cowboys from 1960 to 1988) but he’d change his mind for sure if he had to bet his life on it.

What’s your prediction? And no… you don’t have to bet your life on it!

No surprise about Prisco picking Chiefs to lose. Any game that is thought to be close with the Chiefs, he will always pick the Chiefs to lose.

    • ladner morse

Yep. Never really been a Prisco fan.

      • mnelson52

He’s done nothing to make me like him, mainly because he’s wrong a lot. How can anybody be wrong that much and still remain that arrogant?

        • berttheclock

Most of his bets are against the spread.

  • Chiefs: 34-24

  • berttheclock

Attention, John Dillman. Ballard picking up Brissett from the Pats was not a bad move. The Colts will still draft a QB high in the 1st round next April, but, notice, Brissett was 20 of 30 for 308 yards and 2 TDs (of course, having Hilton take one 80 yards helped). On the other hand, neither Savage nor their other new QB can run the read option for the Texans.

  • berttheclock

Hate to say it, but, I believe the only way the Chiefs can win today is to keep scoring and never let up. The Cowboys with Zeke running and Bryant being healthy will be very tough to stop.

    • ladner morse

How can I disagree. That being said… I think the Chiefs will trash their D.

    • mnelson52

Just because of Bryant and Elliot running the ball to control the clock and keep Smith on the sidelines, I think Chiefs lose. Chiefs have had no answer against the run against any team. Only time Chiefs don’t give up a lot of yards rushing is when a team goes stupid and doesn’t rush much.

  • JimHarbaughsguys

Watching Foster playing now, and damn, KC’s D would really be better vs the run with him.
2 straight stuffs in the redzone that came from nowhere.

    • mnelson52

When I 1st heard that Chiefs were moving up in round 1 of the draft, I thought it was to get Foster.

  • berttheclock

Hey, young Mr Veach. Did you happen to notice Ajayi scored a TD for Philly today? Did you notice he is still on his rookie contract and the Dolphins are going to pick up half of his salary? Did you happen to notice last week was the time NFL GMs could really improve their respective teams for the playoffs? Well, did ‘ya?

    • Merlin

Bert that really isn’t fair. You don’t know what trade conversations Veach had, if any.

      • JimHarbaughsguys

        Sure we bet about it
How about trading away half of the D players and the OL players to get one good OL player or LB who makes tackles near the LOS, not 20 yards downfield.

  • mnelson52

    nice tackle Rag man

  • ladner morse

    Ragland to the rescue

  • mnelson52

    3rd and short again

  • Merlin

    Zombo!

  • mnelson52

Stupid to pass, but I’ll take it

  • Heilios

    Zombo!

  • JimHarbaughsguys

Thankfully Dallas decided to pass it on 3rd and 1

    • Heilios

They wanted to try and get cute

      • JimHarbaughsguys

They know it is not a beauty contest don’t they?

  • ladner morse

    Z man!

    • Merlin

      Have you had one yet?

  • Heilios

Good stop D! Now capitalize on it Smith!

    • mnelson52

      Didn’t happen

  • mnelson52

I read somewhere, or had a dream (lol) that Dallas has been successful on all 4th and short they have tried this year. Today would be a good time to put an end to that.

  • Heilios

Is it just me or does everyone hate draw plays?

  • Heilios

A Canadian bringing the nastiness back to the oline?

  • Heilios

    Well crap

    • Heilios

      False start

  • mnelson52

I agree there should have been a flag. He was hanging on Kelce

  • Heilios

    That was a high punt!

    • JimHarbaughsguys

Are they in a dome with the roof closed? Or did he hit the screen?

  • mnelson52

    Time for a turnover

    • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

I would settle for a three and out

  • mnelson52

    liked that

  • Heilios

    JPL!

  • Heilios

Good stop again D! I like that we are playing our base 3-4 and stopping the run!

  • mnelson52

My game is now being interrupted till severe weather passes

  • JimHarbaughsguys

Was DAT in there to return the punt?

    • mnelson52

      yep

  • Chiefly Bacon

I tried to tell people not to panic about Dallas.

    • JimHarbaughsguys

      Tell the KC OL

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

    Too predictable Reid….come on man!

  • mnelson52

judging from the weather report, Im probably losing satellite soon

    • JimHarbaughsguys

      Where do you live?

      • mnelson52

        SE Missouri

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

    Babe row

  • tm1946

Any idea what the offense is doing…. run Hunt or side line passes?

  • Chiefly Bacon

Terrible play calling. Chiefs playing scared.

  • mnelson52

We’re losing the field position battle

  • JimHarbaughsguys

Why isn’t KC passing it anywhere near the marker?

    • mnelson52

      Not Reids style

    • Dave

looking like the old Alex Smith Chiefs

    • tm1946

Probably wrong but looks like Reid/OC is trying to see what Dallas D is doing…. not exactly taking what you want.

      • mnelson52

So far their D is doing 3 and outs on us.

  • tm1946

    Peters trailing…. way to play.

  • Dave

offense play calling is definitely because they are scared of the Dallas pass rush

    • JimHarbaughsguys

Then perhaps KC should have gotten some OL help

      • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

        Who?

        • JimHarbaughsguys

Clearly just about anybody else other than those who they have. Can’t pass or run block very well.

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

    Peters laid up again

  • Chiefly Bacon

    Peters is killing us.

    • Dave

typical he is a ball hawk sure but he cant cover anyone

    • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

With his talent…..to bad he didn’t have Sorensons heart.

  • Dave

Houston is not playing its been Hali and Zombo for a couple plays now

  • mnelson52

    That sucked

  • Heilios

    Acker fell down

  • Chiefly Bacon

Get Acker off the field. Dude is WAY too slow.

    • tm1946

Just WTF would you run out there? We are down to Gaines.

      • Chiefly Bacon

Mitchell is our best option outside Peters and Nelson, but even Gaines, might be better than Acker.

    • Dave

yea put in Mitchell oh wait he sucks, no put in Gaines wait he blows too….

  • Dave

and there is our terrible DBs again

  • Dave

If Houston is done we are losing this in a blow out

    • JimHarbaughsguys

      Why?
Besides the Denver game, what game has Houston had a huge positive impact in?

      • Dave

they don’t have to chip block or double team anyone but Houston

        • JimHarbaughsguys

If you’re a great pass rusher, you should expect to be doubled on every play, and still dominate

Ask Reggie White, Derric Thomas about that.

          • Dave

missing the point it frees up an offensive player when Houston is not playing. Anyone can block Zombie

          • JimHarbaughsguys

Those other guys aren’t getting pressure/sacks with Houston in there either. So, no difference there.

    • tm1946

Houston has had 2 – 3 games worth his salary since he got hurt. May not be healthy or whatever, like CBs we are down to air.

  • Chiefly Bacon

D looks rough, but they’ve been on the field a lot. Chiefs offense two straight 3 and outs.

  • mnelson52

I hope when they kick off we don’t run it out. At least that way we can make it to our own 25. That is if there’s no penalty

    • Dave

knowing the Chiefs it will be three and out anyway

  • tm1946

This may be a blessing in disguise…. Reid will have to come out of his shell on offense or game is over before the half.

    • Dave

      lol

      • JimHarbaughsguys

It’s not unreasonable. Both teams were playing tight, then one scores, and it opens up the game a bit more for both offenses.

        That is common.

  • mnelson52

    finally a 1st

  • Heilios

    Good scramble Smith

  • mnelson52

    Running down Hill—is impossible

  • Heilios

    VIVA LA JET SWEEP!

    • JimHarbaughsguys

      VUVA?

  • Chiefly Bacon

Will the real Alex Smith please stand up? Cause this wuss ain’t gettin us no place.

  • tm1946

Early but I am not all that impressed.

  • Dave

Oh no is the new Alex gone? Is it captain Check Down again?

  • JimHarbaughsguys

    1. Stop passing to Harris
    2. Cut Harris
    3. Hire lead cheerleader to catch the ball

  • mnelson52

Have we had any 3rd and short yet

  • Merlin

    ugh

    • Dave

Chiefs will end up 10-6 or so

      • mnelson52

That will Still win the division but will need the Smith, the receivers, and the RB of games 1-5 to win a playoff game

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

    Embarrassing

  • Chiefly Bacon

To lose this game, Chiefs will have to beat themselves. Unfortunately, they seem dead set on doing so.

  • mnelson52

    Pitiful

  • tm1946

Am sure we will still win but looks a lot like steelers game to me. We will go out and do our thing and lose…. fire up the bus so we can get to the airport on time.

  • berttheclock

Terrell was worthless when he was with Seattle. All he has is some speed. Bad pickup by Veach.

  • Heilios

Wow. So that just happened. Instead of starting on the 1 yard line give them the 20

  • Dave

Offense has to win the games whenever we come across any decent QB because everyone know the weakness is Gaines, Mitchell and Acker.

  • Chiefly Bacon

Chiefs look like they needed a bye week three weeks ago.

  • berttheclock

The Cowboys still have not solved that sun glare.

  • Heilios

    Terrell is a joke

  • Heilios

Man we are blowing up the run today. I’m surprised

    • tm1946

Yep, and that 7-0 score could hold up

  • Heilios

Is Mitchell hurt? Why is Acker playing opposite Peters?

    • Merlin

      he started against the Broncos

    • tm1946

Mitchell might be in Reid dog house… of course, no one is asking the Chiefs about this. Besides Acker qualifies as “re-inforcements are on the way”

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

    Sun glare cost Butler that

    • berttheclock

Yet, for non-football events, they put up curtains.

  • mnelson52

Finally good field position to start. Would be real good if we had downed it at the one.

  • Dave

I still don’t understand how we went into the season with such horrible DBs outside of Peters and then do nothing at the trade deadline to help when it is proved they are so so bad

    • berttheclock

Because Dorsey read all of the pundits saying last year’s draft was heavy in quality D-Bs and he wanted to prove them wrong.

      • berttheclock

At 27, Buffalo took a quality D-Back from LSU.

    • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

      Money…..lack of it

    • tm1946

And….. Peters is smoking the offenses?

      • Dave

well he isn’t bad just not as elite as everyone thinks

  • Heilios

It is good to see Hali back and putting pressure on the QB

    • Dave

i swear the Chiefs were just putting up a smoke screen Hali is fine

  • Heilios

They should close up that some and eliminate the stupid glare

  • Heilios

Good catch Robinson. Get smith out of the glare spot

  • mnelson52

    Use Robinson more

  • JimHarbaughsguys

They are running Hill too much.

    • Merlin

Hill it built pretty solid, but I get nervous seeing him run between the tackles.

      • JimHarbaughsguys

They shouldn’t do it every game. It should be a rare thing.

    • tm1946

Only down 7, got to keep trying to run…. now get down 14 ???

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

Robinson sighting….need to get him involved

  • Heilios

    Good burst Hunt!

  • Heilios

    Man Schwartz false start

    • JimHarbaughsguys

      sucks

  • tm1946

Apparently we are going WC…. throw short and expect receiver to run for yardage….. hell I do not know.

  • Chiefly Bacon

This playcalling is a pile of @#$.

  • Heilios

    That was offsides!

    • Heilios

      Nope nevermind

  • JimHarbaughsguys

3rd and forever near the 20

  • mnelson52

    Going wrong direction

    • tm1946

What Reid did against steelers… just waited for the game to be over.

    • JimHarbaughsguys

      10 yards lost on penalties.

  • Heilios

Dallas is the best pass rush we’ve seen in a long time? Better than Denver? Doubt that.

    • Dave

Best Dallas has had in a long time he was saying

      • Heilios

        Oh I misheard him them

    • berttheclock

Irving and Lawrence are both healthy.

      • Dave

irving the guy signed off our practice squad crazy stuff

  • Chiefly Bacon

Is there some rule against throwing to your WRs that I don’t know about?

    • Heilios

Not allowed for the first half for Reid coached teams

    • Dave

its called Alex is back to a scared little kitten

      • tm1946

With his OL false starting…. might be a good idea.

        • JimHarbaughsguys

Add to that the false blocking.

      • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

Alex stays healthy and throws zero INTs……it’s called smart.

        • Dave

yea say that when you lose to the Steelers in the playoffs even when our D keeps them out of the end zone the whole game

          • JimHarbaughsguys

You can go 2-14 instead of making the playoffs if you like

          • Homer Dave

and it’s the exact same end result. It’s cresting the plateau that is difficult, not travelling to the bottom of it.

          • JimHarbaughsguys

As a fan of a team that went 2-14 just last year, and likely not any better if not worse this year, I will say there is a substantial difference between the two.

Watching a 2-14 team is hard. Watching a playoff contender is not. I was laughing at the Niners empty stadium to start the game. I don’t do that when I follow a KC game.

          • Homer Dave

I can get behind some of that. Watching a bad team be bad is not near as traumatic as watching a potential contender not meet there potential.

    • JimHarbaughsguys

      3rd and 19..
Shoulnd’t have gotten yourself into that long of a spot.

      • Chiefly Bacon

Not just one play though. We have like one catch by a WR.

        • mnelson52

At least the one was a 1st down

        • JimHarbaughsguys

          How many does Dallas have?
Both QB’s have similar stats. Difference is that one didn’t go backwards with self inflicted penalties in the redzone.

          • Dave

and Dallas doesn’t have the absolute crap players in Gaines, MIttchell and Acker

  • Heilios

    Butker is automatic!

  • berttheclock

The KC Juggernaut is on the move!

  • tm1946

See you later…. wings hot off the stove

  • berttheclock

The worst way to bet NFL games is to concentrate on which team has the better record and/or the quality or lack thereof an opponent. Games come down to matchups more than actual records. Plus, teams can get healthy during the mid part of the season, so, their early records may not be that meaningful.

    • Dave

you could have honestly expected a better offense effort as Dallas is not the Defense of Denver or Pittsburgh

  • mnelson52

Longer than any run of ours

    • JimHarbaughsguys

      ??

      • mnelson52

        Elliot ran for 6 yds

        • JimHarbaughsguys

          Hill ran for 12

          • mnelson52

            I stand corrected

          • JimHarbaughsguys

But RB wise, you are correct. Longest run by Hunt is 3 yards.
KC OL has to be able to run even if there are 8 in the box. 3 yards as a long for Hunt is evidence that they can’t block at all.

  • Heilios

    Murray thought he had that.

    • Merlin

      Almost a pick 6

    • ladner morse

      Murray “thought” …?

      • berttheclock

That was a “Get Smart” play as in “missed it by that much”.

    • mnelson52

I’m still not sure how he didn’t

  • ladner morse

Time for the offense to kick it in gear!

    • mnelson52

Time for a big hit to a WR for a TD

    • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

Our OL can not open any lanes for Hill at all

  • JimHarbaughsguys

    Crappy punt there by Dallas

  • Heilios

    Thomas!

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

    Nice catch there Thomas

  • mnelson52

    Great catch

    • Dave

followed up by a HIll run

      • JimHarbaughsguys

        for – yards

    • ladner morse

I think DAT is better this year.

      • mnelson52

        He looks stronger

        • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

          Less scared

  • JimHarbaughsguys

I’m telling you, stop running Hill

It’s not going to work if you keep doing it.

    • Dave

its like they want to prove they can run the ball even when they can’t

      • JimHarbaughsguys

Prove it by running your RB, the guy whose body and mind is designed to run it. Not the guy whose body and mind is designed to catch it

      • mnelson52

sometimes even with little yardage, you wear their D down for later in the game

  • Heilios

I think Thomas heard he may be replaced and is ready to showcase some skills today!

    • berttheclock

Who was the so-called genius around here who wanted him cut so Akeem Hunt could take his spot?

      • Heilios

        I still like McCluster! 😎

      • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

        Let it go Bert

        • berttheclock

          Never!

          • Homer Dave

you should, you sound like a hateful ass anymore. I’ll be on at 5 in the morning if you want to talk you crap while I’m actually present.

  • Dave

I sure do miss Chris Conley

  • Dave

Difference between Kelce and every other Tight End

    • JimHarbaughsguys

      Was Kelce on the field?

      • Dave

point was Kelce would have had the separation and made the catch

        • JimHarbaughsguys

I know. I just wanted to know if he was on the field, but was covered.

  • Heilios

Travis could of had that. Schwartz was beat bad

  • Chiefly Bacon

    Playcalling continues to suck.

    • mnelson52

So does the execution of what they are calling.

  • Dave

instead of going into locker room with some momentum ….

  • Heilios

    Zombo getting Dak!

  • Heilios

    Jones had the penetration

  • ladner morse

    Zombo… “look what I found.”

  • Dave

keep seeing Zombo and Hali and Zombo and Houston…when do we get Hali and Houston

  • Heilios

3rd and 15 so you play 20 yards off the nearest receiver! Just bad

    • JimHarbaughsguys

      uggh

  • Dave

    fn Chiefs

  • Heilios

    Seriously?

    • JimHarbaughsguys

      Guess so

  • mnelson52

I knew when they lined up with only 3 rushing that was going to be complete

    • Dave

yea all those guys in secondary and nobody can cover

  • Heilios

    Holding Zombo by the jersey

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

We should try to pass rush….I’ve heard it can help

  • berttheclock

In the 2014 NFL draft, the Cowboys selected Demarcus Lawrence about 10 picks after the Chiefs drafted Dee Ford.

    • Dave

      the oft injured Dee Ford

      • JimHarbaughsguys

He’s just resting for the playoffs.
        LOL

        • Dave

          hahahazhahaha

        • mnelson52

I thought that’s what we had Hali for

  • Chiefly Bacon

Prevent defense, prevents you from winning.

  • mnelson52

I don’t care how many guys you have in coverage, someone will get open when the QB has no one pressuring him

  • JimHarbaughsguys

Does Sutton get fired after this game?

    • mnelson52

probably get a raise for holding Elliott under 100 the 1st half

    • Chiefly Bacon

No, but he should. Then again, Reid should get fired as the play-caller after this game.

  • mnelson52

He fell down and we still had no one to tackle him

    • JimHarbaughsguys

      Ohhh. that is sad

  • ladner morse

For a QB who scores soooo much with his feet… how can you not shadow him?

    • Dave

      have Sutton as your DC

  • Chiefly Bacon

Fire Sutton. His defense is not prepared to play.

    • berttheclock

Who did Dorsey find to help him in the defensive secondary? Who has Veach brought in by trades to help, as well? It is far more than just Sutton. This is NOT a great football team.

      • Chiefly Bacon

I blame Dorsey 100% for that awful secondary. If it doesn’t get better next year THEN I’ll blame Veach. Chiefs didn’t have the cap space to trade for good veterans. They’re already low on draft picks next year so they can’t really afford to trade many more.

  • ladner morse

Shows you what a “playmaking” QB can do for your team.

    • Dave

      what are you implying ladner?

    • Heilios

You’re gonna start a fight Laddie! Lol

    • berttheclock

You sorta have to have a solid team behind and with him, as well.

Enjoy Mahomes II trying to lead a team to victory next year with holes galore needing to be filled.

      • Dave

with Alex’s salary we can fill a number of holes

        • berttheclock

I prefer Green Bay’s method of drafting instead of buying FAs. One or two possibly, but, build your team around the draft.

          • Dave

we can buy a CB, we get Eric Berry back, we draft a ILB, get Conley back Chessun and Robinson run wild and have a QB that tosses them the ball

    • JimHarbaughsguys

      You were saying

  • Heilios

    Late hit out of bounds

  • Heilios

    That was horseshit

    • Heilios

      Delay of game my ass

  • Dave

the sad part is I have zero faith in Reid and Smith to compete in a shoot out

    • larry mckinney

      Musta bet the over?

  • berttheclock

Something must be amiss as I hear Pat cursing at the TV screen in the living room.

    • larry mckinney

What, she’s gone over the Dallas?

  • Heilios

    Hill!

  • Heilios

    TD Kansas City!

  • ladner morse

    Can you F-ing believe it?????!!!!!!

  • mnelson52

    Just WOW

  • Dave

    holy bejezzus

  • JimHarbaughsguys

    no way
    What?

  • Heilios

There’s some momentum going into the half!

  • Chiefly Bacon

    HOLY CRAP!

  • mnelson52

Why didn’t Reid call that earlier?????lol

    • larry mckinney

Timing dude. It’s all in the timing…

  • ladner morse

    Ba-Ba-Ba-Ba-Butker!!!

    • Heilios

      Santos who?

  • drwillez37

    What a F-ing play

  • drwillez37

    This game is awesome

    • JimHarbaughsguys

Told you that first score opens the game up.
Since that point of Dallas first score, KC put up 10 and Dallas another 7.

  • Heilios

Hunt will get his in the secondhalf guys

    • mnelson52

Seems like the last time Hunt got almost nothing in the 1st half, Reid made good adjustments for the 2nd half

    • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

I hope you’re right…..seeing him get stuffed at the line over and over is getting old.

      • JimHarbaughsguys

The pattern this whole year has been Hunt getting nothing to start games.

        That is a concern.

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

That definitely helped Smiths stat line

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

Tyreek Hill is a top 3 first round pick if the 2016 NFL draft is done over.

  • Heilios

    Told you about Hunt!

    • JimHarbaughsguys

Still wish he would get going in the 1st with some help from the OL

    • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

I like when he looks outside too rather than just up the gut

  • Heilios

    Bad spot! He got it

  • Heilios

Damn kelce is a big boy

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

Nice job Kelce….let’s see Robinson here

    • JimHarbaughsguys

How about a Hunt rushing TD
How long has it been since he got one?

      • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

        Week 3?
        Not sure…it’s been a while

  • Heilios

The jet sweep failed there. A rare miss

    • mnelson52

      good D

  • Heilios

    Hunt almost took it home

  • Heilios

Boom baby! Way to respond Reid!

    • JimHarbaughsguys

      TD?
      Who?

      • Heilios

        Kelce! Good comeback route

        • JimHarbaughsguys

I was holding out for Hunt to get his.

          • Heilios

He almost had it the play before. He will get his don’t worry

          • mnelson52

            Days not over

          • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

He got close on 2nd down….he got tripped up at the 1 1/2

          • mnelson52

I’d like that, but I’ll take any TD we can get

      • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

        Kelce

  • Heilios

    Gunny sack race!

  • drwillez37

    I love it

  • drwillez37

    Best celebration of the year

    • Merlin

Nice to see Kelce hop to it 😉

      • Heilios

Oh I see what you did there!

  • Dave

    very impressive from the Offense

    • JimHarbaughsguys

Last two drives changed the whole feel of the game

      • ladner morse

… because the Chiefs are now leading…

        • JimHarbaughsguys

Because the offense made plays. The D has to respond, and so far this drive, they aren’t.

          • ladner morse

Guess this game will come down to… who has the ball last.

  • ladner morse

The offense obviously made the right half time adjustments. Now… can Sutton make his defensive changes the right call?

  • Dave

Hali and Houston can we see Hali and Houston and a lot less of Zombo

    • mnelson52

      Z has only sack

      • JimHarbaughsguys

        when? This game
        ?

      • Dave

Z benefited from Chris Jones and you know it

        • mnelson52

          definitely

  • Heilios

I didn’t see hill get tripped up in the gunny sack race

  • Heilios

    MOAR PRESSURE!

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

    Peters ….wow man

  • Heilios

Hell when Romo is saying Peters won’t tackle its getting to be a huge problem

    • mnelson52

      True story

  • mnelson52

They don’t need to let them answer immediately

  • Dave

I wonder when Papa John will realize that people don’t buy his Pizza because we are tired of seeing his face

    • Heilios

      That and it tastes horrible

      • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

What? You don’t like tomato paste and cardboard?

      • Heilios

I love pizza and would eat it everyday if it wouldnt kill me, I absolutely hate papa johns. Worst pizza I’ve ever had

        • Heilios

I prefer the $1 totinos pizza from Wal-Mart over papa johns

  • Chiefly Bacon

    Sutton’s D doesn’t look very adjusted.

  • Heilios

    Bad penalty. Not pass interference

    • Dave

yes it was he didnt go for ball at all

      • Heilios

Dez jumped into the defender not the other way around. Not pass interference

  • Chiefly Bacon

    Bull.

  • Merlin

Oh come on. What do you expect the DB to do?? He is entitled to his space.

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

He jumps up into our guy and we get the flag…lol

  • Heilios

Dirty Dan should have made him pay for those yards

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

    Turnover time

  • mnelson52

    Cmon hold to FG

  • JimHarbaughsguys

This KC D should just return their paychecks

The offense got you 2 straight TD’s after you screwed up allowing one, and this is how you respond.

    • Dave

its talent man we simply are missing too much talent

      • JimHarbaughsguys

hate to bring it up, but my Niners are utterly destroyed injury wise, but they show more spirit defensively.

  • Dave

    please spy on Dak

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

    Ok Sutton…account for Prescott

  • Chiefly Bacon

Nah, don’t save that time out, this game won’t be that close. It’ll be fine…

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

I knew it was going to be Prescott…I knew it

  • Dave

losing Dontari Poe was huge looks like Logan is not a suitable replacement

    • JimHarbaughsguys

      You are correct.
Stats mean squat as a NT. Rank vs run does matter.

    • berttheclock

Especially, when you consider in Poe’s last game with the Falcons, PFF awarded him with the highest mark of any Falcon’s defensive player.

      • Dave

wow one year deal maybe we can sign him with Alex’s money

      • JimHarbaughsguys

        Did not know that.

        • berttheclock

          82.8 rating

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

    Yep

  • mnelson52

    untouched

  • Dave

if we can answer my opinion of the Chiefs will change dramatically

  • mnelson52

Nice job Defense. Gave the lead back in one possession.

    • Dave

i feel like a broken record but I think this is who the Chiefs are on Defense

    • larry mckinney

You do know the Cowpeople are tryin’ too, don’t ya?

      • Dave

would be ok if we got one or two stops you know

  • drwillez37

We got this there’s plenty of football left

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

“Last team with the ball wins” kind of game

  • mnelson52

We need an answer right now

  • berttheclock

As proven in the last playoff game and against the Steelers, the KC defensive front has no push back against tough offensive lines. In fact, Seth Kysor noted last week that they have no d-lineman who can take on double teams.

    • JimHarbaughsguys

      Does that include Houston?

      • berttheclock

Just D-linemen. Sutton has been using only 2 on the D-line, except for today.

    • Dave

I will feel a lot better when its back to Hali Houston and Ford

  • larry mckinney

What a group here. Chiefs score, “we got this.” Cowpeople score, “the sky is falling.”

    • berttheclock

      The Ying and the Yang.

      • larry mckinney

        Bipolar fandom perhaps.

  • mnelson52

At least we’re leading something today

  • Dave

we sure do need that Bye

  • Dave

and they get good field position

    • Dave

      or not

      • JimHarbaughsguys

        Stupid cowboys

  • mnelson52

Good answer Chiefs. You went backward

  • drwillez37

This is some of the worst offensive play calling all year by Reid…it’s like the entire game is 2 minute offense…just terrible!!!!

    • berttheclock

Andy Reid is the NFL equivalent of George Karl of the NBA. Wins a great deal of regular season games, but, not very good in the playoffs.

      • Dave

        or mike dantoni

    • Dave

Alex had a lot of time to throw on a couple plays there and he always chooses the underneath open guy never throws a 50/50 type ball

      • JimHarbaughsguys

And AS is the only QB without an INT and has 18 TD’s.

        • Dave

yea for sure but you know recently has looked a lot like the other years of an Alex Smith team

          • JimHarbaughsguys

Teams can gun for the passing game for at least half of the game since the run game does nothing at all for at least half of every game.

        • mnelson52

He will have to get up to 20 or 21 today if he’s going to win

          • JimHarbaughsguys

That isn’t a fair comment as to his abilities.

  • ladner morse

Looked like a good block to me.

    • mnelson52

I saw a block in the back, but not the one they called

  • berttheclock

Great comment from Romo about the effect losing Sean Lee for two games had on their run stopping. Another reason why overall records are meaningless when deciding who has the advantage in a game.

    • Dave

well they match up very well because we are so damn weak on defense

  • JimHarbaughsguys

Will the D make some plays here to get the offense the ball in good field position?

    • Dave

      sure would be nice

      • JimHarbaughsguys

        Guess they can’t

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

    We need a turnover

    • JimHarbaughsguys

Last year KC D would get it here.

    • Dave

you never know man just maybe

  • mnelson52

Need to call that play they ended the half with….lol

  • mnelson52

    We need a turnover

  • Dave

    no dez bryant no problem

  • mnelson52

Our D is getting tired instead of theirs.

    • JimHarbaughsguys

When you allow RB’s to run the ball, that will happen.

  • drwillez37

    Take Acker out!!!

  • mnelson52

    Acker wasn’t even close again

  • ladner morse

    Peters playing powder puff football.

    • mnelson52

      Again

    • tm1946

Defense need to do something because they look on their last legs.

      • JimHarbaughsguys

        They go backwards quite easily.

        • berttheclock

It was that new Porsche gear box installed. Moves backwards with ease.

  • Dave

    need another Mircale

  • Dave

at least we dont have to watch the Chiefs next week can decompress a little

  • ladner morse

Maybe Andy will get motivated with his play calling now.

  • tm1946

To win a game you generally need to keep the loser to 17 or less…. seem to have done that.

  • mnelson52

Well they’re looking like the 30th ranked defense

    • JimHarbaughsguys

But, but, but, yards don’t matter!!
Only when you allow them, you are on borrowed time if you keep it up. Yards will result in points. And witihout a run D, or NT, it will happen often.

  • Heilios

Wow I can’t stand Peters. Why doesn’t he go for the tackle there with Nelsonm

  • ladner morse

Back to back long drives. Gheesh!

  • berttheclock

It is one thing to make the playoffs. The Chiefs will make the playoffs.

It is another thing to have a playoff caliber team when you get there. The Chiefs are NOT that type of team.

    • Dave

DJ getting better off that injury, Hali, Houston and Ford v Zombo getting a bunch of snaps. I expect a bit better from the D. The offense has to trust the WR more. We can be good but probably wont with coaching

  • Chiefly Bacon

Defense is a garbage fire. Looking like Chiefs Super Bowl window was last year. Rebuild probably coming next year.

    • larry mckinney

6 – 3 at the break. Home games coming. Bye week neigh. Don’t go toward the light!

  • Chiefly Bacon

As bad as the defense has been, they’ve done enough to keep the team in this if the offense wasn’t horrifically incompetent.

    • JimHarbaughsguys

28 points allowed and 2 straight TD’s allowed after KC had taken the lead to start the half.
That is NOT keeping the team in it at all.

    • berttheclock

Have you ever heard the expression of “move the chains”? All the Cowboys have done in the 2nd half is to keep moving the chains.

      • JimHarbaughsguys

Dallas had done whatever they wanted in the 2nd half when they wanted to do it.

    • Dave

they haven’t done enough sure but the defense is largely to blame here

    • larry mckinney

6 – 3 at the break. Not terrible. Tough schedule stretch over, Chiefs among highest scoring teams in whole league. Step away from the ledge!

  • Dave

sure glad we stayed pat at the trade deadline

    • Heilios

I wanted a dback or an inside lb

      • Dave

TJ Ward is not getting a lot playing time on a bad tampa bay team we could have had him but we stay with Acker, Mitchell and Gaines……………………

        • berttheclock

Should have gone for Eric Reid of the Niners.

          • JimHarbaughsguys

Reid finally got a INT today, but no way.

      • berttheclock

I wanted a hybrid safety who can handle bigger wide outs and TEs.

      • JimHarbaughsguys

a new OL wouldn’t be a bad thing to put on the list
Can’t run block unless the passing game is ripping a D apart and the D gets tired. Other than that, they can’t do shi* run blocking.

    • berttheclock

But, we keep the Cap steady, plus, had Hali restructure his contract so part of his contract will be based on whether or not he makes the March 1st, 2018 roster.

      • Dave

its honestly a question of the plan for Alex next year if we plan to let him go we have a lot of cap space

        • JimHarbaughsguys

You take AS off this team, and they will have plenty of cap space in a few years as they don’t do anything if he doesn’t do it.

Can’t run unless the pass game is on.
          Can’t pass block.

  • mnelson52

As I said earlier, get Robinson involved more

  • Heilios

    Good spin West!

  • Dave

    and Smith comes through

  • mnelson52

Smith is sacked way too many times on 3rd down

  • Heilios

    Crap

  • Dave

go away losers and regroup at the bye. fn pitiful

  • mnelson52

    Game over

  • ladner morse

Hate to say but unless our D does the same… it’s game over.

  • drwillez37

That’s it BENCH him …2017 is the year of MAHOMES!!!!LOL

    • Dave

the only way we roll Alex next year is if we win the superbowl

      • ladner morse

probably right but mostly because Smith is worth more in a trade this offseason than at any time in the future.

      • berttheclock

Trade Mahomes II for top draft picks. That is how to rebuild from the draft.

        • Heilios

          Never gonna happen

        • Dave

not a chance mahommes is legit

          • JimHarbaughsguys

Based upon his under .500 record playing with a piss poor D in college.

He’ll be in familiar country then. Only playing against better D’s than anything he saw in college.

    • berttheclock

YES! Lose with Mahomes II. That should be the new motto.

    • Heilios

All that would do is get Patrick killed with our porous offensive line

      • Dave

offensive line is actually quite good with all healthy you have to see that

        • Heilios

If they are all healthy but they aren’t

          • Dave

its good enough for any decent QB

        • mnelson52

I haven’t thought much of this O-line in the 5 years Reid has been here. When they play good defenses they look bad being pushed around. It’s sad to see the O-line at every position go straight backwards. Some good scheming and quick releases by Smith keeps this O-line from looking as bad as they really are. They’re not terrible, they’re just not good.

  • berttheclock

Cue Dandy Don crooning “Turn out the lights, the parties over”.

  • drwillez37

On a serious note…Alex has been playing like S for the last 3 weeks

    • Dave

Alex has been Alex last three weeks captain check down

    • JimHarbaughsguys

The only guy to score for KC in that time sucks.

  • mnelson52

On a post a couple of days ago, I said Dallas 31-17. I was called crazy

    • berttheclock

      Prescient.

    • Chiefly Bacon

In defense of those of us who thought that, we assumed that the Chiefs team from the first half of the season would show up. Not the post Harbaugh 49ers. Worst game I’ve seen in a LONG time.

      • mnelson52

I said Dallas would run on us to control the clock and keep Smith sidelined. That along with Acker covering Bryant

  • drwillez37

    Whats up with Bailey???

    • berttheclock

Went to the locker room earlier.

      • drwillez37

        Ok so no news

    • mnelson52

He was down on the field earlier, but I never heard what it was

  • drwillez37

How many Touchdowns has Smith missed this game I counted 2 clear ones

  • Chiefly Bacon

Smith isn’t who he was to start the year. He’s back to what we expected, the guy who made Chiefs draft Pat Mahomes.

  • drwillez37

    2017 the year of Mahomes!!!lol

    • JimHarbaughsguys

Winless the rest of the year and next year with PM in as QB.

      • Dave

Chiefs will finish with at most five losses

        • drwillez37

          The Chargers are coming!!! Lol

      • larry mckinney

The sky is falling! The sky is falling! The sky is falling!

        • JimHarbaughsguys

So KC D can’t overcome an AS INT then.
AS is blamed for scoring and not scoring and play calling and penalties and …..

          • Heilios

It’s not Smith’s fault. Its the d fault. When opposing teams can run at will what do you expect?

          • JimHarbaughsguys

By and large, the team that can run the most in a game wins that game.
And KC is blasted out of the park the past month in rushing yards vs their opposition. And with the bad pass blocking (not different from run blocking) you can’t do much.

KC needed to address their OL and run D and didn’t.

    • the year that kc fubar’ed the draft.

    • drwillez37

The F it AS11 has left the building slippery happy foot Alex is back…unfortunately cause I was really rooting for him to stay next year

  • Dave

we have guys on the Dline who I dont know

  • Dave

no Zeke next six games i wonder how they will fair

  • Heilios

Just goes to show you how much berry did for us

    • drwillez37

      I miss Berry so much

  • drwillez37

Have we even had the ball on offense this half??

  • drwillez37

How do u have a half like this after ending the first half the way we did….and this isn’t unreasonable panic this team has been slowly internally bleeding for awhile

  • Dave

if if if we go into the playoffs with a healthy team. Hali, Houston, Ford, Wilson the Oline. Time for DJ to get 100% if we can figure out who is actually better Acker or Mitchell. I like our chances to make it to the super bowl playing against anyone in the AFC. Now can we actually beat Seattle or New Orleans or the Eagles who knows

    • Merlin

Chiefs already beat the Eagles this year. That win looks more and more impressive as time goes on.

      • Dave

yea but the eagles today are different did you see what they did against that Denver D today?

        • Merlin

Yes, they did to Denver what the Chiefs were about to do to Denver before Hill threw that interception

      • berttheclock

The Eagles improved their team by adding Ajayi. Plus, when, we beat them, they did not have Fletcher Cox.

  • drwillez37

I’ll tell you one thing these penalties are killing us and if we go in the post season playing that game …we will be one and done…again!!!

  • Dave

I honestly can’t help it I am sort of sick of Alex Smith

  • drwillez37

    We need this BYE

    • mnelson52

      We need players

      • drwillez37

        Just down the ball

      • JimHarbaughsguys

One’s who won’t get here due to the bye.

      • berttheclock

We need new coaches, as well.

    • berttheclock

How much will BYE be favored by?

  • drwillez37

Wake up and there’s a game going on…stop thinking about your reservations at silver fox steakhouse

  • berttheclock

Meanwhile, in Seattle Donald Stephenson just led his team from behind to put themselves in the winning column late in the game against Washington.

Stephenson? Did I just type that? I meant Russell Wilson, the player Scott Pioli never knew existed.

    • Dave

man i was hoping so much that we took Wilson

  • Dave

    can alex just fn kneel

    • JimHarbaughsguys

You can get Kap to do that for ya

      • Dave

        lol

      • mnelson52

        If he had a team

  • drwillez37

Thank god were in one of the worse divisions in the league

    • mnelson52

Yes and thankful this was a loss to the NFC

    • berttheclock

Yeah, it is called backing into the playoffs. Plus, too many concentrate on who wins near the first of the season. It is far more important to begin to build winning in December and continue forward.

      • drwillez37

U called it after the draft I remember..there was tootoo any concerns to make Qb top priority this year

        • mnelson52

I had no problem with them moving up in the 1st, but I thought it would be for Foster. I thought ILB was our weakest point, but I see now that corner is pretty serious

The Chiefs D-line had no push against Pittsburgh, yet, for some reason, many forget the road to the Lombardi will have to go through Pittsburgh.

    • JimHarbaughsguys

Odds of getting to the Super Bowl are low if you can’t beat Pitt.

      • Merlin

A team has to go through NE and/or Pitt to get there

        • mnelson52

Well we didn’t even find a way to get through Oakland

    • Chiefly Bacon

Nobody expect the Chiefs to go the Super Bowl this year. Heck, I’ll be surprised if they win a playoff game. Headed for a division win, a 3-seed and an early exit.

      • tm1946

I was hoping for more…. next year seems a little worse, thought this was our chance.

        • Chiefly Bacon

Starting to feel like last year was our shot. 2019 is probably the next viable opportunity.

          • tm1946

A big issue, IMO. We seem to be just a little off base every year. Draft Mahomes, KPASs, Hunt et al and what do we have to show for it…. not a very good team…. could go 12 – 4 and what…. get run in the playoffs?

          • Chiefly Bacon

Losses of Berry and Ware definetly hurt this team, but ILB and OLB were gonna be issues regardless. Dorsey threw money and picks at those positions, but consistently failed.

          • tm1946

As much as Dorsey was loved when he was still here…. he was a first time GM and most (51%) of his decision were/are suspect. Fisher, love him – I don’t. Ford – the longer he is here the bigger the bust and will probably get a big contract because there is nothing left but him. Houston’s deserved pay check but not worth half if we had any one else. CB (anyone remember how Dorsey ignored WR his first years… well, hello CB) is a joke. If Peters is really the answer, might as well paint a yellow strip down the field so the other teams WR do not pass each other on the way to the end zone.

Another second half of NOTHING…just like earlier when u kept coming back at me…with nothing…sometimes having nothing can be one cool hand….just not in football..name that movie

  • JimHarbaughsguys

AS had to gamble on that INT. 4th down and Kelce is his best target on the team. Too bad Dallas knew that.

    • mnelson52

If we could see everything, I bet Robinson or Chesson was open

      • JimHarbaughsguys

I’ve watched the play a few times, and the only guys the camera shows are all covered and no chance at all of getting a 1st down.

      • Dave

Robinson and Chesson are huge down field threats but unfortunately Alex doesn’t trust anyone who has not been in the offense for two years at least see: Harris

  • tm1946

I see a lot of similarities between this game and steelers. Just me and I fully expect to read how this game did not matter until the next game.

  • Stan Colbert

That was a great sack race celebration!

  • Homer Dave

Looks like Zombo has some awareness for a sack. Jones originally applied the pressure then got back up to help finish off the play. Look to the right of the screen and you can see Houston taking the play off.

  • Homer Dave

Absolutely brilliant play design by Reid in the TEs/WRs blocking for the Hill checkdown that went for a TD. I’d still give 90% of the credit to Hill for the field awareness and DR for the taking on of two blocks.

  • Homer Dave

Real proud of the KC offense. It seems like just a short while back that Kc cold only generate 6 yards in the 1st half.

  • Homer Dave

F*^k it, this game was ruined for me a while back and I need sleep. So straight to general insights:

    1) I still believe that KC’s o-line is set up wrong. They play a ZBS but Hunt/Ware would run better behind a PBS. The o-line is set up for a JC25 type of RB, Hunt/Ware are not that type of back.

    2) Acker is bad but I also think he is influenced by 22..who just so happens to be a puss. People lament Berry’s tackling skills being absent as being the problem, I think the problem is that the locker room is beginning to be led by jokers like Peters.

    3) I miss the old DJ56.

    4) The offense went check-down-city and it was 2014-Smith-ugly.
