The Dallas Cowboys have long been noticed as “America’s Team” but they haven’t won a Super Bowl since the end of the 1995 season and they did that with the players that Jimmy Johnson had assembled. That’s nearly 30 years ago now and they have 247 and 216 regular season record (which includes this year’s 3-and-6 record). Their current record places them in 13th place in the NFC conference.
The big debate in the Dallas area was whether or not Jimmy Johnson or Jerry Jones had more to do with the sudden success of the Cowboys in the ealry 1990s. I should know, I lived in the area and listened to their local radio talk for years (from 1997 to 2017). Obviously it was Jimmy Johnson who had the most to do with the Cowboys’ success.
In the meantime, the Chiefs were building up to signing Andy Reid and (ironically) he just so happened to lead our Kansas City Chiefs to a 9-and-0 start. Following a 2012 season when K.C. was 2-and-14, the 9-and-0 start was a huge deal.
After the Chiefs drafted Patrick Mahomes with the tenth pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, they have won three Super Bowls over the past 6 seasons. Now, K.C. is on pace to win a third in a row and take hold of the “America’s Team” mantle. For now, the Chiefs are legitimately “The Heart of America’s Team” without a doubt.

A three and three record doesn’t really decide anything. Not really. However, the Chiefs going to the Super Bowl in four of the past 6 years does. Or, it should. The Kansas City Chiefs have been to six Super Bowls in all, and have a 4-and-2 record in those games:

The Cowboys have a 5-and-3 record in the Super Bowls they’ve been to. However, all of those have been from 1971 to 1996. So, it’s a justifiable moniker to call them America’s Team… during that period of time. From 2001 to 2019, it would have also been justifiable to call the New England Patriots America’s Team, although no one did. The Patriots have won six Super Bowl titles following these seasons: 2002, 2004, 2005, 2015, 2017, and 2019. The combination of HC Bill Belichick and QB Tom Brady was the most likely reason.
Now, the Chiefs have the combination of HC Andy Reid, QB Patrick Mahomes, TE Travis Kelce and DT Chris Jones. There’s no reason why they shouldn’t win a few more than the recent three that they already have. Mahomes turned 29 years old in September and here’s a collection of 29 highlight of his in his honor:

There’s also no reason why these Kansas City Chiefs shouldn’t be called, America’s Team.
