K.C. Chiefs and the Saturday Sum Up!

Hi guys, sorry for the leave of absence. I have had a lot of things going on in the past couple weeks but it is good to be back. The past week was a tough one for Chiefs fans everywhere. The way that game with Oakland ended may go as one of the worst games I can remember for a long time. We can get to that more in a bit. Here it is. Your Saturday Sum Up!

Hunt-ing For Records

Another week has gone by and another record for our rookie back. Kareem Hunt has been churning out yards since the first time he suited up in the magnificent red and gold of our beloved Kansas City Chiefs. With this latest outing against the Oakland Raiders Kareem has added another notch in his belt and another tally in the record books. He has become just the second rookie to surpass 1000 yards from scrimmage in the first 7 games of his career. This would have been more than enough for anyone else, but apparently Hunt wasn’t finished with his record setting ways just yet. He also managed to turn in 117 yards on the day thus extending his own record to be the first player in NFL history to surpass 100 yards from scrimmage in 7 straight games. With his current production he would be on pace to topple the 2500 yard mark by the end of the season. This is all coming from a rookie that no one had heard of, from a college that is often overlooked by pundits. I guarantee that not a single one of you, me included, would have ever thought that this running back from Toledo would have come in and set the world on fire. I have had high hopes for Hunt ever since he was drafted but nothing like this. We may be seeing history in the making. The only hope is that he doesn’t turn into a one hit wonder like Trent Richardson. No matter what happens in the future, lets enjoy the present, enjoy the ride, and watch the records pile up!

The Oakland Meltdown

I know, I know, I know. We have rehashed this mess time and time again. I remember the outcome of the game and being so mad about it that I had to log off before I was moderated into oblivion. After having a week to mellow out and cool down the one word that comes to mind when I think of that game is “INEPT”. Call it what you will but good teams win close games. Inept playcalling kept us one dimensional. Inept coaching allowed a clearly overmatched Oakland team to stay in a game that should have been put away long before the overtime fiasco. Inept defense allowed the Raiders to throw at will for huge chunks of yards. Inept offense would not move the ball and control the clock. We did not deserve to win that game, and if we had it would have been a gift from the almighty above. Now I know some will point to the refs and say that they were biased. Some will say that they took away a legitimate turnover, or that they saw ghost interference or holding calls. Or some will say that they blatantly ignored would be penalties that would go in the Chiefs favor. I agree, the officiating of the game was absolute garbage, both ways. I Remember thinking to myself a couple times during that game “Wow, we got away with that one”. Good teams win regardless of the officials. We were not a good team then. We were absolute garbage and I think the main reason it upset me so much was that I knew we were better. I knew we could beat the Raiders. I knew we would be leaving Oakland with a smile on our faces asking who’s next. Now we have been given a long week, almost a bye week, to prepare for the Broncos on Monday night. I can forgive our guys for the Oakland meltdown, count it up to a short week and poor execution, but if we come out with the same mess of a game plan against Denver? Well then I may be calling for some serious answers come Tuesday morning.

Moving Mahomes

Some one the other day sent me a link on Facebook. Like any piece of Chiefs news I get, I immediately open it up and begin reading. This link was to a Twitter post by Sporting News that said the Kansas City Chiefs should trade Patrick Mahomes. Like any stupid article I latch on with every fiber of my being. Trade Patrick Mahomes? Who would think that is a good idea? It took the Chiefs the better part of my lifetime to select a quarterback in the first round. Surely someone must be high? So who would they even suggest a trade to? THE CLEVELAND BROWNS. Wow. The only way I could ever see this trade happening is if maybe Mahomes stole Reid’s last slice of pizza and this was the only way Andy could think to punish him properly. I mean you don’t just take the last slice, especially if you didn’t even put in on the pie man. Alright some guy is spouting moronic garbage just to make himself heard. No-one on this site would ever do that…… (crickets, crickets) Ok fine I do that, on a regular basis, and twice on Tuesdays, but I swear it wasn’t me. But get this, they said we should trade our first round pick, Patrick Mahomes, for DeShone Kizer (The guy the Browns, yes the Cleveland Browns, benched in favor of his backup) and an ancient (in football years) Jason McCourty. No extra picks, no financial relief, nothing. Just a straight up trade. This guy would have had to of sat down and thought to himself, “You know what the Browns need? A better quarterback! Who is a good quarterback that isn’t starting right now? How about that Mahomes feller? He should be pretty good. But what would they get in return? How about the Browns quarterback? The poor bastard. He is never going to have a chance playing in Cleveland. But Kansas City will never agree to a straight up trade, how to sweeten the pot? I know toss in McCourty. He has a good year left in him.” That is the only way I can think that this guys train of thought would operate. So he would have to think that Kizer and McCourty are worth TWO first round picks. TWO! Now I can mash my arm stumps into the keyboard as good as the next guy but no way in hell would I have ever thought about that trade. Either someone has too much time on their hands or like I said earlier, maybe they were just to high to realize what they were writing.

There we have it guys! Thanks for reading. Comment below and let me know if there is anything you would like me to write about. As always VIVA LA JET SWEEP and GO CHIEFS!
