Tyler Bray: Andy Reid’s QBOTF

I was just listening to Andy Reid’s press conference and boy did he show his man crush on backup QB, Tyler Bray.  He just couldn’t say enough good things about Tyler and how he will be the man to lead the  Chiefs to back to back to back to back to back Super Bowl titles.

If you feel like listening, it’s starts about 8:22 in.  But, beware, the bromance Andy lets loose is a bit embarrassing.

Chiefs Press Conferences from Phase 1

Watch Head Coach Andy Reid speak to the media on the first day of offseason workouts.

If you don’t have time to listen, just take a read of the response to the reporter’s question about the backup QB situation on our roster.

Reporter: How do you feel you have done, development-wise, with the quarterbacks behind Alex?

Reid: Uh, I think we have done OK. Yeah. Yeah.

Reporter: Mumble, mumble.

Reid:  I’d tell ya that um, Tyler actually is uh, um I’d tell ya is greatly improved from when we first got him here. Um, and now, um he has an opportunity, obviously, sitting in that second position to, uh, show that so, but we obviously have confidence he will be able to do that.

As you can tell from this, Andy is very high on Tyler as the man to take snaps when AS11 rides off into the sunset. For those of you that don’t speak Reid, I will interpret it below.

Let’s break this down a bit.

Part 1 –

How has the team done developing quarterbacks behind Alex Smith? OK. Yes, that is right. We have elevated our development game to the level of OK.  Not mediocre or better than most, all  the way to OK. What more could we ask of a coaching staff?

How about Part 2 –

How good is Tyler Bray these days? Greatly improved from when he first arrived in KC.  He has elevated himself from fourth string/IR all the way to off season number 2. Hard to believe, but it happened.

And guess what, being in the second seat he actually has the opportunity to show that improvement. You know, with the second stringers on the practice field and maybe in game 4 of pre-season. Andy Reid has the confidence he will shine in those circumstances.

Upcoming Draft?

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell during the NFL draft at Radio City Music Hall in New York, NY on Saturday, April 28, 2007.

Forget about drafting a QB, we got the man on the roster now. Let’s focus on real needs like LB, RB, CB, Safety. Our QB position is good to go for years to come. Well, with that, I can now go sleep peacefully.

What do you guys think? Are you feeling the same goosebumps I am? Like we have the SB locked down for the next half decade? Let me know.

Until next week, there’s The Rub.
