Chiefs Preseason Game Two:

OPEN THREAD

Expectations Galore

Expectativas. Attentens. Erwartungen. It doesn’t matter which language you say it in… Offensive or Defensive languages as well, Kansas City Chiefs fans are ready to see some production on the field. No one cares anymore if you want to hide the playbook in Davy Jones locker at the bottle of Lake Jacomo… we want touchdowns. We want long passes to Sammy Watkins. At least one. It doesn’t matter to us anymore if you want to hide the genius defensive backfield schemes of Bobby “Special Sauce” Sutton… we just want to see our CBs shut down a WR or two and watch those two linebackers, Hitch & Rags, wallop the patootie our of some body then help shut down a drive or two.

Reality Check

So, what will we see tonight? The offense is said to be taking all the first half reps… that much is known. I doubt that Andy Reid gives away any of his new playbook but we haven’t seen a Patrick Mahomes TD yet this year and we didn’t see one in the December game vs. the Broncos either. Consequently, I think Reid will do everything he can, within reason, to give Mahomes the success he needs to grow his confidence.

Expectations of a Different Color

If you have paid attention to other preseason games this week, the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers put up a combined 85 points in a 51-to-34 Packer victory. Also, the Pats and Eagles had a Super Bowl rematch and they put up 57 combined points in a 37-to-20 Pats win.

So… why shouldn’t Chiefs fans to expect more than the pitiful 10 points the 2nd, 3rd, & 4th teams put up against the Texans? Here’s hoping… and expecting.
