Chiefs: Who Would You Take?

We’re smack dab in the middle of the mocking season but instead of presenting to you the player that I have chosen, I’ll present about 20 players who might be available at each position where the Chiefs select, including pick numbers: 1-27, 2-59, 3-91, 3c-104, 4-132, 5-170, 5c-180, 6c-216, 6c-218, and 7-245 (this represents the round, the overall number, plus “c” denotes compensatory picks), then you can do the picking.

Your mock will be done using Fanspeak information and I will provide you with the players most likely to be chosen by the Chiefs (20 possibilities for each pick). You can pick as many rounds as you like but my suggestion is to try at least three rounds because many of the players you are familiar with may only be found in the first three rounds… and those are the most popular players.

At Fanspeak there are 13 different kinds of “Big Boards” to be used for a draft — a ranking system — and without listing all of them I will tell you that we’ll be using “The Composite” Big Board, which blends all the boards together.

Also, all of the other team’s players will be selected by using a set of “teams needs” I choose. The choices are, “Fanspeak,” “User Voted,” and “NFL Mocks.” I chose NFL Mocks.

In the first couple of rounds, I’ll give you the players who were already taken and then share the 20 or so picks that you’ll have to choose from (those charts are in blue). Let’s get started.

Round One

First Round Picks Already Selected before Pick #27:

These all look like real possibilities except for Sydney Jones at #18. Since his injury, I believe he drops out of the first round. Myles Garrett at #1 and Reuben Foster at #12 sound like great picks for the Browns. Mitch Trubisky and Deshaun Watson may have been drafted completely for need at #2 and #3 but I get it. David Njoku before O.J. Howard seems wrong but if someone falls for Njoku I can see it. Four edge rushers and five defensive backs before the Chiefs pick also sounds about right. Now, let get to the player not yet chosen:

Available Picks at #27:

There’s no way to tell who may be on John Dorsey’s board at this point but there’s a good chance he will be looking at picking many of the same players you’re looking at here. If you’re wanting that QBOTF then Patrick Mahomes II may be your guy. If you’re as big an Evan Engram fan as I am, then he might be for you. Of course, it’s hard to believe that Derek Barnett and Teez Tabor are still there, one of them might just be the choice.

If you want to make your first round choice now, you can copy paste the numbers of the Chiefs selections (found at the end of this piece) into a comments box and write-in your personal first round selection… then do the same after each round.

Round Two

Second Round Picks Already Selected bbefore Pick #59

The prospects who will already be taken before the Chiefs pick in the second round (according to this simulator) include:

Available Picks at #59

Available Picks at #91

Available Picks at #104

Available Picks at #132

Available Picks at #170

Available Picks at #180

Available Picks at #216

Available Picks at #218

Available Picks at #245

I’ve done so many mocks that I’ve gotten used to this but, if you’re at all like me you have the experience of great frustration when confronted with so many excellent choices. Especially in the early rounds. Maybe it’s a little late now but… try to narrow it down to two prospects… then pick between those two.

Copy and paste the following numbers into your comments box — if you choose to play along — and fill in your choices next to the numbers.
