Not news, not even a fact yet…..but Rapaport is not normally talking out his butt about these things…

The #Chiefs coaching carousel isn’t done yet. I’m being told defensive coordinator Bob Sutton has informed the team he is retiring. Another big vacancy to fill in KC.— Ian Rapaport 🅥 (@Rapshert) January 9, 2018

    • Chiefly Bacon

It’s another fake one. Check the handle. Both named Rapoport, but the bottom one is a reply to the real Rapaport. You can tell because the handle is @Rapshert instead of @RapSheet

      • VIVA LA MAHOMES!!

Sure enough…I’m so damn gullible when it comes to news that I WANT to hear.

        • Chiefly Bacon

Got me too, that’s how I know it’s fake lol.

I always wonder about this guy and the Chiefs Insider as a whole….they come out with some serious hot taeks.

    • Chiefly Bacon

Pagano is y guy. Long as he’s out there, I won’t be too nervous.

      • VIVA LA MAHOMES!!

YHup, if there is one thing Pagano knows how to do, that’s make an 0-line ineffective, lol.

    • freshmeat62

It’s not just Reid. Lil Clark takes forever to make up his mind.

  • VIVA LA MAHOMES!!

Nothing new here either…just thought it was cool that it was written in German, lol….

My daughter-in-law is German born. She translates this Austrian’s statement as “the freakin” zebra blew the fumble call.”

        Haha, sounds appropriate!!

Baldi has had some very, very solid film breakdowns concerning KC. He’s a good follow on Twitter, btw.

.@chiefs RECEIVERS; if @PatrickMahomes5 is the QB next year get your head around ; speed up your eyes, get your hands ready. The 🏈is acoming. #BaldyBreakdowns pic.twitter.com/oA1RSj1gYB— Brian Baldinger (@BaldyNFL) January 10, 2018

I like the pick of Bieniemy for OC. The guy has fire in his gut. I can see him getting in peoples faces if they screw up. Wonder if Reid is now back to calling plays? I hope they find some young stud w/ the same fire for DC, and not these has beens that have been mentioned here.

  • VIVA LA MAHOMES!!

good thread, for the most part and a very valid argument concerning the very worst defensive play call I have ever witnessed.

Here's all you need to know about Bob Sutton. This is the screenshot of Derrick Henry's 35-yd TD run, presnap. Get ready for a quick thread #Chiefs pic.twitter.com/m2mGzROrNH— Matt Verderame (@MattVerderame) January 9, 2018

Alex Smith has been named Chiefs MVP and Kareem Hunt the team's rookie of the year. The awards are voted on by the players. https://t.co/5VnYpzoqQm— Adam Teicher (@adamteicher) January 10, 2018

Basically… Never mind about the Chiefs stuff.— Soren Petro (@SorenPetro) January 10, 2018

  • Add a date to the above list. June 1 or before.

    • Here is my trade, cut or release list
Al Smith, DJ, Hali, Ford, Parker, Revis, West. There are others, but they don’t yield a $1m or more in cap savings. This list above gives me $52M in cap savings. We have $7.9 committed $ at this point, so the net buy-back is about $44m. Subtract from that $6m to sign rookies. We wont know what picks, the round of those picks nor any player that is included in a trade of Al Smith.

      • VIVA LA MAHOMES!!

I’m good with AS (17M), DJ (8M), Hali (8M), Ford (8.7) and Revis (4.5) but I would hang on to West and Parker. We don’t know yet on Berry returning (even though I hesitate to bet against him, lol) and doubt KC can replace him easily. West is depth, I know this, but he’s relatively cheap depth. Everything added up, including dead money equates to 38.5Million. Plenty for the rookie class and even some FA to plug some holes.

      • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

Money isn’t the only reason to cut or release…….lack of talent is a good reason also.

      • PaulFromNorthMo

I would consider adding Bailey to that list.

        • jimfromkcj

What we need as well as cap money is picks and Smith is the only one of those guys who would bring picks, and I doubt he would bring very high ones. Any revamping of the Chiefs must address the two highest paid and underperforming players, Houston and Berry. Neither one has spent enough time playing to earn the money they have been paid. The only thing I worry about is finding any team willing to take their contracts off our backs.

          • PaulFromNorthMo

It’s awful hard to fault a guy for getting hurt or having a life threatening illness. I’m sure both would have preferred to play every down of their contracts. I don’t think we need to get rid of two of our best players and leaders in order to make the cap functional.

          • huh. Smith had the best year of his career, is an mvp candidate, finished in the top 5 QBs in the NFL and he won’t bring very high picks? It would be good to have both Houston and Berry re-negotiate their contracts to get cap money back. I doubt either is going anywhere else.

        • VIVA LA MAHOMES!!

          regrettably, yes.

        • Salary cap dead money cap savings

          Bailey $8,000,000 $8,000,000 $2,000,000 $6,000,000
          West $1,450,000 $2,083,00 $ 334,000 $1,750,000
          Ware $1,450,000 $2,083,000 $ 334,000 $1,750,000
          K Hunt $ 638,000 $ 788,800 $ 581,000 $ 196,000*
          A Hunt $ 578,800 one year contract
          Spiller don’t have his numbers.

We have complained about drops by our TEs.

          Harris $1,750,000 $2,200,000 $ 200,000 $2,000,000

          Charles $ 750,00 $ 790,00 $ 0 $ 790,000

          * Hunt just completed his first year of his rookie deal.

Note: I Have not included players who don’t have a contract for 2018. This includes Bert Wilson, his contract year was this year. I am going to keep West on my no deal list also. Ware is the RB I see working a 1-2 with Hunt. Sherman also doesn’t have a 2018 deal. Phillip Gaines does not have a 2018 contract(Gone), DAT(Gone),

Kareem Hunt’s contract year is 2020, the last year, which is $775K.

          • PaulFromNorthMo

Yes, I see keeping Ware over West. i would hold off on cutting Harris until probably after June 1, If Smith is still the QB, then he probably stays, If Mahomes, then I would see how they work together, Or see what we have to replace him.
Ramik Wilson is another without a contract for 2018.
Although OTC and Spotrec a pretty accurate, they still have flaws. Also both sites are using 178 mil as the base for next year and that has yet to be established by the league.

          • I added players mentioned to the list I made. I thought Harris acquitted himself well in the playoff loss. With few draft picks, I don’t see the Chiefs using a pick for a TE unless it is a stellar, can’t miss pick. Is there some rumor about Amaro and the Chiefs?

Charles is the #3 and as such does offer flexibility to other positions. West? I can see keeping him for the return game. I can’t see he and DAT both. As far as I know, PM had time with Harris when he got his snaps. I doubt that there is a problem that when PM gets starter snaps all off season that that would be a problem with Harris. West can not be the feature back. I did miss Ramik Wilson in my list of guys without contracts. I doubt that the estimate 178mil is very far off and when missed, it is usually under the actual number.

Dorsey will have the Browns relevant again in two years….watch.

      • VIVA LA MAHOMES!!

can he maintain it though? is a bigger question for me.

        • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

If Mahomes is the “saver of the franchise” as touted….along with Kelce, Hill and Hunt…..he was on his way to maintaining it here until Hunt decided to go all Billy badass on us and fire him.

  • VIVA LA MAHOMES!!

But thank the lord that KC still has Heck….

Matt Nagy's first hire as #Bears head coach is a big one. He lured offensive line coach Harry Hiestand away from Notre Dame for a second run with the team. https://t.co/CJIBUmc9kW— Brad Biggs (@BradBiggs) January 10, 2018

Looks like the good ol’ boy club is alive and well in Cleveland….

#Browns also add Jimmy Noel as assistant director of pro scouting, Matt Donahoe as scout and Dan Zegers as personnel coordinator. All were with GM John Dorsey with Chiefs.— Scott Petrak ct (@ScottPetrak) January 10, 2018

The Browns GM John Dorsey has added three scouts from the Chiefs:

Jimmy Noel as Assistant Director of Pro Scouting
    Matt Donahoe as Scout
    Dan Zegers as Personnel Coordinator.

    • VIVA LA MAHOMES!!

Meh, they were Dorsey’s guys anyway. I’m sure Veach has his own guys in place that he would have liked to have had LAST year…this is just belated due to the late firing of Dorsey is all.

  • VIVA LA MAHOMES!!

With every day that passes and I hear no whispers of Sutton going away I become more anxious. This is getting crazy, thing is I read a comparison of Vermeil to Robertson and Reid to Sutton….someone please tell me this thing doesn’t go that deep.

.@Chiefs WRs averaged 3.59 yards of separation when Alex Smith released the ball per #NextGenStats, most in the league. 2nd place was 3.11, NFL avg is 2.9.— Matt Harmon (@MattHarmon_BYB) January 10, 2018
