ArrowheadOne Bloggers: Come on, Man!

This morning’s piece is a simple request that we’ve posted in the forums over the past few months and even mentioned in an article or two. It’s directed at no one in particular, but is a plea to all ArrowheadOne bloggers, with apologies to our readers who are readers only.

Please… please… do not discuss politics in our ArrowheadOne Disqus forum.

Your political views are important. They are. They just aren’t relevant, here. ArrowheadOne intends to provide a respite from the deluge of political posts interspersed throughout the Interweb. This is where we, as Chiefs fans, come to discuss all things Chiefs. We celebrate victories together. We commiserate defeats together. We call out bad players (talking to you, Mr. Hitchens) and we celebrate great and good players (every Chief not named Hitchens).

This is the reason we have provided a forum for political conversations called: “Vacuum Off.” If you want to publish a political opinion, you can always send a write-up to Laddie Morse at laddiemorse@gmail.com and he can work with you to make sure your piece is published under the Vacuum Off heading. Then, others can decide if they want to read and respond, or not.

ArrowheadOne strives to be a safe space free from the machinations of a world seemingly gone adversarial. AO is a place where we get to badmouth: Raiders, Broncos, Patriots, and Ravens, alike, with impunity. I dig that.

The best political statement that we can make is four weeks from tomorrow in the most effective and appropriate of all places: the voting booth. Please do your loudest talking there.

Political posts serve only to further divide us and create internal conflicts on an otherwise positive, thriving, Chiefs related, website.

Besides, said no one ever: “Your political post earlier today has really changed my mind. Thank you.”

So, please see this post for what it is: a friendly and gentle, yet firm, reminder that political posts are not welcome at ArrowheadOne. Please have enough respect for your fellow ArrowheadOne readers, writers, bloggers, and editor-in-chief, to resist the urge to post anything which one might construe as political.

Thank you… and please be sure to check back later today at 12:00 CST for David Bell’s article, “Chiefs Host Patriots, Game Preview: OPEN THREAD.” I was privy to preview a draft, and it’s good — very insightful. Comments will be turned back on then.

There will be no comments section this morning but, we’ll chat with you on the forum this afternoon. I appreciate your attention and adherence.

Editor’s Note – I apologize for being part of the problem when it comes to posting political comments, or in neglecting to delete such comments fairly or in a timely way. Travis has said it best: “This is where we, as Chiefs fans, come to discuss all things Chiefs. We celebrate victories together.” No matter what our political affiliations are, we are all Chiefs fans… so let’s focus on this great positive in our lives. See you at the OPEN THREAD. Go Chiefs! -Laddie Morse
