AO NEWS BREAK: CHIEFS SIGN SAFETY, STERUP ON SUSPENSION
The Kansas City Chiefs have signed a Safety in an odd order of events. At the age of 24, Safety Brock Vereen retired from the NFL. That’s not all that surprising considering many young players are deciding they want to step away from what has become a sport with consequences to the bodies of the players who play it which may last a lifetime. However, the story didn’t stop there with Vereen. He then turned around and UN-retired from the New England Patriots who then cut him. And then… the Kansas City Chiefs claimed him off waivers.

Brock Vereen was the 131st pick of the 2014 NFL draft by the Chicago Bears out of Minnesota. Vereen has also spent time with the Vikings. He’s 6-foot-0 and weighs 200 pounds. The question is… is this a significant move? I say it very likely is more significant than many are claiming it to be. We all know that John Dorsey likes to bring players in even if he thinks they can jump a long way (see U.S. Olympic Gold Medalist). However, at this time of year our Mr. Dorsey is known for swooping in and picking up player who can help and stick (see Howard, Cooper, Ron Parker).
In other more disturbing news the NFL has placed Zach Sterup on a 4 game suspension from breaking the PED league policy. That’s likely his ticket out of St. Joe permanently. Otherwise, he’s able to return in October.
Sterup is eligible to return to the active roster on Monday, October 3, but can participate in all preseason practices & games.

What do you say Chiefs fans? Will the addition of Brock Vereen mean anything down the line?
