Good morning Chiefs fans. Here are some Kansas City Chiefs morning chatting points.

According to NFL.com the Chiefs defense has allowed the 6th least points per game at 16.3. Since the 7 minute mark of the second quarter of their first game with the San Diego Chargers the Chiefs have only allowed 28 points. Do we have any believers yet? How many games does this defense have to perform well in before they are widely respected?

Some are expecting Marcus Peters to go up against  Antonio Brown in this Sunday’s matchup pitting the Steelers and the Chiefs. It makes far more sense to me that the speedy Phillip Gaines takes on Brown. Gaines is a much better matchup for Brown.

I am of the opinion that the Chiefs maligned offensive line can “get better” quickly against the Pittsburgh front seven. In fact, this may be the best chance we’ve seen so far for the offense to take off and have a big game. No, not just a big game but a huge game.

On another note, I am firmly in the camp that says that the Chiefs mishandled Justin Houston at the end of last season and that their misconduct is the reason he is not with the team right now. It’s been suggested that some teams have stars (with huge contracts) who have more say-so in their own rehab or return date than other (lesser paid) players and that it may have been Houston who was pushing for his own return and a shot to play in the playoffs. I say, I don’t care who the player is, the team has the responsibility to make sure they are ALWAYS doing what is in the players best interest. That didn’t happen at the end of last season. Consequently, his surgery took us all by surprise when it’s something that could have been diagnosed and taken care of before the regular season ever ended. If the Chiefs miss the playoffs by one game this year they’ll have no one but themselves to blame for that because Houston could certainly have been counted on to be the difference maker in at least one contest this season.
