Breakdancing All Over the Chiefs 2020 Opponents – It’s time to go old school – a little bit – on the Kansas City Chiefs 2020 Schedule, and Opponents. We’ll take them one week at a time and I’ll stomp all over your dream team, as long as they’re not the Kansas City Chiefs. I have few doubts now, about the Chiefs ability to win every game, so let’s break down each game… and enjoy some dancing in the meantime.
With a few extra weeks to prepare, Andy Reid should have his team ready to rock-n-roll all over the hapless Texans (and by hapless, I mean DeAndre Hopkins-less). The Texans run game may be bolstered by the addition of the Cardinals ex-RB, David Johnson, but a good running game has already proven worthless against the new Spags D.
So, the Chiefs got CEH and will win more on 1st and 2nd downs more.
If you think the Chiefs are going to lose to the team they scored 7 straight TDs against in January of this year, the same year that K.C. won a Super Bowl and then got better in the offseason, you may need to check your blood sugar levels. The best the Texans can do in this game is to try and target some of the Chiefs young corners. However, even if that works a little bit, it’s just won;t be enough. Chiefs 38 – Texans 17.
I don’t know if you’ve noticed an AFC West advantage the Chiefs have in all their games against their division foes but, every Home game comes off of 7 days of rest while every AFC West ROAD game comes off of either 10 days rest or the Bye Week. It’s like the NFL Scheduling Committee is begging the Chief to win the West so they can return to the playoffs.
In this game, the Chargers are coming off of a Road game in Cincinnati and will be either: a) reeling because Joe Burrow ate their lunch or, b) singing their annual tune, “we’re Winning the AFC West”, which of course, they haven’t done since 2009 when they abruptly exited the playoffs by losing to the Jets.
The Chargers defense is loaded but their offense now has Tyrod Taylor at the helm and Melvin Gordon is in Denver. It may be their home opener but the Chiefs should win going away: Chiefs 31 – Chargers 10.
The Baltimore Ravens will be the Chiefs primary challenger for the Lamar Hunt Trophy. They could also stand in the way of them securing the first round bye, which will make the road to the Super Bowl a lot tougher… if the Chiefs have to play one more game to get there. HC Andy Reid will have all offseason to prepare for the Texans and 10 days to prepare for the Chargers but just one week to get ready for the Ravens and the team will have to play on two different coasts in the span of one week adding more pressure to the result of this contest.
If LB Willie Gay is ready for more snaps by this game he will likely be used to shadow QB Lamar Jackson. The Chiefs beat the Ravens last year in a week 3 contest, 33-to-28, but that was in Arrowhead Stadium. Although this will be a hard fought contest, the Chiefs will prevail: Chiefs 38 – Ravens 24.
The Tom-less Pats will be a lot easier to whip. While Billy B may have a few tricks up his sleeve and his defense may hold Patrick Mahomes to just 7 points in the first quarter… the rest of the game will be a blowout. This becomes a statement game: WE ARE THE NEW DYNASTY IN TOWN! Spags defense begins to really flex their muscles and the good guys win going away: Chiefs 42 – Patriots 10.
Raiders Week will be awesome this year. With Jon Gruden thinking he has a chance against the Mahomes led Chiefs, especially if he’s 3-and-1 at that point. However, the Raiders will have faced: the Panthers, the Saints, the Patriots and the Bills so if they can manage to beat the Panthers and the Pats, which may not be that tough… then somehow pull out a game against the Saints in New Orleans or the Bills at home, they could be riding high. Then again, they may be 1-and-3 (or worse) and be looking to change QBs by their 5th game. Either way, the Chiefs show them how it’s done and kill them in Arrowhead: Chiefs 48 – Raiders 17.
The Bills will be meeting the Chiefs in Buffalo after two road games, @ the Raiders and @ the Titans, so if they arrive with a perfect 5-and-0 record, this could prove to be a very tough game for K.C.. With expectations to win the AFC East for the first time since 1995, their young QB, Josh Allen, will be put to the test. Still, K.C. holds out on the road: Chiefs 31 – Bills 24
The Broncos will be itching to beat their chief rival Chiefs but it’s not going to be easy. Their defense is still very good and with Von Miller and Bradley Chubb coming off the edges while DT Jurrell Casey is now busting up the gut, the Chiefs O-Line will be stretched to the limit. It’s too little to late and the Chiefs defense makes Denver QB, and Lee’s Summit native Drew Lock, pay for it by suffering 7 sacks and two INTs. Chiefs 34 – Broncos 21.
The Jets are not going to put up much of a fight. QB Sam Darnold hasn’t had enough time to consistently gel with new WR Denzel Mims, but they do have one highlight reel play. The first quarter will be close and then… to much Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, Sammy Watkins and Mecole Hardman. Chiefs 45 – Jets 14
The Panthers will always have a chance because of Christian McCaffrey but with Cam Newton leaving and more importantly, Ron Rivera being fired, it’s hard to see how… in a year with a truncated offseason… how the Panthers new HC, Matt Rhule, can put up much of a fight against Andy Reid’s well established, well trained and deep roster. Chiefs 51 – Panthers 21
The Chiefs used to know how to lose… even on a Bye week. Not anymore.
Jon Gruden has some Vegas card tricks planned for Andy and the Gang… but they all fail. Gruden makes another memorable post-game comment about Patrick Mahomes, like, “Yeah, he really pissed me off today.” Chiefs 35 – Raiders 19
The Chiefs encounter a steady stream of Brady in the air, and the boys from Tompa Bay take an early lead. In the end, the Bucs can’t keep up with the Reid-em-n-weep Chiefs juggernaut of an offense which includes more Mahomes Magic. Also, Spags D-Line coach, Brendan Daly, teaches Tom Baby who’s the boss. Chiefs 38 – Bucs 24.
Broncos QB, Drew Lock, is happy to be back in his hometown digs, but he doesn’t dig it for long. Steve Spagnuolo’s defense is in high gear and doesn’t give Lock a lick of space to set up and throw the ball. Lock completes a few well timed tosses to rookie WR Jerry Jeudy and also hits their other rookie WR KJ Hamler for one long bomb… but it’s too little too late. Chiefs 44 – Broncos 17
Tua Tagovailoa is taking charge of the offense now but he has a long way to go. The Chiefs are happy to be visiting Miami in a less humid time of year but struggle for some reason. With a new QB, a new coach, and half a new team, the piece begin to come together but it’s still not enough. Chiefs 28 – Dolphins 20.
After facing their third opponent on the road in four weeks, the Chiefs hit a brick wall in New Orleans. Many think this is a Super Bowl matchup in the making. The Saints D does a good job of attacking Patrick Mahomes and limit him to 220 passing yards while Drew Brees goes off for 350 and 3 TDs in the air. Still, it’s a close one to the end but the Saint prevail handing K.C. their first loss: Saints 35 – Chiefs 31
The Falcons are the first of a two-game HOME stand and with the conference lead on the line, and coming off of their first defeat of the season in New Orleans, the Chiefs are workman like and take care of business. Chiefs 38 – Falcons 20
With a two-game lead in the conference the Chiefs rest their starters for the most part but the Chargers don’t have much to offer, or to play for, other than pride. Their pride isn’t enough and Chad Henne leads the second best team in the NFL to a victory: Chiefs 31 – Chargers 21
The Chiefs go 15-and-1 for the first time in franchise history on their way to a second straight Super Bowl win. #Runitback
