Chiefs, Bucs Results

The Kansas City Chiefs have just played another thriller. You could call it the Michael Jackson game if you like, it’s all the same to me. The first half was all George Karlaftis, on Defense, too so he deserves a Game Ball for his performance as well. The headline for this game should be “Kansas City Wins and Goes to 8-and-0” and since the end of last season, the Chiefs are now 14-and-0. These Chiefs were behind in this game by the score of 17-to-10 at the end of the 3rd quarter but perhaps the biggest story of this game was –> Time of Possession. The Chiefs won that battle by 40:42 to 25:10 at the end of Overtime. To win the time of possession by 15+ minutes is incredible.

K.C. also won the 1st Downs battle by 11… K.C. had 28 and the Bucs had 17. By these numbers you’d have thought K.C. would have blown them out. Although I predicted a blowout for the Chiefs it wasn’t really over until the Last Play when BR Kareem Hunt burst over the goal line for the final score:

WR DeAndre Hopkins had two TDs in this game. Here’s his first one:

In a game that had 6 lead changes, the Chiefs seemed lucky to come out on top. Maybe “lucky” isn’t the right word. “Fortunate” seems more well suited. The game was a quarterback showdown in the end. Even with RB Kareem Hunt taking over in the fourth quarter, each of the team’s QBs played well enough for their team to win. Baker Mayfield was 23 of 31 for 200 yards and 2 TDs and a passer rating of 112.3. That’s exceptional. Patrick was 33 of 44 with 3 TD passes and a passer rating of 116.8. That’s exceptional-er. 😆

Neither QB threw an INT and while Baker Mayfield was sacked twice, Mahomes was sacked 4 time.

DE George Karlaftis had 4 Tackles, 3 of them were Solo Tackles, one was a sack (see below), one was behind the line of scrimmage, one was a pass defensed, and one was QB Hit. Here’s the time the Bucs tried blocking him with a Tight End:

That didn’t work out well for the Bucs.

Here’s Kareem Hunt’s best plays of the game:

Did anyone else notice that K.C. brought #66, Mike Caliendo, in as an extra OL on that last play?

Travis Kelce had started out the season slowly, but has come on in the past two weeks with 190 receiving yards. In his first 6 games Kelce had 245 yards but in the past two weeks has had 190 yards for a total on the year of 435 receiving yards. Big Yeti has made a big difference in recent weeks. He had 28 catches in his first six games vs 24 catches over the last two week. Versus the Buccaneers? –> 14 catches for 100 receiving yards.

Here’s Deandre Hopkins after the game:

HC Andy Reid says he,

“Didn’t call enough runs in the first half and that he

told the offensive line in the second half that he was

going to take a more balanced approach. Says they

also did a better job running downhill in the second

half. High praise for the O-Line, too.”

What did you think of the game?
