Week 12: K.C. Hosts Buffalo OPEN THREAD

Call this the “Struggle Bowl” if you will. With both teams struggling as of late, this game will help determine in a big way, what the future direction of each franchise will be. I don’t need to remind you… but I will… of the fact that the K.C. Chiefs have lost 4 of their last five games, and unless they win today, the Patrick Mahomes whispers will get a lot louder. So, here are — 7 Sick Signs — to watch for in this game, clues that could help determine a Chiefs win.

1. If new CB Darrelle Revis plays, do you see rust or riches in the move to sign him this week? Here’s praying for riches.

2. Is Reggie Ragland having an inspirational game against the team who traded him away (and essentially gave up on him) after drafting him in the 2nd round just last year?

3. Is the play calling a mixed bag? If it is, that bodes well for this offense. They need Andy Reid to continue to mix things up including taking shots down the field.

4. The Chiefs Red Zone efficiency must improve. 44.8% is good (or bad, depending on how you look at it) for 30th in the league. Warning: the Bill are 6th in the league.

5. Now here’s a warning for Bills fans: your team has given up the most plays in the league of 10 yards or more this season. This has rhe potential to be a breakout game for the Chiefs.

6. Notice that QB Alex Smith is more comfortable and productive as a result of one of his baby-binky’s returning to action: Albert Wilson.

7. Look for a fresher Derrick Johnson. So, here’s your soothsayers psychic slogans: If DJ is amped… da Bills are cramped… If DJ is crunk… da Bills are junk…If DJ is jacked… da Bills are cracked…If DJ is stoked… da Bills are chocked…If DJ is juiced… then da Bills cook is goosed (so… I’m allowed, I’m dyslexic).

That’s my feel for this game: a breakout scoring fest for the Chiefs. This is the game they’ve been waiting for. A monster production game and the Chiefs will be on the blowout end of the score.

My Prediction: Chiefs 45, Bills 13.

What do you predict?

I still believe Albert Wilson playing will be a major asset if Reid remembers how to use him in motion. Last week against a Cover Two, Reid only used motion on a handful of plays. That allows Cover Two defenses to set up their two safeties and not move anyone during pre-snaps.

  • berttheclock

As I mentioned on David’s thread today, the money deal for Revis comes down to the Chiefs spending only about $353,000 for the remainder of the season with two incentives added. If the Chiefs win the AFC Championship and the Lombardi games, Revis will be paid $1.75 M extra for each win. The problem for the Chiefs will be next March 1st when, if he is on the roster, the Chiefs will owe him $10 M. For the remainder of the season, the Jets are on the hook to pay his 2017 guaranteed contract of $6 M with a discount of the $353 thou paid by the Chiefs.

Sort of ironic that he will start next week against the Jets and the Jets will be picking up the vast majority of the tab.

    • PaulFromNorthMo

That 10 mil is a huge cap hit that we don’t have room for in 2018, so I wonder if Revis plays well the rest of this year and looks like he can contribute, Veach may work out an extension for something like 3 years and lower the 2018 cap hit. And if he doesn’t look like he can play, there is no guaranteed money for next year, so we cut him and nothing lost.

    • berttheclock

One other thing which could be a problem for 2018 would be if Andy Reid is fired, then, Bob Sutton would go with him. Revis said the major reason he signed with KC was Bob Sutton with whom he worked with in NY.

  • berttheclock

Good news about the CBS broadcast. Trent Green will be the analyst.

    • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

When we played the Cowboys….how cool would it been to be able to have a Green/Romo broadcast?

      • berttheclock

I still believe Romo is the best with Charles Davis a close second. But, Trent Green does great work unless it is a pre-season Chiefs game where he wanders off and begins to tell KC stories. But, after Dan Fouts who rarely knows what is happening out there…………..

  • tm1946

Every time we start talking about a breakout game…. the team comes out as flat as a tire at 2 AM.

We need to play like the team we were – at the beginning of the year.

    • berttheclock

“Memories are so beautiful and yet, they’re so easy to remember, but, so hard to forget”.

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

    Chiefs 45?
Love the optimism………now pass me the joint.

    • mnelson52

45 seems to be a lot considering they only got 9 against about the worst defense in football

    • ladner morse

Chiefs seem to have a blowout game at least once per season…. now’s the time.

  • berttheclock

Not quite the picture I wanted to see. Yes, it is sunny at Arrowhead and Smith plays better on warmer days. But, look at the flags for the pre-game ceremonies. The wind is gusting. Smith does not do well against the wind or on cross winds..

    • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

I imagine he would do pretty good with the wind to his back though.

      • berttheclock

        Might even help.

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

Will we see Revis today you think?

    • ladner morse

      No

      • tm1946

Who’s place did he take on the roster?

    • mnelson52

      no they said next week

  • mnelson52

Chiefs give up 3rd and long more often than 3rd and short

    • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

      Another one

    • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

      Better results

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

    Jones sighting!

    • ladner morse

      It’s about time.

      • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

        Agreed

  • ladner morse

    Loving me some Rag Man.

    • mnelson52

I see him improving each week

  • Heilios

    Good stop D!

  • Heilios

    Tyreek Hill!

  • ladner morse

    I’ll take a 6-and-out.

  • Heilios

That was a good punt. We are pinned deep

  • Heilios

Come on Smith do something great!

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

Wow…that is the easiest I think I have seen hunt go down

  • Heilios

    Good hard count!

  • tm1946

Well two plays and we got no blocking for Hunt and Wilson cannot bring a pass in… wow, talk about fired up and ready to play.

  • mnelson52

    Shoulda let the play go

  • Heilios

Well 3 and out. Thats not how I wanted this game to start

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

    Swartz got punked

    • tm1946

Not my kind of RT but Alex dropped to deep, the rusher could run straight at him.

      • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

Swartz with one block and then gave up on the play though…..that’s what it looked like in real time to me anyway.

        • tm1946

On Alex…. RT was backing up to hold the pocket, Alex was behind the pocket by then.

          • Dave

            alex doesnt believe in pockets

  • mnelson52

Has he looked at anyone other than Wilson yet

  • Heilios

    Block in the back?

    • Heilios

      Holding

  • ladner morse

Schwartz did his job of pushing is man deep but Alex doesn’t move up into the pocket? Why?

  • berttheclock

What the hell is wrong with Andy Reid. They had 4 plays including the off sides, but, he only used motion on one play and no play action.

    • tm1946

Seems to be how we start a lot of games…. flat, bills got to the 50 yard line and punted and we pee down our leg for the first set.

      • mnelson52

        Again

        • berttheclock

Motion was used a great deal on our better games. Does Andy really think “Well, they know I used it before, so, I’ll try to fool them?”

          • tm1946

It will be interesting to see how Reid’s message travels as this season finishes.

  • Heilios

    Great tackle Ragland!

  • mnelson52

    RAG MAN

  • Dave

    Defense looking better than offense

  • Heilios

Peters going for the strip instead of the tackle again

  • Heilios

Dirty Dan stepped up and made the tackle!

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

Dirty Dan is underrated I’m telling you

    • mnelson52

Not by me. I like him

  • Dave

Can the offense move to ball or will the pansy take another sack after two dink and dunk passes

    • tm1946

If he can complete the passes and the receiver can do the WCO thing… it works… lots of ifs there.

  • Heilios

So was that not a let hit out of bounds there on Hill?

    • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

Yes….I yelled where is the flag loud enough for my neighbors to hear, and I live in the country

    • mnelson52

      No doubt

  • ladner morse

    First down run again.

    No result.

    • ladner morse

      So tired of that.

  • Heilios

Way too high! Come on Smith!

  • Dave

    another crap throw

  • mnelson52

The line can’t give Hunt a running start

  • ladner morse

    Why did Smith double pump?

  • tm1946

sorry to comment but early, Alex looks less than comfortable passing.

  • Heilios

    Well another 3 and out

  • Dave

    punt up losers

  • ladner morse

Small ball is failing big time.

  • Dave

at least Tyrod can get first downs

  • that pass play was a called play. It is underneath and expects YAC. That is more stupid play-calling by Reid.

    • Chiefly Bacon

Why do you think Reid calls that play? Cause he just watched Smith overthrow an open Robinson 10 yds down the field.

    • berttheclock

Exactly. Plus, he did use motion on the pass play to Robinson who if the throw had been better would have had a 1st down.

  • tm1946

Problem with those underneath passes (outlet?), you still have to run thru all the defenders after you catch it.

  • Heilios

If we aren’t going to get anywhere in this game as much as I’d hate to say it I wouldn’t mind seeing Mahomes play in the second half

    • Dave

Fat chance Chiefs report says they arent considering it this year

      • Heilios

I wasn’t considering losing this game either. Things change

    • tm1946

Bit early…. maybe sometime next year….

  • Chiefly Bacon

It’s becoming more and more obvious that Smith is what’s holding this offense back.

    • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

I guess he could have thrown it at the back of Kelce’s jersey

    • berttheclock

BULL!!!!!! Andy Reid is holding this team back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • mnelson52

        exactly

      • Chiefly Bacon

Reid has a long history of fielding dominant offenses. What has Smith ever done?

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

Rewind and watch…..by the time the defense got to Smith, none of our receivers had even turned around yet

    • Dave

and whats the Alex excuse for whiffing on the ten yard pass play second down

      • Chiefly Bacon

        amen

      • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

No excuse there…I yelled at him

  • mnelson52

The only reason they went 3 and out is because they didn’t go for it on 4th…lol They could have gone 4 and out.

  • Dave

notice how Tyrod steps up in pocket?

  • tm1946

Gaining yardage with punts…. our offense can stay dormant for the first half.

  • Heilios

    Bad snap there

  • Chiefly Bacon

Smith overthrew that by like 20 yards.

  • tm1946

Either the Bills CBs are really good or our WR are not interested in playing today.

    • well hell, make up yor mind, which will it be?

      • tm1946

in our case, not sure the WRs are all that involved in anything related to football – for some reason.

    • mnelson52

      not just today

  • ladner morse

    WTF!

  • Heilios

Seriously? Two damn people trying to catch the ball???

  • this is god damned awful. WTF? OFFENSE? quick screen? Shit.

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

    Smiths fault

    • Heilios

That was coaching all the way

      • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

I know, I was being sarcastic

        • Heilios

It could be smiths fault too. Hell its actually Berrys fault. Curse you Bowe!

    • how is it Smith’s fault with 2 guys trying to make the catch?

      • mnelson52

The only ones fooled on that play was the Chiefs

  • I am getting angry now. This shit has got to stop.

    • tm1946

OK but how? Reid is playing his game… pretty much what he does most games. Calls plays if they work, nice, if not he says he has to coach better and see you next Sunday.

  • ladner morse

    3 X 3-&-OUT = Reid

  • Chiefly Bacon

That was just a bad play call, but remember Andy Reid is respected for designing an offense that’s tailored to his QBs Strengths, if you don’t like the offense, ask yourself, what are Smith’s strengths?

    • tm1946

Do not buy that for a moment… Alex has been here for years, no backup has played enough to sweat in his jock… Reid has what he wants or he would change things….

    • His passes are accurate, he doesn’t make mistakes and turn the ball over. He runs the plays Reid calls. His weakness? not checking out to his own called play.

      • Chiefly Bacon

        His pass WERE accurate FIFY

  • Heilios

BRING BACK THE BOWE SHOW! lol

    • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

Bowe on the slant all day long!!!

      • Heilios

        And downfield blocking!

    • ladner morse

      Nooooooo

      • Heilios

        It couldn’t be worse.

    • Dave

Bowe is a wide receiver Alex doesn’t throw to those.

      • Heilios

He would be there strictly to block downfield for Hunt! Lets get a petition going!

  • mnelson52

    Heck of a spot

  • great read and hit by Rags

  • tm1946

Bills starting to move the ball … if you didn’t notice… and our offense is on the side lines without a single first down.

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

This is a decoy act right?
This is just to throw people off come playoffs

  • see what we are seeing? Ragland and Pierre-Louis making plays. first down though, pass rus, Dirty Dan dive is roughing the passer.

  • ladner morse

This is making me sick to my stomach.

    • tm1946

Peters seem to be lollygagging and chasing.

  • Dave

    hahaha f the Chiefs

  • ladner morse

When the F will Reid get a wake up call?

    • Dave

      he doesn’t change. Ever.

    • tm1946

With his next team…. we are just about done blindly hoping for some kind of change.

  • Chiefly Bacon

Buffalo has allowed 45 points per game over the last three weeks. Is anybody really gonna try to tell me that there’s nothing wrong with Smith? Play selection hasn’t been great, execution has been poor, but with the opportunities that Smith has actually had he’s been wildly inaccurate.

    • tm1946

Good to know Reid has his team fired up for another Sunday game. 45 points per game… Reid should be able to get a couple of field goals.

    • mnelson52

Giants were giving up a lot till they played us also

  • Dave

    Tyrod Taylor > Alex Smith

  • Heilios

So are we looking to get a plane and banner together? I may know a guy…

    • Heilios

Maybe we could get a repeat customer discount?

  • ladner morse

    OMG… of course!

  • Heilios

If we don’t get some offense going here we are done for

  • tm1946

Backup TEs can sure play if you do not need to catch passes or not commit penalties..

  • ladner morse

    RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • ladner morse

      Gag me!

    • tm1946

Running into a box… got to make them play honest and throw deep… at least once.

  • Chiefly Bacon

One thing I will say about Reid’s play-calling. It’s mind-numbingly stupid to run on 1st down every time.

  • ladner morse

    RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • ladner morse

      Gag me again!

    • Heilios

Laddie I think you are stuck in a loop

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

Hunt can’t get crap anymore…Smiths fault

    • Chiefly Bacon

Kinda. How deep is the coverage? How many guys on the line? You think they’re putting that many guys in the box on Roethlesburger?

      • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

It takes time for guys to get open down field, something Smith doesn’t get, who do you want him to throw to?

        • tm1946

Not sure it is all Alex…. Reid call the plays.

  • Chiefly Bacon

Throw deep. It’s what the defense dictates, oh wait…

  • Heilios

    Big time jump by Smith

  • Heilios

    I think he has it!

  • mnelson52

    Challenge

  • PaulFromNorthMo

Trusts his legs, not his arm.

  • tm1946

Alex jumping in the air is going to get him hurt and for what…. not much else is happening.

    • Dave

      for Mahommes!!!

      • tm1946

Gag me with a dead possum…. he could hand off and stand around and watch the others play…. you forgot Reid is still calling plays.

        • Dave

Reid is also useless don’t get it wrong

  • ladner morse

Is that what you want: your QB jumping for a first down at your own 15 yard line?

    • PaulFromNorthMo

Not if he could actually get one passing!

  • Chiefly Bacon

Might as well go to the option runs. At least Smith can run with the ball.

  • Heilios

At least Smith isn’t ready to roll over and take it. He’s still fighting

    • Dave

yea for sure he will fight! dink and dunk and over throw and under throw! Fight Fight Fight

  • Chiefly Bacon

I watch Carson Wentz, remember he's running the #Chiefs offense, and immediately get sad.— Brandon Kiley (@BKSportsTalk) November 26, 2017

  • Heilios

    Reid actually challenged it

    • tm1946

Wasted effort … fat Andy is getting nuttier every game.

  • Heilios

His feet don’t touch until past the line!

  • Dave

    no first down

  • Chiefly Bacon

That’s either a 1st down or a late hit out bounds. Of course, since it’s Chiefs will probably get neither.

    • Heilios

      Neither

    • tm1946

Chiefs are not making plays… piss on where he went out of bounds…. we need some plays the players can execute.

  • Dave

Ready for some Boos Ready for Some Chants

  • Chiefly Bacon

2nd down: Kareem Hunt gets Waterbody’d.3rd down: Demarcus Robinson appears wide open, and within Smith’s vision, the QB instead decides to take a spleen shot short of the sticks.— Sam Mellinger (@mellinger) November 26, 2017

  • ladner morse

    No First Downs.

Maybe we could set a record today.

    • tm1946

At Arrowhead…. did someone tell Reid there was a real game today… fire him at halftime… anyone could do this well.

  • Heilios

    Well, that sucked

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

They are already almost in field-goal range again LOL!!

  • mnelson52

Well ok then. Still no 1st downs. 18 total yards out of 12 plays

  • Heilios

There’s a reason Colquit is so well paid. He is going to earn his money today

    • tm1946

Always a sign of an “elite” team when the punter and kicker are the best on the roster.

      • Heilios

We do have a good kicker!

  • ladner morse

What I meant to say is that… Reggie Ragland would breakout today.

  • Heilios

Holy hell peters went for a tackle! He whiffed but he went for it!

    • tm1946

I thought he was beside it ?

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

When was the last time we have had a sack?

    • Heilios

      When was y2k?

    • tm1946

When was the offense involved in a drive?

      • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

        Lol

    • mnelson52

      Seems like 20 games ago

    • Dave

They have Houston and Zombo playing every snap s

  • 0-10. Quite the dynamic game plan Andy.

  • drwillez37

What happened to our team!!???? For real how did this implode the way it did, I’m just at a complete lose

    • Dave

Alex Smith turned into Alex Smith and Andy Reid turned into Andy Reid

      • drwillez37

My god I think I’m gonna vomit!!!!

  • Heilios

Well if I wasnt to see the Chiefs win today I need to get out Madden and get cracking

  • tm1946

Now we can kick 3 field goals and still lose…. UNCLE…. early but no reason to deal with this any more today.

  • mnelson52

Nothing like getting shutout at home against a terrible defense

  • Heilios

    Do people still watch survivor?

  • berttheclock

The Buffalo offensive line is looking very good. Wonder why? Could it have anything to do with Juan Castillo being their coach. The same man of whom Andy Reid treated so shabbily in Philly and, as a result, refused to follow Reid to KC?

Or their QB looking good under the coaching of David Culley, the former wide out coach for KC, who wanted to move somewhere he could find a chance to work his way up to becoming a HC in the NFL?

  • Heilios

    They didnt run it!

  • Heilios

Get on the ball and snap it

  • Chiefly Bacon

Boy, that was sure a GREAT snap by Smith huh? He did SO much better with more time in the pocket.

  • Heilios

    Way too high again!

  • Chiefly Bacon

    Smith sucks.

    • berttheclock

So was the pick of Mahomes II.

      • Chiefly Bacon

That doesn’t even make grammatical sense, let alone logical.

        • berttheclock

Who the hell really cares, Homer!

          • berttheclock

Sorry, but, I am really getting sick and tired of the Alex Smith bashing.

          • Chiefly Bacon

I’m getting sick of his play. We’re all frustrated for various valid reasons.

          • Heilios

The playcalling is crap and so is the execution. Smith is at least trying to make something out of nothing.

          • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

It’s going to take MaHomes to come out and also stink it up with this dysfunctional bunch before they can see.

      • berttheclock

Actually, Andy Reid is the one who really sucks.

  • drwillez37

Penalties pop warner quality blocking poor execution. I feel bad for the defense looks like their playing all game on the field. This team needs to be blown up Dorsey was a wolf in sheep’s clothing, fabian society that formed our team into flat heartless awfully coached catastrophic nightmare

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

    Hanging onto Kelce…no flag

    • mnelson52

They got those calls when they were playing well. When you play this bad, you don’t get the breaks

  • Heilios

    3 and out again

  • drwillez37

Smith could complete a throw to literally save his career

  • Dave

yea he didn’t have any time to throw…….

  • Heilios

Poor Colquitt his leg is going to be numb by halftime

  • Chiefly Bacon

Hey guys, if we hadn’t drafted Mahomes, Smith could have maybe had a whole extra second to dance around in the pocket before he overthrew a brand new WR! Or better yet, maybe our defense could’ve have secured a great CB so that they could hold teams to less than 9 points so that we could actually win games with this offense! Boy I’m sure sorry that we WASTED that pick.

  • Heilios

    Man Ragland is crushing it

  • Chiefly Bacon

Eric Murray could have stopped that. Didn’t help Nelson.

  • Heilios

Would Revis had made a difference today?

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

Our corners do not like contact

  • Heilios

If Taylor wants to run it let Ragland have him

  • drwillez37

No one tackles!!! How u gonna stand there and watch a guy fight for a 1st

  • mnelson52

Is Reid doing this on purpose to have a good Reason to bring in PM II? He’s not calling games even close to what he did the 1st 5 games. Will he change QBs if we reach a 6-6 record?

    • Heilios

I dont think he would sabotage a winning season that could potentially result in a super bowl just to get a different quarterback. He is the head coach and could change quarterbacks at any time.

      • mnelson52

I agree. Just trying to get crap started…lol

        • Heilios

Well so was I but no one wanted to bring Bowe back

          • mnelson52

We really could use his blocking

          • Heilios

He could step in on the o line. It couldn’t hurt

  • Chiefly Bacon

Don't know whether there is more or less than meets the eye to this Smith play last 2 weeks, but it's not just bad passes. Presence, reads, etc. Something seems to have changed entirely.— Vahe Gregorian (@vgregorian) November 26, 2017

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

I have witnessed the Bills hike the ball and our defensive line just stand up straight and basically give up at the snap….something is up.

    • Chiefly Bacon

It’s called being on the field for the entire first half. Chiefs offense STILL without a first down.

      • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

        I miss dink and dunk

      • PaulFromNorthMo

        Yep, our D is tired.

  • Tony Parker

Somebody ask REID if this smells like chloroform so we can have someone else call the plays, put Mahomes in, AS is playing like crap. It can’t get any worse.

  • drwillez37

Why won’t we run the ball

    • Heilios

      Because it isnt working

      • drwillez37

No thing is including my spell check

      • Dave

you pound it til it works. Ever seen Eddie George? He got going in second half of games

        • drwillez37

          Yes that’s what I’m saying

        • mnelson52

I’ve seen Hunt have a good 2nd halve after pounding the defense the 1st half

    • JimHarbaughsguys

5 runs for 4 yards is why.

  • Heilios

    Good tackle Zombo!

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

    A break??

    • Heilios

      A miracle

      • mnelson52

        Will it matter?

        • Heilios

          Probably not.

  • ladner morse

Best field position the Chiefs have had all day.

  • Heilios

    BRING BACK MCCLUSTER!

    • Heilios

No one ever agrees with me!

      • PaulFromNorthMo

        i’ll agree with that.

        • Heilios

          Thanks!

    • mnelson52

Doesn’t matter who we have if we don’t use them

  • Heilios

    First down!

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

Bring back the dink and dunk…..this OL stinks and can’t hold up to long ball.

  • Heilios

Butker getting warmed up because he knows a 60+ yard field goal is coming up

    • mnelson52

Yes, unless we get that 60 yd TD, but we can’t string enough plays together otherwise

      • Heilios

I think he has the leg for it but Reid will probably have us punt

  • Heilios

I have something we all can agree on. At least Tyler Palko isn’t under center for us.

  • mnelson52

Bills have seen our 2 minute defense and wants the ball

  • Chiefly Bacon

Smith missed seeing Kelce wide open.

    • PaulFromNorthMo

Is that a surprise any more? How many open receivers has he missed this game, this year, as a Chief.

  • Heilios

    Kelce wide open. Man.

    • mnelson52

Smith was also late getting the ball to Wilson

      • Heilios

        And high

  • Heilios

See Butker could have hit a 65 yarder

  • Dave

Surprise Suprise Alex comes up short again

  • drwillez37

It was short anyhow!!!! Mean while Kelce is open for a touchdown again!!!

  • ladner morse

I hate to bring this up but…. Mahomes would have made that throw 9 times out of 10.

  • drwillez37

Alex Smith is the weakest link at the most important position. He’s the one that’s running the offense he’s always missing the wide open WR he’s throwing short of the sticks. Then from the Reid is #2

  • ladner morse

Does Bob Sutton know that you can put pressure in the QB?

    • mnelson52

He seems to think we’ll lose if we keep the QB under pressure

    • Chiefly Bacon

Our guys are too gassed to get there. If he sends a blitz, the QB just gets the ball out.

      • JimHarbaughsguys

Were they that way getting off the bus (gassed)?

  • mnelson52

At least that 1st down insured us not to get the ball back

  • PaulFromNorthMo

Did you see that hit by Peters?

    • Heilios

      What hit?

      • JimHarbaughsguys

        That’s mean
        : )

    • mnelson52

      NO

  • mnelson52

Bills got that 3 right back

  • Heilios

Oh Hill time for a TD

  • Heilios

If Reid has smith kneel on it he has officially given up on this game

    • mnelson52

He knows a score can happen, he did it to the Cowboys. I hate when they don’t even try

      • ladner morse

        Have to agree.

    • JimHarbaughsguys

      What the hell?
Reid is not even trying to trust his offense. Give it a shot. Toss it deep, see what happens.

  • Heilios

    Boo boo boo!

  • Heilios

Ok my phone is dying I’ll check back with you at the endof the game

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

MaHomes most likely finds Kelce on that last offensive 3rd and 7……I will admit that……..problem I have with Mahomes, is that is what he is always looking for, and he doesn’t care the amount of traffic he has to throw into to try and get it.

    • Chiefly Bacon

But we don’t really know that. We know what he was in college, don’t know what he is what he would play like now. I’d at least like to find out. I have a hard time imagining anyone playing worse than Smith has today.

      • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

I will give you that, I just don’t know if any QB could perform well with what we are seeing from everybody.

        • mnelson52

O-line has sucked for weeks also. Smith is back to his happy feet, and accuracy has been dropping off weekly

          • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

Maybe we should get our long snapper out there every offensive play…that way Alex gets an extra second or two…lol

      • mnelson52

        But we got a 1st down…lol

    • Dave

who cares what he does? This season is done with Alex Smith. We aren’t winning a super bowl. The offense is going backward. Alex is not the future, they drafted the future. It is actually pointless for Alex Smith to be our QB any longer seeing as how terrible he is.

  • ladner morse

    Let me join in…

    Boooooooooooooooooooooo

    Boooooooooooooooooooooo

    Boooooooooooooooooooooo

    Boooooooooooooooooooooo

    • mnelson52

      2nd that

  • Chiefly Bacon

    Booo Boooo BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

  • PaulFromNorthMo

Look on the bright side guys, we don’t play the Browns this year. It would be kinda embarrassing to lose to them.

    • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

      Good point….always the optimist

  • JimHarbaughsguys

How does Taylor have 24 attempts at half time?

    • Chiefly Bacon

Our defense has essentially played an entire game of football in a half.

  • PaulFromNorthMo

How does an NFL team only put up 57 yards in a half?

    • drwillez37

      I dont know my brotha

      • PaulFromNorthMo

They’re coached by Andy Reid and QBed by Alex Smith!

  • drwillez37

My poor son got bit on the face by his friends old ass dog. It was his 1st sleepover I feel so bad for him but he’s like his daddy he wanted to stay still and kept playing but the dog was brought to grandma’s

    • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

That sucks…he sounds like a trooper though

      • drwillez37

He is my in laws are driving me up the wall with that lawyer crap. I’m like I have 2 dogs the bit looks bad but no stiches thank god it wasn’t the other way around at my house. Things happen the old is 18 years old, u don’t sue people over things like this. We should sue Clark Hunt for giving Reid 5 year extension

  • PaulFromNorthMo

Did Barnum and Bailey buy the Chiefs from the Hunts and we didn’t know? They have a team full of clowns and a NFL sized stadium to perform in.

  • Chiefly Bacon

I blame Bob Sutton and the defense. Don’t they know that Chiefs can only be good on one side of the ball at a time? Making the defense better was just ASKING for the offense to suck.

    • JimHarbaughsguys

      Has Revis come in yet?

      • PaulFromNorthMo

Revis is inactive today, we won’t see him till next week.

        • JimHarbaughsguys

I was hoping to see him, Hill and Wilson run into each other on yet the zillionth WR screen pass.

      • Chiefly Bacon

Next week. So the offense will get even worse.

    • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

25+ years of watching this team be good on only one side of the ball…..so friggin frustrating.
I thought this was the year that would change……..guess not.

  • mnelson52

Maybe we need to go back to our backup O-linemen. They helped win 5 straight games

  • JimHarbaughsguys

    Kelce taketh and givith away

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

    Our OL is a joke

  • Chiefly Bacon

Kelce for 10 yards, Reid: Hey we don’t get that many yards on one play!
Kelce: Sorry coach I’ll make it right. False start.

  • JimHarbaughsguys

Why don’t we run Hunt more
    That is one reason.

    This OL sucks

  • JimHarbaughsguys

    2nd and 25
    dear

  • JimHarbaughsguys

Was that Robinson pass a screen?

  • mnelson52

    Too high again

  • Chiefly Bacon

    Overthrown again.

    • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

Robinson clearly stopped way too short…everything is not Smith’s fault

      • JimHarbaughsguys

Or maybe he is trying to grow his height

  • drwillez37

Why is it always 3rd and long

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

Look at Harris showing some life!

    • JimHarbaughsguys

Teams don’t figure that they have to cover him at all.

  • mnelson52

Harris has some fight in him

  • drwillez37

    Run the ball!!!!

    • JimHarbaughsguys

      How about with Hunt.
      I know, I’m wishing.

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

Somebody gave you guys a halftime talk, different crew

  • drwillez37

I’m on a delay so I might not make sense

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

    Wilson!!!!!!!!

    • JimHarbaughsguys

      did what?

      • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

        Scored!

        • JimHarbaughsguys

          on a screen?

          • Chiefly Bacon

            How’d ya guess? 🙂

          • JimHarbaughsguys

            Damn
I was hoping it was some other play so that way Reid would call those other short passes (quick slant anybody!!!) and stop with the screens.

          • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

            Yes…haha

  • mnelson52

    Wow no penalty

  • Chiefly Bacon

Reid finally decided to kick some ass in the locker room.

    • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

That was clearly a different bunch than we seen in the first half, I don’t know what was said at halftime but, it worked

      • berttheclock

Trent Green said it was mostly stern.

      • mnelson52

Wish he had said it weeks ago

        • berttheclock

More than just saying. It comes down far more to play calling, using motion and play action, as well.

          • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

To me, it looked more like attitude

          • berttheclock

Andy Reid became far too vanilla. You really do need to use motion and play action especially because teams are using Cover Two and trying to jam Hunt at the LOS.

          • ladner morse

I just don’t get his transition to VANILLA? Why? It’s apparent, but why?

          • mnelson52

Yes Reid is mostly to blame

  • mnelson52

As bad as we have looked, we’re back in the game

  • berttheclock

Play action to Hunt. Wonders never cease. Who would have thought Reid might remember that?

    • JimHarbaughsguys

I saw last weeks game and don’t think I saw a single play action play from KC

      • berttheclock

Yet, as I said below every team in the league after the first five games knew they had to jam Hunt.

  • Heilios

    MOAR SCREENS

  • ladner morse

    Friggin Marcus Peters

  • Chiefly Bacon

And of course, since the offense did ok, the defense will now suck.

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

Peters can really suck at times

  • Heilios

    Peters should of had that

  • Heilios

    Ragland!

    • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

Veach might have scored on that one

  • ladner morse

    Give me more Rag!

  • mnelson52

Well lets just let them get that 7 right back

  • mnelson52

    FINALLY

  • ladner morse

    Coverage sack

    • Heilios

What is this coverage you speak of?

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

They can thank our secondary for that sack

    • Heilios

I don’t think ive heard those words all season.

  • mnelson52

    Still a one possession game

    • Heilios

      Amazingly

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

We score again here, you heard it here first

    • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

      This time Kelce

    • Heilios

I don’t think Butker can hit a 80 yarder. He can try though

      • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

        I’d like to see that

        • mnelson52

          Maybe with 2 seconds left

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

    Atta boy Alex

  • Heilios

Smith is our leading rusher today.

    • JimHarbaughsguys

      Never a good sign

  • mnelson52

    our longest run

    • JimHarbaughsguys

      By Alex?

      • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

        Yes

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

We are at our best when using trickery

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

    Ugh

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

Why blow the whistle so soon?

  • JimHarbaughsguys

I go away for a few minutes and the D allowed 3 points?

  • Heilios

    Good hard count smith

  • mnelson52

Shoulda let them have the free play

    • Heilios

      Right?

      • mnelson52

        He’s not Rodgers

        • Heilios

          Ahh I see.

  • Chiefly Bacon

So Alex Smith just needs more time huh?

    • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

Did you view that as a lot of clean time?

      • JimHarbaughsguys

Alex should have thrown it hard at the DL, let it deflect off his chest, catch it, and run for a TD.

        • Heilios

Is that too much to ask for?

          • JimHarbaughsguys

            Why not?

      • Chiefly Bacon

Perfect pocket? No. Good enough for a QB to opperate out of? Yes. Smith looked like he was ready to get sacked like 3 seconds before he was. Had time to throw it away at least.

  • Heilios

    Why not throw it away?

    • ladner morse

It’s like Smith has forgotten how to throw it away.

      • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

        Desperate to make something happen

        • Chiefly Bacon

He should be, he’s played like a veteran backup, but needs to know when to throw it away.

        • mnelson52

Sometimes you have to look for an open receiver to make something happen

          • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

            Open receiver?
            Blahahaha!!!
            Good one

          • mnelson52

Not saying anything in particular, but, they are open enough for a strong arm to hit them.

  • JimHarbaughsguys

So much for the long snapper play

  • ladner morse

Smith is playing his way off the team.

    • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

I am ready to see it happen, so when Mahomes has the same results I can say I told you so……..sadly, me team will suck regardless.

      • ladner morse

Sad state of affairs for you.

        • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

          Yes

      • Chiefly Bacon

Funny, I’m ready to see it happen for the same reason. For the glorious “I told you so”. That said, Mahomes probably won’t be a world beater right away. Many elite QBs have had less than stellar stats their first year. In the long run I htink he’ll be way better than Smith though.

  • JimHarbaughsguys

    9 yards on a 1st down run
2nd and 1 is the perfect position for any play call

  • Heilios

    Great stop!

  • Chiefly Bacon

    Dirty Dan!

    • Heilios

You beat me by a millisecond!

  • Heilios

    Dirty Dan!

  • mnelson52

    DD

  • ladner morse

    Atta boy Danny!

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

    Dirty Dan….all heart

  • JimHarbaughsguys

    A sack?!!
    Miracle of miracles

  • Heilios

Tyreek you are going the wrong way?

    • JimHarbaughsguys

he and Alex think they are going to the opposite endzone.

  • Chiefly Bacon

Tanoh Kpassagnon with the initial pressure on the Sorenson sack.

    • mnelson52

Too much typing. I’ll just call him TK

  • Heilios

I have two words for all of you grumpy guys. Brodie Croyle

    • JimHarbaughsguys

      Trivia time?

      • Heilios

        Tyler Thigpen! Lol

        • JimHarbaughsguys

          I actually know those names

          • Heilios

I saw Thigpen get destroyed by the Bucs at arrowhead. It was bad

          • Heilios

I also saw Tyler Palko pretend to be a professional quarterback. Somehow he convinced Todd Haley with what I can only assume is a copious amounts of drugs

    • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

And just about everybody else previous to Smith

  • mnelson52

    Should use Robinson more

    • JimHarbaughsguys

Should get some better Ol to use all the WR’s more

      • mnelson52

agreed. This is the O-line play I expected this year though

  • Chiefly Bacon

I’m ready to give up on the run today. Not sure whether it’s Hunt, the OL, or David Culley teaching the defense how to read Chiefs run game, but it ain’t workin.

    • JimHarbaughsguys

You want to have D’s pin their ears back and just send the pass rush on this OL?

      • Chiefly Bacon

Can mitigate that with designed QB runs and zone read stuff.

        • JimHarbaughsguys

AS is already your leading rusher.

          • Chiefly Bacon

It’s the only thing he can do consistently well, might as well make the best of it.

          • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

He has definitely gotten good at running behind this offense of line

  • JimHarbaughsguys

God this OL can’t do crap.
Hunt has 10 rushes for 15 yards!!

  • ladner morse

    Run, run, screen pass?

    Give me a break!

    • JimHarbaughsguys

That is a disaster of a play call series given how piss poor the team is at running the ball.

      • mnelson52

That’s mostly a lack of blocking. If you win games in the trenches, I’m surprised we’re this close

        • JimHarbaughsguys

The Bills aren’t a super powerhouse. That helps keep games close.

And I’m not saying Hunt sucks. He doesn’t. The guys who block do. And if an Ol can’t pass protect or run block, they should be fired immediately. Just how much worse could a new OL play?

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

    Now that is pass rush!!!

    • Heilios

      Send the kitchen sink

    • mnelson52

Don’t know why we don’t do it more often. especially on 3rd down

  • Chiefly Bacon

Man, if the #Chiefs put Mahomes in, he might make some rookie mistake like taking a 16-yard sack or missing wide open receivers. Can't have that.— Matt Verderame (@MattVerderame) November 26, 2017

  • JimHarbaughsguys

    Hunt has get going

  • Heilios

    Well that went nowhere

    • JimHarbaughsguys

      It did go somewhere.
      Backwards.

      • mnelson52

        nowhere would have been better

        • JimHarbaughsguys

A killing the clock play would have been better.
          That’s sad

  • JimHarbaughsguys

Stop the trick plays Reid. Instead of wasting time practicing these things, why not focus on getting the guys to block?

    • Heilios

How dare you expect blocking! Off with your head!

    • Chiefly Bacon

If the guys could block, that trick play would have worked. lol

  • mnelson52

Making Bills look like a top 5 defense just as we did the Giants

  • JimHarbaughsguys

Every Buf drive starts with McCoy getting the ball and getting positive yards on 1st down.
Somebody on KC may want to look at that.

    • mnelson52

They look at it with every Bills possession

      • JimHarbaughsguys

Is asking them to stop it a problem? Just send everybody his direction.

  • mnelson52

I sure don’t see us beating Jets in NY next week either

  • Heilios

Taylor juked Parker out of his shoes

  • Heilios

    12 men penalty. Bad coaching

    • JimHarbaughsguys

      I disagree.

Good coaching. Just got caught. Maybe KC should try this 12 man thing more often

    • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

      Nope….that’s on Smith

      • mnelson52

        Has to be

        • JimHarbaughsguys

Does Smith get the credit for the holding penalty on Buffalo as well?

          • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

            Nope…..no credit for Smith.

          • JimHarbaughsguys

So Alex must not have any credit history then
            lol

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

    So much time…..sigh

  • ladner morse

From FG to… Punt. Good job Zombo.

    • mnelson52

Actually, Zombo has been pretty solid this game

  • JimHarbaughsguys

If KC gets the ball out of their end at all, and it is 4th down, they need to go for it.

    • mnelson52

They need to remember what they did to start this half

      • JimHarbaughsguys

They made a pass or two that wasn’t behind the LOS, and they could run a bit afterwards.
But they didn’t like that. Not in their comfort zone. So, they stopped it.

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

    No flag??

    • JimHarbaughsguys

      That’s sad.
A good run, and you immediately expect a flag.

      • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

It look like he got Jerk down by his helmet

        • mnelson52

          yep

        • JimHarbaughsguys

          oh..
          forget it

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

My God they were on Smith in half a second there….it’s amazing he got that one off

    • JimHarbaughsguys

It was all part of the plan (joker voice)

  • mnelson52

now one of 11 on 3rd down

    • JimHarbaughsguys

Can Reid ever send his WR’s past the 1st down marker on 3rd down?

      • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

That is one of the most frustrating thing watching this offense

      • Chiefly Bacon

He just did it on 4th down and Alex Smith missed the throw. I think you see why he doesn’t do it.

  • mnelson52

    bad pass

    • mnelson52

Hill was open till he had to dive toward the ground

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

We needed 4 yard and went deep, we need 10 yards and throw a screen pass…….this offense is alf hass backward…lol

    • Chiefly Bacon

Smith had Wilson wide open on 4th down. Wilson knew he was gonna be open too. Tried to wave at Smith before the snap, but Smith didn’t see it.

  • Chiefly Bacon

If the only pass you can trust Smith to complete is a screen pass, put Mahomes in. Higher ball velocity will help the screen game. Feels like Smith’s throws to the flat take forever to get there. Give the defense time to react.

  • mnelson52

Need pick 6 to have a chance

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

All right Smith, you’ve been given another chance

    • Chiefly Bacon

      Yes, but why? WHY!!!

    • mnelson52

      only 86 yds to go

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

    Bad field position all day

  • JimHarbaughsguys

Though in a different context today, Buff does have over twice the rushing yardage that KC has today.
That almost assuredly ends in a loss.

    • mnelson52

especially when most of ours are by the QB

    • Chiefly Bacon

Yes, but that is 1000% the offense’s fault.

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

Smith had a little bit out of pocket to work with there

  • mnelson52

    nice

  • mnelson52

    Get Robinson and Kelce involved

    • JimHarbaughsguys

Gotta think Buffalo is at least 2 teaming Kelce right now.

  • mnelson52

    bad call

    • Heilios

Yup really bad if I were a bills fan id be pissed

  • Chiefly Bacon

Smith with a great pocket, finds West for 3 yards.

  • JimHarbaughsguys

West in the game….guarantee a pass.

I recall Hunt making a ton of great plays via the pass to start the year. He is completely unused now.

  • Chiefly Bacon

Who still wants Smith to start for this team? Seriously?

    • mnelson52

He may still be our best option, but since we’re going to miss the playoffs anyway, I would like to see PM II get some reps to be ready for next year instead of starting with no experience.

  • mnelson52

    Game over

  • ladner morse

The player the Bills took after they traded away pick #10. CB White

    • Chiefly Bacon

Honestly don’t care. Chiefs didn’t need a CB to win this game, they needed a QB.

      • ladner morse

        I would agree.

      • berttheclock

No as usual you have your Homer blinders on. Did you happen to see Reid use motion in the 2nd half? Did you see him use play action? This game is strictly on Andy Hapless Reid.

        • JimHarbaughsguys

Why isn’t Hunt used in the passing game anymore?
He was instrumental in the first 5 games in the passing game. Now, he is taken out!

        • Chiefly Bacon

Did you see the Chiefs defense suck? Your argument is Chiefs should’ve spent those picks on defense. Defense had nothing to do with why they lost today. You can deflect all you want, but the fact remains, Chiefs drafted an obvious replacement for Smith for an obvious reason. Smith is bad. If Chiefs hadn’t drafted Mahomes you know what we would be saying? We’d be saying, dang, our defense is great, but we still can’t win any games. I sure wish we had some hope besides Smith at QB.

          • berttheclock

Pure Hogwash. Great defenses win Championships,

          • ladner morse

Bingo. Right on the nail head.

          • berttheclock

            Pure Hogwash!

  • berttheclock

That pick was by White, who the Bills took at 27. He was the player Dorsey should have drafted and never never never never never moved up to take The Savior Mahomes II. That is pure KARMA.

    • Chiefly Bacon

Explain to me what difference a CB would have made in this game huh? How would having another CB help you win this game. Are you saying that you expect the defense to hold the other team to UNDER 13 POINTS.

      • berttheclock

The team needed a quality DB and the last draft was full of them. We did NOT need a QBOTF. You place far too much credit on QBs. You build a great defense to win championships. You can win such with an average QB.

        • Chiefly Bacon

Stop defelecting and just answer my question. How does a CB help us win this game?

          • mnelson52

Maybe Bills don’t score their TD

          • Chiefly Bacon

So our expectation is that, in order to win, we have to hold the other team to 9 points? That’s gonna work out well.

          • mnelson52

well if we had 10 last week, we wouldn’t have lost in OT. 9 would have worked. Unfortunately we both had 9

  • berttheclock

This is not a playoff team. Now, the Chiefs are just one game ahead of the hot Chargers of whom will terrorize the secondary of the Chiefs.

Andy Reid must go. Plus, take his coaching staff except for Dave Toub.

    • Chiefly Bacon

He can take Alex Smith too.

      • berttheclock

Have a ton of fun with your Savior Mahomes II and a very poor supporting cast.

        • Chiefly Bacon

I will. Can’t wait to see a real QB who can throw the ball more than 5 yards.

          • berttheclock

And a defense which will have major holes to not be able to stop anyone in important games.

          • Chiefly Bacon

Defense has held their last two opponents to 9 points and 13 points. Offense can’t even beat bad teams with Smith at the helm.

          • berttheclock

You really fail to see how poor Andy Reid is at calling plays.

          • mnelson52

It all starts with Andy and trickles in through the whole team.

    • drwillez37

How bout make Toub the head coach

      • mnelson52

If they don’t someone else will. STs have not looked as good this year though. Even this game the Bills had 124 return yds to our 0 return yds. That was the biggest difference in the game.

  • Dave

anyone left defending Alex the loser Smith?

    • drwillez37

      I don’t beleive so dave

      • mnelson52

Reid just got a new contract. I don’t see Clark firing him any time soon

  • drwillez37

It’s really happening boys and girls…it’s unbelievably sad and gut wrenching. We all deserve better it’s not fair to us, the real hardcore fans that spend endless amounts of time given to this franchise. And we deserve an apology I can’t think of anything else to say. Revis is here!!! Duhhhh!!!! I got tickets for next weeks game duhhbhh!!!!

    • Dave

its for the good this sh-t squad doesn’t deserve to win that game. The more losses the more likely Mahommes get some experience this year so that next year it’s not his first game.

      • drwillez37

        I’m ready

        • drwillez37

He should make Reid look alot better

      • Chiefly Bacon

        Preach it BRUTHA!!!

  • berttheclock

Andy Reid lost this game. Andy Reid has lost this team. Yet, so many of you only want to pin it on Alex Smith. Just love your blinders.

    • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

So much ails this team…..at this point, I don’t care if they make a quarterback switch, why not really.

      • berttheclock

I would love to see Alex Smith go to a much better coached NFL team. He really deserves it, especially, after having to play with Reid. Alex on his own would call far better games than Reid.

        • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

I actually believe this very much so

        • Chiefly Bacon

Oh yeah cause Smith was SOOO much better when he was with Harbaugh right? Oh I guess that’s cause Harbaugh’s not a good coach right? Man must suck for any coach who coaches Smith as he then gets labeled as a bad coach for not being able to make Smith look good.

          • berttheclock

Why don’t you do far better research to his time with the Niners. You are simply spouting Gibberish.

          • Chiefly Bacon

Look for yourself. Smith threw for more yards and TD almost every year in KC than he did in SF. Why don’t you do some research. http://www.nfl.com/player/alexsmith/2506340/careerstats

          • berttheclock

Did you ever hear of Urban Meyer? He made Smith look very good at the U of U.

          • Chiefly Bacon

Did you ever hear of college ball being different from NFL ball. Johnny Manziel and Aaron Murray looked great in college.

          • berttheclock

Quit making a complete fool of yourself. You can do better.

          • Chiefly Bacon

You’re right I can. I’m gonna stop wasting my time. No point in riling you up when you’ve already made up your mind. Have a good evening Bert.

        • mnelson52

In some ways Reid is a good coach, but he will never admit he is lousy at calling plays and give the duties to someone else. After the 1st 5 games, there was a lot of film on teams. Since then, Reid has been out coached in every game. His game planning has been terrible. He could have done better or just as good with no plan at all. I’m not saying bring in PM II to help the team this year. I think we miss the playoffs because we lack talent in a lot of places including coaches. Therefore if we’re going nowhere, It would seem wise to let PM II get some real game experience instead of starting next season with his 1st game being his 1st game. Actually it might even help if Reid had to cut his playbook in half for him. Getting rid of Smith’s contract next year can help, but I don’t think it’s enough money to get a new O-line, 2 or 3 good CBs, a couple of good ILBs and OLBs, and 2 more good TEs. I wish we could replace Peters also.

  • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

The Chargers have got to be beside themselves with excitement

    • berttheclock

      Better overall team. Better GM.

      • Chiefly Bacon

You make up your mind about something way too early and never consider changing it. Veach hasn’t been GM long enough for you to possibly make that evaluation.

        • Dave

Bert hates everything Chiefs and always has

          • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

Funny….you’re the one that complains about this team with every single post…….I don’t believe I have ever seen you post anything positive

          • Chiefly Bacon

I’ve seen Dave say plenty of positive things about the team when he’s not battling people calling him a homer for just having a little optimism for the QB we drafted.

          • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

Not saying you are wrong, but you will have to show me that, I have seen nothing but negative with every single post

          • berttheclock

You know nothing about me. I have been a diehard Chiefs fan since early November 1963. I even attended the very first Super Bowl and cheered for the Chiefs. But, I had to suffer through the waste years of Steadman/Schaaf. I want nothing but the best for the Chiefs and I fail to see much with Andy Reid and his inept coaches, plus, Veach has done little to have me change my opinion of him. I wear Red and Gold on my sleeve. Again, you really know very little about me.

        • berttheclock

Veach has not demonstrated he can find talent late in the draft. It does not take some sort of great vision to see Veach is never going to be a great GM. He spent far too much time kissing up to Andy Reid.

          • Chiefly Bacon

He hasn’t even done a draft as a GM yet! Just proves your making up reasons to validate your opinion.

          • berttheclock

He was the one who talked Dorsey into drafting Mahomes II. He was responsible for the scouting of McQuay III.

          • Chiefly Bacon

Again you are 100% making that up. You imagined it that way in your head and it is now a fact to you. We know that Veach pointed out Mahomes to Dorsey. That’s all we know. Again, Dorsey made the decisions. Veach could have scouted McQuay, said, nah I don’t like him as a prospect, and Dorsey could have overridden that opinion. But hey, makes a ton of sense to evaluate a GM after what? 3 months? Yeah you definitely know everything you need to know. Did you say Dorsey sucked after one draft?

          • mnelson52

I said earlier that Clark made a mistake hiring a yes man for Reid. He might as well have hired Reid to be the GM. We know how Reid suffered when he was in total control in the past.

  • Chiefly Bacon

Andy Reid with a quick question one-word answer when asked if a quarterback change possible: "No."— Matt Derrick (@mattderrick) November 26, 2017

Now THIS is a poor coaching decision.

  • tm1946

    Just got a quick 9 holes in… who won….??

    • Chiefly Bacon

      Nobody. I mean, the Bills.

    • berttheclock

Have you ever heard the expression repeated often of “Mea Culpa, Mea Culpa, Mea Culpa. We must do better”?

      • tm1946

        Well, well, well

        • berttheclock

Reid has the rights to that comment.

    • Chiefly Bacon

      Patrick Mahomes.

  • Chiefly Bacon

Specifically, send me every argument AGAINST starting Mahomes. I want to take those on specifically. I'm not focused on whether or not Andy will, but whether or not he should. https://t.co/DlUmnqHvKE— Seth Keysor (@RealMNchiefsfan) November 26, 2017

  • Chiefly Bacon

Honestly, this game was a wonderful thing for the Chiefs. If Smith somehow drives down and scores, and you win, Chiefs can put their heads in the sand. As is, they know they have a problem and have to fix it. Better still, if Chiefs suck this bad on offense, they shouldn’t be going to the playoffs, they should be going for draft position. No I don’t care that they don’t have a first round pick next year. I’m thrilled, because it’s clear that this offense needs a new leader and Patrick Mahomes is that guy.

    • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

You want Patrick Mahomes to coach the team????

      • Chiefly Bacon

QB is always talked about as being the leader of the offense. Jokes aside, suppose you believe that Andy Reid’s play-calling is the problem. Mahomes is still your guy. When the play breaks down, he runs outside and chucks it deep. Smith runs outside and throws to the flat or runs for 6 yards.

        • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

I’m open to see MaHomes on the field….. it’s not like we are going anywhere anyway……my problem is, I really watched the preseason game against Tennessee and was horrified at what I saw from Patrick……..I agree though, extended playing time could fix the mistakes.

          • Chiefly Bacon

Yeah, and you’re gonna see mistakes. Peyton Manning thew a ton of picks his first year. I think the mistakes are actually a great reason to start him this year. Why go through the growing pains next year, when this year is already a lost cause? Let him get experience when it doesn’t matter and then he’ll have tape to work on in the offseason.

          • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

If we lose the AFC West lead to the Chargers, then I will side with you on this argument…… especially since Smith is as good as gone anyway……. until then, with the lead, you have to go with continuity while assuming there is still a chance to right the ship.

          • Chiefly Bacon

Fair enough, I’ll see you on my side in two weeks 🙂 If Chiefs couldn’t beat the Giants or Bills, I honestly don’t see how they win another game.

          • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

Well, we agree here, this team is about to have a fork stuck in them.

          • mnelson52

If we can’t make the playoffs (and I don’t think we can) I’m for playing PM II. Not because I think he will make the team better than Smith this year, but because I would like to see him start his 1st game with 5 games of NFL experience instead of his 1st game being his 1st game. It could make a huge difference next year.

    • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

I think you are giving Patrick waaaaaay too much credit, this team is dysfunctional starting from the top down.

      • Chiefly Bacon

We’ll see. I’ve always been of the opinion that a QBs heart is as important as his arm. Mahomes has both. He could have had an easy path to success in MLB. Chose football because he loves the game. Tone setting is very important. Get bad, stay bad. If you get better, it can provide a spark that makes everyone play better.

  • Chiefly Bacon

The future is as bright as the present is dark. Chiefs can now concentrate on developing their young players, fixing their payroll and building a roster that can sustain success. Clark Hunt saw this coming and fired Dorsey. Suspect we see a mini rebuild in 2018 and a pretty good team in 2019.

  • Stan Colbert

I swear! I can’t remember ever, a team going from 5-0 World beaters to this sucks, with basically the same team! Anybody got stats on that?

  • Chiefly Bacon

The pass blocking was fine today -Geoff Schwartz on Chiefs pass protection vs the Bills.

    • freshmeat62

Pass protection sucked! Like it has the past 7 or 8 games. Yes even before the losing started. And the run blocking is non-existent. I’ve been dogging them all year and you usually come to their rescue, but I just don’t see it. I will say that Schwartz is probably the best lineman they have. The rest are a bunch of stumble bums, whiffing on block, turning like a turnstile as the defensive guy goes by, tripping over everything Smith had no protection nor time to find anyone. But this may also have been one of Smith’s worst games as he was off on his accuracy, and missed seeing open guys downfield.

Time for an overhaul! Starting w/ Reid, Sutton, the o-line coach…ah heck start from scratch and fire the whole bunch.

I think it’s funny that Lil Clarky just gave Reid a 5 year extension. Now he’s going to have to pay all of that inherited money to him. He keeps this up, he may have to go get a real job and earn his own keep.

  • freshmeat62

I love the commercials this time of year. Some of them are very entertaining. The girl in the Toyota commercials, Jan, she’s cute. I like her. And the Honda commercials are good, and I really liked the Apple one where the couple was dancing in the snow. And the two Sonic guys are still funny even after you’ve seen them so many times. Then they screw up the timing and the rhythm of everything by putting that stupid Chief’s game in among them. Geeesh, who’s running that network?

  • Chiefly Bacon

Just so we’re clear, I don’t actually like Reid’s play-calling, but I don’t think it’s bad enough to justify Smith’s level of play. An offense doesn’t score 10 points against the Bills by being bad in only one area.

    • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

It is clearly a combination of things, bad playcalling, a terribly offensive Offensive line, bad decisions by the quarterback, bad hands, receivers literally bumping into each other, weak pass rush, weak tackling etc…..
This team is a Fustercluck right now……I have never seen a galactic meltdown of this magnitude after starting 5-0 in my entire life.
If you guys think Mahomes will fix all that, who am I to argue I suppose.

  • tm1946

For those who want to see Mahomes, consider:

    1. Andy Reid still head coach, with bud Nagy – one of them calls the plays and the QB is expected to manage to do it.

    2. Same old OL… Fisher and the boys are highly paid and low preformance is becoming a legend in its own time.

    3. Kelce either gets the ball early or disappears for the rest of the game.

    4. Hunt was in the running for rookie of the year and now cannot get past the LOS… hardly will change with a different QB.

    5. Mahomes has not taken a snap during regular season.

    6. If you go Mahomes, you just said the year is over, done, kaput …. how you going to sell tickets for next year?

    • Chiefly Bacon

The season is over, barring a massive change. The difference between the number of tickets you sell to watch Mahomes vs Smith, would, I bet, surprise you. OL needs to be better. They’ve also been good enough. Kelce is getting open. For whatever reason, Smith has gone back into his shell. Teams are crowding the LOS because they have no fear of getting burned. With Mahomes in, I think that changes. Do I expect Mahomes to turn the season around and lead us to a SB? No. Do I think there’s any point in giving more precious snaps and experience to Smith? Same answer.

    • freshmeat62

I’d keep Smith as starter the rest of the season, regardless of how they do the rest of the season. This season is already kaput. Even if they somehow make it to the playoffs, which at this point looks unlikely, they’re not going to beat anybody. I don’t want to just get in by the skin of their teeth, I want a team that can actually have a chance at a SB. This team isn’t even close!

  • Chiefly Bacon

There are open receivers literally every game. That is evidence of a scheme that works. Insisting otherwise is blatantly ignoring what is actually happening. https://t.co/B9S4WhNu7r— Seth Keysor (@RealMNchiefsfan) November 26, 2017

    • tm1946

Would need to see game tape for myself… he is probably correct but still.

      • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

The game tape is going to show an open receiver after it is too late to plant and throw…… if Smith was awarded the time that our defense gives opposing quarterbacks……. well then yeah

        • Chiefly Bacon

Seth is smart guy. He’s defended Smith and criticized him. I’ve seen people call out Smith for missing an open WR and then Seth will say, no Smith was already under pressure. He’s not some crazy anti-Smith guy. If he sees it, he says it. He’s not the only writer out there saying this stuff.

  • Chiefly Bacon

Defenses are keying on him. Count the number of defenders within 6-7 yards of the LOS on early downs, then watch how quickly they fire off to the run. ZERO fear they'll get burned "cheating" towards Hunt. https://t.co/S5UB6qo83t— Seth Keysor (@RealMNchiefsfan) November 26, 2017

    He’s talking about Hunt here.

    • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

Wake me up when our OL desides to do something about that.

      • Chiefly Bacon

Remember the offense from early in the season? Dominant run game and explosive passing game? Same OL. When Chiefs were running the ball effectively, teams would bring guys down in the box, then Smith would throw deep and connect with Hill or Kelce. Teams are doing the same things to stop the run, but Smith isn’t throwing it deep.

        • Chiefs-Kings-A’s

Those same team that we beat earlier in the season, especially teams like Philly and NE, would kick the living crap out of it now after seeing how easily our OL can be pushed around and abused.

          • mnelson52

We were lucky to play them before there was any film on us. Maybe we should bring in our backup o-line as they helped our 5-0 start.

And lets not forget their choreographer Andy Heck.

Lol the score you chose; I presume you expected Mahomes to be starting because Alex never scores 40 in a game maybe 5-6x in 15 years or whatever it’s been now lol.

  • Derek

Also is Bert finally done with this trade Mahomes to win now and keep Alex crap? Because GTFO lmao

  • Derek

There’s no way in the over a month have you watched Alex and thought we were still a contender. We’re not even worthy of a wikd-card spot at this point in the season.

In the 1st half of the season Smith threw 15 TDs with 0 INTs. In weeks 9-12 he has 3 TDs and 4 INTs and I’m not sure, but I think 2 of his TDs were screens. I know today’s was. On pace for 8 TDs and 10 or 11 INTs in the last 8 games. Yes I know one week was a bye, but most of your good QBs are throwing 3 or more about every game. Games 1, 5, and 7 are his only games with 3 TDs or more and game 7 was a loss to the Raiders. (Andy and Sutton loss)

After Hunts first few games… the last draft is really looking good sitting on the bench.

A number of people have a hand in the offenses poor showing starting with Andy Reid and some of the play calling, Alex Smith who missed several open receivers and the offensive line who forgot how to block after week 5,especially for running plays. I don’t think it is Coach Reid’s method to bench a quarterback, but it is worth a try to see what Mahomes can do. One thing it can do is force the defense to give receivers more room because he is more of threat to throw down the field. I hope that if Alex plays the first half against the Jets the way he has the last several games, he should let Mahomes play the second half. Don’t expect it to happen, but that’s what I would do.

I’ve seen the 3-4, a couple different dime packages, and a nickel. Sutton just sent TK and Dirty Dan on a stunted blitz. It’s officially time to put this hot taek that Sutton doesn’t adjust to bed.

open boos for Smith in KC, it’s getting ugly now folks.

A lot of floated passes in this game from both sides. Surprised no receivers have been maimed yet.
