Chiefs: 5 Things We Want To See This Decade – I know that the next decade does not start officially until 01, January 2021, but humor me please. I’m sharing with you my five wishes for our Kansas City Chiefs this next ten years during the 2020s. I hope you enjoy. Also, please feel free to share your own wishes for our beloved Chiefs over the next ten years.
5. Britt-Pat
Look here Mr. Mahomes, this lady, Brittney Matthews, has been with you for quite some time now (including a few rough years). You already have a ring that you’ve earned… so, I’d say make her an honest women, but the truth is, let her make you an honest man! A 13-16 record in three seasons at Texas Tech and she stayed with you?!? C’mon Man… you owe that Princess!
It should be noted that Miss Brittney Matthews is somebody without her famous fella. She’s a businesswoman who’s created her own fitness company. While Mahomes certainly helps her celebrity, she would be successful regardless.
4. Viral Video: A Thrill from Hill
Many won’t remember, with all that’s going on, that this time last year, we were in a tizzy about Kansas City Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill and allegations of domestic abuse concerning his son. Turns out, they were all BS.
One year later, Cheetah has custody of his son, and, turns out, he is the most loving, diligent, and attentive of fathers. As a young man in Missouri back in the early 1990’s who had to wrangle the legal system back then to gain custody of his children (which I did), I can’t convey how difficult that is. Hill’s boy is with him because that’s the best place for him.
Tyreek Hill is a good person. He is a good man. Although he’s a great football player he’s an even better Dad. So, the viral video I wish for in the next 10 years is of the younger Hill: playing soccer, baseball, football, soccer, or even just playing with his dog. I just want the world to see that good exists in all flavors and colors, and that eventually the truth comes to light.
#10 and his son prove that!
3. A Super Bowl at Arrowhead
Come on, NFL we’ve earned it. Arrowhead holds the record for the loudest stadium in the world.
Holding the venue in our coveted little peace of paradise would be a thing of beauty. Think of adding even more visitors to next door Kauffman Stadium to watch the game on the Jumbotron. Not just the revenue that the NFL would reap, mind you. The public relations value added there would be immense! Your fan base is in the heartland of our country, NFL. Act like you know it! If you can have a Super Bowl in MetLife Stadium, a New Jersey venue, in February, which was the site of SB XLVIII, then you can make K.C. proud by selecting this wonderful city as the host community.
Kansas City is an enviable venue for the Super Bowl. You have a vibrant downtown. A thriving WestPort! The surrounding communities, such as Mission Woods, St. Joseph, and many others can more than accommodate anyone else. Besides, it will cut down on plane fare for the Chiefs organization, too. Read, on!
2. Five More Super Bowls!
If only to shut Patriots fans up!
We need five more to prove to the world and the NFL community that football does not revolve around Bill and Tom. We, Chiefs Kingdom, are bigger and better than the Patriots! While Tom Brady is a decent QB, he’s not the G.O.A.T. That honor, until Mahomes pulls in his (at least) five in this next decade, still resides with Joe Montana.
We need five more Chiefs Kingdom to show the world that we are for real. We are. The Kansas City Chiefs are the best team in the NFL and will be for the next decade! There is no QB better than Patrick Mahomes. There is no receiver faster than Tyreek Hill. There is not tight end better at his job than Travis Kelce. But, wait, there’s more!
We’ve got a new running back in Clyde Edwards-Helaire (CEH), or Glide, or Air Helaire. Really, guys?!? Also, we also have a defense now! Led by none other than Tyrann Mathieu . We have guys like Frank Clark, Chris Jones, “Dirty Dan” Sorenson, and Juan Thornhill.
1. Stay True!
I joined the Chiefs back in 1993 because you all stole my QB, Joe Montana. I stayed because you guys stole my heart.
In that time, I learned Chiefs lore and I lived Chiefs hardships. 2-14? Twice (2008, 2012). Come on, man!
I chose “Stay True” as #1 because it’s most important. I’d rather be a fan of a 2-14 team filled with individuals of integrity and character, ran by the same, too, than be, say a New England Patriots fan, or a Las Vegas (is that still your city now) Raiders fan. I’m a Chiefs fan through and through because of Chiefs Kingdom.
In the midst of success that we’ve not known in over 50 years, we must stay humble. True to our values.
# 1 should hit true to all. We are in the midst of something none of us, nor or parents, nor their parents, have ever known.
This is real.
We’ll get through it. We always do, but what leads us through this is the heartland. You can’t get more heartland than K.C., MO!
