Chiefs: Beyond the Red Helmet Heads

The Kansas City Chiefs have not only become the best team in the NFL, the organization is tops as well. There are so many stories off of the football field that it’s impossible to not be able to address them. That’s our purpose here, to throw some light on the myriad of ways the Chiefs have impacted the local community as well as all the other ripple effects the team has had around the world. Consequently, we’ll be looking, “Beyond the Red Helmet Heads” here at ArrowheadOne on a regular basis.

I worked 39 years in education so I have a special appreciation for the goals Kelce’s organization has set forth. I also served for years as a STEM teacher which stands for: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. The STEM field gives all kids opportunities, but especially for girls. For several reasons, females have not been getting the same opportunities that men have had in these fields. By the time they go to college, only 4% (four percent) of women express an interest in computer science and/or engineering, compared to nearly 20% men entering college. Hats off to Travis Kelce, he’s scored the biggest touchdown of your life.

Four years back, I bought the house I live in now and one of the reasons I decided this was the place for me was that it has a great room in the basement which serves as my very own Chiefs Man Cave. Now, while I have watched game there, it is no where near as wonderful as some of the places I’ve seen including:

Chiefs Single-Game Tickets

FYI, the Chiefs single-game tickets for the 2021 season went on sale yesterday.

I can tell that Patrick Mahomes’ foundation is at least partially influenced by his wife, Brittany. She works in the field of athletic training so, it makes sense that their goals are related to those ideals.

How many members of the Chiefs winning Super Bowl IV team have been inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame?

I sure do wish we still had Mitchell Schwartz at RT, but I’ll have to settle for “Mitch in the Kitch.” Catchy title, don’t ya think? Here’s his recipe for chili.

Running back Priest Holmes was one of the best to ever pull on a Chiefs jersey. Of course, it didn’t hurt at all that he played behind possibly the best offensive line ever assembled. With the Chiefs 2021 OL lineup vastly improved this year, I’m hoping for some similar results from Clyde Edwards-Helaire. To much to ask for? I think not. The following clip is from March of 2019.

The contributions of Lamar Hunt’s wife, Norma Hunt, have been incredible. You have to wonder how much her influence has helped to shape the franchise in positive ways in recent years.
