Chiefs Are in Recoup, Recover and Rehab Mode – the injury outlook for the upcoming games with the Raiders on Dec. 1 and the December 8th contest with the Patriots, is looking very good. After a tough game in Mexico where the Chiefs defense stepped up their play and won the game for the fans with a last moment interception of “Cry me a River” Phil, the team traveled to home environs for their Bye Week.
Not only the Bye Week, it’s another week if it’s necessary for a player to recover from injuries sustained in the game. Most notable among such players is Tyreek Hill who suffered from a hamstring injury. It did not appear to be severe and occurred early in the game. It is my guess that the turf condition may have contributed. The reply showed little except the turf slip. Doc?
Offensive Center Austin Reiter suffered an injury during the game. Stefan Wisniewski was called to duty until Reiter could return, which he did. During the game, two men of the secondary suffered hard hits or stingers but both returned.
RB Damien Williams suffered a hit to the chest, apparently ribs. Status Unknown. Andy’s comments in the presser on Wed. morning indicated the following:
“As far as the injuries go, just real quick, Tyreek Hill strained his hamstring early in the game. Damien Williams hurt his ribs, they’re looking at those as we go here. Jordan Lucas hurt his shoulder. Reiter came out but went back in, and then LeSean, I’m not sure exactly all what happened there but something with his head. So I’m not sure exactly what the final decision was there.”
Reid mentioned Jordan Lucas who apparently is one of the Chiefs secondary that I saw leave the field looking injured during the game. I cannot recall who the other player was but Reid did not address that player by name.

Later in the morning a Report came in from Yahoo Sports that stated Tyreek Hill’s injury was minor (apparently the MRI was negative). Hill shouldn’t be a miss for the next game..

This is a great time for the Bye. I am sure that Reiter is okay for that game. Our starting group of Offensive Linemen (OL) will be intact. Two of the men returned from injury for the Chargers game, Eric Fisher and Laurent Duvernay-Tardif (LDT), knocked the rust off in a hard fought game against a very good defensive front for the Chargers with Ingram and Bosa leading the pass rush. That’s good news. I am pretty sure Damien Williams will be on the field and will get full practices in before the contest.
Alex Okafor has now missed sequential games games. He will have had at least 4 weeks recovery from a high ankle sprain and he is very likely to be ready to go versus the Raiders and Patriots.
Kendall Fuller, CB, is another question. He also has missed two weeks and now will have 2 more to recover from his surgery and should be ready to go.
Emmanuel Ogbah has moved to the IR so the Chiefs roster is going to be a complete roster aside from Tim Ward (DE) and Darius Harris (LB) who won’t be recalled from that list.
The Bye Week comes at a good time for Patrick Mahomes as well. He’s been back for two games now after suffering a dislocated kneecap and a couple of ankle injuries so a bit of rest and rehab can only help his body recover more.
Besides the players lost to the season completely, the entire Chiefs Roster should be healed up and ready to go, first for the Raiders at Arrowhead on December 1st then in New England seven days later. It is a convenient time for a prayer if you are willing.
