Laddie Morse
I could have called this piece: “June is Bustin’ Out All Over”… but much of our AO audience would probably have that reference go right over their heads. So, for the sake of education, here it is anyway (6:46):
.
.
Many different Chiefs/NFL online services are predicting many Kansas City Chiefs players will breakout. Let’s take a look at a few of those.
Kadarius Toney
Perhaps at the top of the list is WR Kadarius Toney. @FootballFilmsYT has predicted that Kadarius Toney “may” have a breakout season:
.
.
Skyy Moore
Next in line for perhaps the most breakout articles is WR Skyy Moore. @ChiefsConnect shares this on Moore:
.
.
@PJGreenTV gives us a reason why Skyy Moore might be the Breakout Player of the year:
.
.
Isiah Pacheco, George Karlaftis & Kadarius Toney
Isiah Pacheco, George Karlaftis (and Kadarius Toney) are featured Breakout players in this video by Chiefs Report by Chat Sports (8:25):

George Karlaftis
George Karlaftis is the first defensive player that appears on this list. Kansas City Sports Network (KCSN) has him as their first defensive player as well:
.
Then, RGR Football also says George Karlaftis will have a breakout year in year two:
.
.
.
Justyn Ross
Peter Schrager at GMFB has given his list of five breakout player in the NFL this year, and on that list is Justyn Ross:
.
.
Leo Chenal
AtoZSports.com has an article called: “Chiefs LB Leo Chenal is WAY TOO GOOD for a rookie” in which they reveal the play of Chenal in 2022 and predict he will breakout even more in 2023:
.
.
AtoZSports.com goes on to say that they think Chenal will take Willie Gay’s place when K.C. decides to pay Nick Bolton and let Gay walk… but that’s further on down the line.
.
Bryan Cook
Back on June 2nd I wrote a piece here at ArrowheadOne called, “Top 5 Chiefs to Ball Out in Year Two” and Safety Bryan Cook was mentioned 2nd on my list. Now that Juan Thornhill is gone, Cook could end up the starter next to Justin Reid depending on how he performs in Training camp and how quickly newbie Mike Edwards adapts. We also should not ignore the opinions of Nick Bolton now that he is the Chiefs all-time leading tackler for one season. He said:
.
.
Cook… “huge strides.” Hmm.
Also mentioned on my Top Five list was: Skyy Moore, George Karlaftis, Jaylen Watson, Joshua Williams, and Isiah Pacheco. I realize, that makes more than five. Yes, I flunked my graduate level Statistics class. So, sue me.
.
Noah Gray
I can’t express enough how much I’d like to see Noah Gray breakout this year. Part of that has to do with how Potent the Prince of Tight Ends, Travis Kelce, performs this year… (Kelce has also said Noah Gray has undergone a growth spurt this offseason, Gray just turned 24)… and part of it has to do with Kelce getting up there in age (he turns 34 in October, and for an NFL player who either hits, or gets hit, on 99% of the plays of the game, that’s saying something).
.
.
ChiefsFocus.com has written an article called: “Chiefs’ 2023 Breakout Predictions” in which they have predicted that Noah Gray will be one of the Chiefs breakout players this season:
.
.
Well, now it is being talked about and that catch by Noah Gray was one of the greatest catches I’ve ever seen (OTH… I may have a shortened memory based on my advancing age). At least the announcers admit it was a “Kelce-like” catch. Ahh, the King lives and breathes in Kansas City.
.
ArrowheadPride
ArrowheadPride.com has had a number of “breakout” articles this year (2023). One was written about Bryan Cook. One was written about Skyy Moore. One was also written by John Dixon a year ago and is called: “How Clyde Edwards-Helaire could be poised for a third-season breakout.” Dixon believed Clyde Edwards-Helaire could have had a third-year breakout and quoted Brett Veach as saying:
.
“The kid, his interior running ability, just the vision and the instincts are just rare and unique. The guy kind of has the ability to play the game in slow motion. Lateral, agility, vision, his ability to start and stop and redirect his hands out of the backfield. Some of those guys — one guy may have one trait, the other guy has another trait. We felt like he kind of had all of those traits.”
.
However, we all know how that turned out. There are some here on AO who think CEH should pack his bags and be ready to load a U-Haul trailer. However, it appears CEH is now going to put a ring on it:
.
.
Rings usually are a sign of stability and possibly even longevity. Consequently, CEH will likely still be around for this season (maybe even more)… no matter what any of us thinks. Plus, since it’s a contract year for him, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he does have a breakout type season.
.
Patrick Mahomes
It goes without saying… that Patrick Mahomes will have another breakout season. Anyone else notice that there are a boatload of pass catchers on this list (including RBs)? If they do breakout… any number of them… then it’s because of Patrick Mahomes. Right? Right! If PM does breakout along with his pass catchers, we can all be planning for another parade next February.
