13 Days Until the Kansas City Chiefs Training Camp – what an offseason! It’s hard ot believe that there’s only 13 days the Kansas City Chiefs Training Camp in St. Joseph, Missouri. Thousands of Chiefs fans and season ticket holders will be making their way north from K.C. to Missouri Western State University practice fields to watch the unfolding of the 2019 season as the squad begins to come together. So, it’s time to get some perspective on the team.

• • Patrick Mahomes begins his third season, and second as a starter, after seemingly winning every award possible for him to win this offseason. Go here –> to watch Mahomes throw a football all the way out of Arrowhead Stadium. 
  • We’re still awaiting the verdict from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on the possibility of a Tyreek Hill suspension but it could come any day now as it is expected prior to the beginning of training camp.   • In 2018, the Chiefs had the 13th youngest team in the league at 25.8 years old on average. With Eric Berry and Justin Houston (both now 30 years old) leaving the team, it looks like the Chiefs will be even younger this year but we’ll have to wait and see who on the 53-man roster come Sept 1.   • Last year’s draft pick Derrick Nnadi played an important role on the DL during the 2018 season and we’ll be keeping a close eye on this year’s DL selection, Khalen Saunders, to see if he can do the same.   • Another draft pick from last year was Safety Armani Watts and although he went down with a core muscle tear which he had operated on last year, we’ll eb wanting to see if he can come back strong enough to make his presence felt this season.   • Many of the stories to follow in training camp will be for the backup roles as Ransom Hawthorne outlined yesterday. One of the most intriguing battles to me will be along the OL to see who not only solidifies the starting Left Guard position but for the backup roles there as well. If you’ve never been to a Chiefs Training Camp, you’ll need to know how to get there. The first time I went… I got lost… so here are the directions with a smart phone Navigation tip for you. If you’re in K.C. head north on I-29 until you get to St. Joe and then (if you’re coming from the north such as Omaha, go south on I-29 until):

Once you get to the campus there are signs and workers everywhere who will help direct you to the parking. There is a fee for parking so be sure to have some cash on hand for that.

Remember to take a hat because it should be hot, water, plenty of water, sunscreen (remember, it will be hot and sunny), a blanket if you intend to sit on the grassy slope, or a folding chair and of course, your favorite Chiefs jersey. Go Chiefs!
