Chiefs 2023 Schedule Takes

With the release of the Kansas City Chiefs 2023 schedule on Thursday evening, we can now see what the future looks like – this coming Fall — for our favorite team. Consider that the first Thursday Night Football game whose coverage is provided by “NBC” so the Chiefs first game of the year — a Thursday evening game vs the Detroit Lions – will not count against the seven possible games to be flexed to primetime:

.

“… the maximum number of prime-time appearance[s]

has been increased to seven per team.”

.

Lions at Chiefs – here’s what the Detroit Lions draft picks look like, since they are the first team K.C. will face this year on the evening of September 7, 2023.

I’m fond of several of the players the Lions drafted like: RB Jahmyr Gibbs and TE Sam LaPorta. I thought both of those players could have helped the Chiefs.

While we can project a win for the Chiefs, even though the Lions are an improved franchise, no one wants to bet against Andy Reid when he has more time to prepare. This is from ChiefsWire back in January, before the Super Bowl victory:

.

“In games following over 30 combined regular-season and postseason bye weeks, Reid has amassed an 87.1% winning percentage. Extra time to prepare has been more of a boon for his teams than any other teams in the league.”

Here are the first and then second half schedules for the Chiefs 2023 season:

I attempted to make these so that they could be downloaded and you could use them to put on your refrigerator or where ever you hang up your schedules (if you do that type of thing).

The Chiefs have a BYE Week in week ten of the season. That’s not only a good thing for rest and recuperation, but it also provides a good time for HC Andy Reid to make any changes he feels need to be made… like to the offensive line. With seven games left to play in the season after the BYE week, that week will be important for the Chiefs to make any scheme adjustments as well, right before their stretch run to the playoffs.

The BYE Week also comes at a good time because the Chiefs will play the Philadelphia Eagles after taking a week off. We all know Andy Reid is excellent in the week following a BYE, so the timing couldn’t be better. What do you think of the Chiefs schedule? Any thoughts?
