Will We Tie An NFL Record This Week?

I was watching 4 Down Territory by BJ Kissel and heard 4 Chiefs are on the cusp of tying a record held by only 1 team in the history of the NFL. Hard to believe, but only the 1981 San Diego Chargers have had a 1,000 yard rusher, receiver, and tight end, along with a 4,000 yard passer.

In 1981, QB Dan Fouts (4,802 yards), RB Chuck Muncie (1,14 yards), WR Charlie Joiner (1,188 yards), and TE Kellen Winslow (1,075 yards) set this milestone. Those were the days of Air Coryell, where the Chargers finished 10-6 and first in the AFW West.

As of the start of the game today vs. the Miami Dolphins, the guys in red are just 262 yards from tying this record.  WR Tyreek Hill (1,074 yards) and RB Kareem Hunt (1,201 yards) have already done their part. If QB Alex Smith (3,738 yards) can throw for 262 yards today with at least 9 of them to TE Travis Kelce (991 yards), they can match the record during this game.

Wouldn’t it also be interesting if the Chiefs win the next two games and end the season 10-6 and in first place in the AFC West? Now we just need to start referring to the offense as Air Reid.

Actually, it was also mentioned how balanced our offense is. Obviously spreading the ball around to RB/WR/TE with the 1,000 yards each (almost), but also having a QB with 342 rushing yards, a RB with 440 receiving yards, and 6 other players with over 100 yards receiving on the year.

What do you guys think? Will they reach the record today?
