Chiefs 23, Jets 20: An Embarrassing Win

Laddie Morse

Now that was an embarrassing victory. Embarrassing… why? Because the Kansas City Chiefs went up by a score of 17-to-0 in the first quarter but after that, the New York Jets looks like world beaters, and nearly did beat the Chiefs. David Bell, who often writes for ArrowheadOne had this to say after the game:

.

“We win, but (i’m) still unhappy.”

.

I couldn’t agree more. The Kansas City Chiefs are ultimately entertainment, and this game was entertaining for the first quarter only. This game was won and the Chiefs not only beat the Jets but had to beat the referees as well… and in the end, they did. There’s right tackle, Jawaan Taylor (no relation to Taylor Swift)… and when the refs called him for a face-mask penalty at the goal line. The replay clearly showed that Taylor had grabbed the face-mask of the Jets pass rusher before he entered the end zone and if that was the case. The Penalty would have been rejected by the Jets because it was a 3rd down and would have only moved the ball back half the distance to the goal line, but it also would have given the Chiefs another chance to make a first down, or they would have simply Punted.

Instead, the Jets came away with a two-point Safety and the Chiefs down hill slide had begun. What followed was three quarters of terrible, horrible no-good very bad football by the World Champs and it was so hard to watch.

It’s these kinds of games that make you want to consider the possibility of stopping the watching of any K.C. CHiefs games. Nah! Never mind.

Hayley Lewis, who used to be a Sports reporter for KSHB Channel 41, said after the game:

.

“I hope my friends and family better

understand why I have anxiety.”

.

One positive from the game was the play of RB Isiah Pacheco (aka: Pop) who had 115 yards rushing for a 5.8 YPC average on 20 carries and a Long run of 48 yards plus a TD (0:15).

.

.

Travis Kelce, had 60 yards receiving on 6 receptions, but most of those came in the 1st quarter. Other than that, the game was a wash.

Defense: 20 points Allowed

The Kansas City Chiefs Defense came into the game being called the best in the NFL (by some pundits like Rich Baldinger)… and having given up only 33 points in the first 3 games of the season it’s easy to understand why he say that. HOwever, on Sunday evening, the Chiefs Defense looked liek they needed defending. However, you won’t find that kind of immunity being offered here.

.

Player of the Game

Isiah Pacheco – Pop had his best game as a K.C. Chiefs Running back. He now has 55 total carries thi year for 270 yards and a 4.9 average.

.

.

The average is important because, as you may know, Chiefs great RB, Jamaal Charles, had a 5.4 YPC and he belongs in the Hall of Fame.

.

.

BTW, Pop averaged 5.8 YPC in the game vs the Jets.
