Chiefs: It’s Beyond Me

Instead of a Friday morning, the day after Thanksgiving, Open Thread, I thought it might be a good chance to check in on what others are thinking, saying, and doing… in “It’s Beyond Me.”

For me, I was pulling for the Chargers to rip Dallas a new one… and they did. I’d love to see both the Chiefs and the Chargers make the playoffs coming out of the AFC West this year.

Casserly likes to get a little carried away. After all, the Chargers don’t even have a winning record yet. Also, consider:.

As B.J. Kissel has pointed out the obvious, the Chiefs still have a two-game lead on the rest of the teams in the AFC West (technically, the Chargers are only a game and a half behind at the present moment, based upon their win on Thanksgiving Day over the Cowboys):

If “The Fix” that the Chiefs were going for all along was to eventually sign CB Darrelle Revis, perhaps they could have addressed the lack of a pass rush first. On the other hand, the BPA at this point in time was likely… Revis and his shrinking Island:

From a piece by Terez Paylor called, “Darrelle Revis’ first day as a Chief includes a playful welcome” he shares,

“Darrelle Revis’ first day as a Chief included at least one playful moment. To hear safety Ron Parker tell it, when the players went through their defensive meetings Thursday morning, Revis was sitting when one of his teammates yelled “We got a new guy in the room!” Everybody was waiting for him to stand up, and he was like ‘Okay, y’all know who I am,’ ” Parker said with a laugh. “Everybody was like ‘Naw, get up and say who you are.’ So Revis went ahead and did that, getting the seven-time Pro Bowler’s tenure with the Chiefs off to a nice start after signing late Wednesday afternoon. He just loosened up and was himself, ready to get to work and figure this thing out,” Parker said. “It was funny; you can tell the chemistry and everything is going to be there. It’s all about having fun, and adding another guy like that to the group, I think it’s going to be fun.”

Just to give you some perspective on what my family is like… we went around the table, during our Thanksgiving dinner, and said… what we each were NOT thankful for. Interesting discussion… that’s all I can tell you without being exiled from the family.

Time For A Mid-season Checkup

It’s time for my Mid-season Checkup where I cough and turn my head to the side. The week before this season started, all the writers here at ArrowheadOne decided to make predictions about this season’s final record for the Chiefs. I went back and checked — because I really didn’t recall — and I predicted the Chiefs would finish 11-5 for the year. At this point, I hope I’m wrong and that the team finishes the season on a 6-game winning streak.

Aside from being able to be around my family… and keep closer tabs on the K.C. Chiefs… one of my favorite reasons for being back home here in Kansas City, is watching the Plaza Lights. Here is a little vid of the lighting in case you missed it:

Marcus Peters handed out Turkeys on Thanksgiving but… remember that time when he stole a drumstick from Philip Rivers?

Parker Ehinger and Anthony Sherman sum up my feeling perfectly about how I feel this time of year:

Go Chiefs!
