If it’s Friday it’s time for anticipating dessert on Sunday but the Sunday with that special treat is eons away and a real football game with meaning won’t be played until Fall. I suspect that this means that we are sorta preparing a sweet treat for a sweet tooth that cannot be satisfied until that distant Sunday.
Imagine: In the interim, we are preparing something sort of satisfying but it’s just to get by til Sunday. I thought this is akin to the depression era and finding a way to satisfy the craving for a sweet dessert or candy but not being able to afford to go to make a candy bar purchase so you crackled up saltines in a glass and poured milk over it and sprinkled it with sugar to satisfy that craving.
Akeem Hunt released: The Chiefs reached an injury settlement agreement with Hunt who will be released to Free Agency if he clears waivers.
The #Chiefs reached an injury settlement with Akeem Hunt and he's been waived from the team's PUP list.

Nnadi Signs his rookie Deal: This week, Derrick Nnadi signed his rookie contract. He was the last among the Veach picks of 2018 to be brought under contract. That’s a good sign and when we get to camp we won’t see any signing as an impediment to the team persona.
Imagine these things: Derrick Nnadi and Xavier Williams fulfill the deal in providing solid Nose Tackle play in 2018. This would be something that the Chiefs lacked, having two men to take on the task. Recall the overload that Dontari Poe carried when with the Chiefs. Imagine further that Armani Watts wins outright the safety role opposite Eric Berry and imagine further that any panic about Berry is false and Berry returns to form and re-assumes his leadership role in 2018. I do have a good imagination but I don’t think this is “far out” or “far off.”
Imagine a bit more deeply: So then we can get down to two cases on the defensive side of th ball. First? Who fills out the corner back roles besides Fuller, Nelson and Amerson(that’s a future topic). The second case is that the OLB position opposite Justin Houston works itself out with intriguing options employed by Defensive Coordinator, Bob Sutton. By game 4, Sutton begins employing more and more hybrid looks that exploit Ford’s speed, Speaks toughness and finds a way to use the long and lean Kpassagnon. Am I alluding to a “perfect roster”? Nope. What I am saying is that the players in house get the basic job done and Veach can go from there. We will know a lot more when they put the pads on in camp.
A Top Receiver Team? Bucky Brooks, NFL.com, rates the Chiefs as one of the top five wide receiving teams in the NFL. I believe he is correct about this but I am including a quote from his article 3 or 4 days ago at NFL.com. He wrote:
“…Before you @ me about the Chiefs spot on this list, you should check out the ridiculous big-play production their “Big Three” has amassed over the past two years: Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce and Sammy Watkins have combined for 69 receptions of 20-plus yards and 35 touchdown catches. While those numbers are somewhat stymied by Watkins’ scattershot output over the past two seasons (13 – 20-plus yards catches and 10 touchdowns in 23 games), it is important to note that he tallied 32 receptions of 20-plus yards and 15 touchdowns during his first two NFL campaigns. Thus, it is quite possible that he re-emerges as a big-play threat in an Andy Reid system that showcases explosive receivers, particularly those playmakers with speed and RAC (run after catch) ability. With three potent playmakers on the field at all times, the Chiefs’ receiving corps could become the next unit to boast a trio of 1,000-yard pass catchers in a single season.”
I pay a lot of attentions to Brooks so you may want to take a peek at the complete topic –> here.
To Brooks observations I would add Kareem Hunt as a mean threat along with the other RBs who fall behind him, especially Ware and the two Williams.
Imagine even more with Demetrius Harris: imagine, if you will, Demetrius Harris losing his stone hands and adding himself to the list behind Kelce’s ability. — Yah, I know. I have such a penetrating imagination. Don’t believe me? Go fish!
