Chiefs at Falcons: OPEN THREAD

Laddie Morse

It’s been four seasons since the Kansas City Chiefs have played the Atlanta Falcons and they won that game, in Arrowhead, 17-to-14. However, it’s been all of eight seasons (2016) since the Chiefs have visited the Falcons and that game was played in the Georgia Dome (Mercedes-Benz Stadium’s first game wasn’t until 2017) in which the Chiefs won 29-to-28 on an INT made by none other than Safety Eric Berry for two-points. Berry, who is from Atlanta had a pick-6 INT earlier in that game.

Eric Berry was coming off of a bout with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a type of Cancer, to return to action in the NFL and he also had friends and family in the stands. Below is a post-game interview — and review of those plays — with the voice of the Chiefs, Mitch Holthus, and Chiefs Senior Team Reporter, at that time, B.J. Kissel (2:39):

The Weather should not be an issue since Mercedes-Benz Stadium is indoors. That’s good news for the Chiefs because Patrick Mahomes record indoors is excellent.

Although the weather should be idyllic in Atlanta that should not matter at all since the game is indoors.

Chris Clark at RGR Football thinks the final out will be: 28-to-17, Chiefs.

Ryan Tracy at RGR Football thinks the final score will be: 28-to-21, Chiefs.

Mike Florio at NFLRumors.com thinks the final score will be: 28-to24 Chiefs.

Chris Simms at NFLRumors.com thinks the final will be 24-to-17, Chiefs.

Here’s what the writers at ArrowheadPride predict:

Nate Christensen Chiefs 31, Falcons 20

John Dixon Chiefs 27, Falcons 24

Ron Kopp Jr. Chiefs 23, Falcons 20

Rocky Magaña Chiefs 27, Falcons 13

Jared Sapp Chiefs 23, Falcons 17

Matt Stagner Chiefs 24, Falcons 17

Pete Sweeney Chiefs 31, Falcons 13

Lawrence Prezman thinks the Chiefs will win by 3.5 points (he runs a gambling site).

Another gambling site: sportsgrid.com sees things this way:

Although sportsgrid.com has the Chiefs as a 3.0 point favorite in this game (as of Saturday afternoon), they started out a 4.5 point favorites and are now down to 3.0 favs. Here are NFL SundayTicket predictions:

Here’s Jon Gruden breaking this game down and making his prediction. If you stick around for the end of his youtube vid, Gruden predicts the Falcons will win this one.

My Prediction is… if the Chiefs show up with intensity they should win this game going away. Then, the final score could be Chiefs 38, Falcons 13. However, there is a possibility of keeping this game close and that could come by a late score by the Falcons and Andy Reid taking his foot off the gas pedal. Meaning… he let’s up. In that case, the Falcons could score late and get up to 28 points, making it much cloder than it needs to be. Here are Mitch Holthus and Matt McMullen in their Week 3 Kingdom Conversation (3:42):

BTW, the Chiefs have 5 crossover games vs the NFC in the 2024 season (Falcons, Saints, 49ers, Bucs, and Panthers). If Kansas City players show up and take the Falcons lightly, they could end up losing this one by a close score. In that case, the final could be Chiefs 20, Falcons 21. Either way, I see the Chiefs being in this game all the way until the end.

What do you think?
