Wow, the NFL offseason popped off last week! Last week saw…
.
moves made,
quarterbacks payed,
and teams plotting for upcoming trades.
.
Fisher and Schwartz are Chiefs no more, and rumors abound as to who’s next shown the door. The NFL awarded the Chiefs an extra pick or two, while teams eye the draft for someone new. Buckle up Chiefs Kingdom, while we review the week that was.
.
This Week in Chiefs News
The Unkindest of Cuts – The Chiefs let go of both Mitchell Schwartz and Eric Fisher in an attempt to stay under the $182.5 million salary cap imposed by the NFL this season. Both, whatever they decide to do, will forever remain Chiefs in my heart.
.
.
Sterling Mahomes Letter of Intent – Earlier this week, Texas Tech sent a letter of intent to the daughter of both alumni, Brittney Lynn Matthews and Patrick Mahomes II. While the letter is certainly more of a congratulatory note rather than a real offer, it’s a nod to the happy new parents.
.
.
But Wait, there’s More – the Chiefs picked up two more draft picks this year.

Elsewhere Around the League
The NFL Announces $182.5 Million NFL Salary Cap – teams are struggling to keep their teams viable for postseason play with the NFL-imposed $182.5 million dollar salary cap.
.
.
Dak’s Stacks! – Talk about money for nothing — Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones just gifted their supposed QB $140 million for four years, although he’s led them to just a single postseason victory in his five years as a Cowboy. Must be nice.
.
.
Thank You, Mr. Brees – Fifteen years to the day that Drew Brees signed with and vitalized the New Orlean ‘Aints (you old-school fans will remember), he announced hi retirement from the NFL. Thanks for the memories.
.
.
Gentleman, Start Your Engines! – This week, the proverbial sh!t gets real. Starting today, teams are free to reach out to player’s agents, and visa-versa. Let the sparks fly and chips fall where they may. As I stated above — Buckle Up!

I bought some shoes from a drug dealer.
I’m not sure what they were laced with, but I’ve been trippin’ all day!

A Reason to Celebrate This Week
This Thursday, March 18th, is National Awkward Moments Day. It’s a day for us to see the humor in awkward moments of our life and laugh at them. I’ve had enough for a lifetime, but, alas, none captured on film (save for my school photos). So rather than poke fun at myself and regal ArrowheadOne readers with a tale of my many, never-ending, embarrassing escapades (ask me about our family move to North Carolina), I’ll give you a four-for-one at the expense of our own Red and Gold.
.
.
In an ill-advised sneak play against the Atlanta Falcons in week 16 of last season, Chiefs wide receiver Sammy Watkins tosses a poot-of-a-pass to a well-covered Patrick Mahomes on fourth down resulting in an interception. Watkins, Mahomes, offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, and head coach Andy Reid all share the blame, shame, and embarrassment in this most awkward of moments in Chiefs lore.

Sometimes, you just gotta help a young fella out!
