Chiefs at Jags, OPEN THREAD

Laddie Morse

After a game the Kansas City Chiefs “should have” won against the Detroit Lions at Home, they now are looking down the barrel of an 0-and-2 start if they don’t right-the-ship immediately. The Jacksonville Jaguars are a playoff team from a year ago and have gotten better this offseason so the task facing the Chiefs is formidable. These Jags are perhaps even better than the Lions team that beat the Chiefs by one point ten days ago.

I would remind Chiefs fans that the 2014 team started out their season with two consecutive losses but ended up with a winning record… but did not make the playoffs. Also, the 2015 team started out with a 1-and-5 record but not only finished 11-and-6 but beat the Texans in Houston on an opening TD by Knile Davis. In 2016, K.C. started out with a 2-and-2 record but ended the year with a 12-and-4 record but lost their Divisional Playoff game to the Steelers 16-to-18. In 2017, K.C. started out 6-and-6 but ended up with a 10-and-6 record but lost their Wild Card game to the Titans 21-to-22.

So, while I am concerned about the outcome of today’s game, if they lose I don’t think it means the team will finish out of the playoffs… at all.

Here’s what some of the NFL.com writers think will happen in today’s game:

.

.

My biggest concern here is what Daniel Jeremiah thinks. He’s picking the Jags even though 8 (eight) out of 10 (ten) analysts are going with K.C..

.

.

Like many of the writers at the Kansas City Chiefs, I think the Chiefs wil bounce back this week:

Game Time Weather in Jacksonville

.

.

.

It will be hot and rainy by game time in Jacksonville. Sportskeeda.com says this about the weather for todays game:

.

“The weather forecast for Sunday, September 17, doesn’t look great at EverBank Stadium. It’s going to be very hot, around 90 degrees, and there’s a high chance of rain during the game, about 80%. There will also be some wind, around 5 to 10 mph, which could affect how the teams kick the ball.”

.

ky3.com quotes Travis Kelce about how Mahomes does in weather related games:

.

“It’s pretty unbelievable, man. He was winging it. Those weren’t just balls like shotputs that you normally see in the snow or a really bad rain game. He was out there letting it fly, and he’s a special guy. I’ve never seen anyone throw it like that in the snow, that’s for sure.”

Injury Reports

.

To Chris Jones or Not to Chris Jones

.

.

DT Chris Jones HAS BEEN activated and CB Darius Rush has been waived to make room for him.

.

.

If Chris Jones and Travis Kelce do start for the Chiefs today, I think K.C. will win going away…

.

.

Maybe not by a Billion, but by a lot of points.

.

I’m taking the Chiefs in this game.
