Chiefs Chatter, News, Moves, & Stuff That Matters, XIV

This time of year is often an exciting time for NFL fans, as the anticipation of a season a little over two short months away fills us with anticipation and high expectations. Yet, it also has the feel of watching paint dry, too, as nothing is happening save for a few titillating tweets from players and pundits, a cavalcade of public appearances and charity events by some league superstars, and rumors (always, just rumors) of last-minute blockbuster trades in the works. In short, it’s boring. However, the Chiefs head to training camp (in St. Joe!) in less than a month. Even so, September 12th can’t get here soon enough. Bring on the Browns!

.

Anyhoo, let’s get at it.

.

This Week In Chiefs News

This Week On “America’s Dumbest Criminals” … – The Los Angeles Police Department arrested Kansas City Chiefs defensive end Frank Clark during a vehicle code violation traffic stop last Sunday evening. Officers reportedly spotted a bag with an Uzi submachine gun sticking out. LAPD officers arrested him on the spot for felony firearm possession. Clark posted $35,000 bond the next day, securing his release.

.

This is Clark’s second arrest this year for gun charges. LAPD reportedly also arrested the Chiefs DE on a gun charge in March 2021. The Chiefs front office has yet to comment, saying only that they “are aware of the situation.”

.

.

As former KMOX radio host Jim White, the Big Bumper, used to say, “You can’t fix stupid.”

.

It’s A Go In St. Joe

The Chiefs will return to Missouri Western in St. Joseph, Missouri on July 28th this year for training camp. That’s right, it’s a go in St. Joe, folks.

.

.

I’m with Chiefs defensive tackle Khalen Saunders, “(We) Won the Super Bowl when we were in St. Joe, so I know cuz Coach Reid gonna eat that up.” The Red and Gold’s February 2022 trip to So-Fi Stadium in Inglewood, CA starts in St. Joseph, MO in July 2021.

.

Character Counts… Always!

To help get the unpleasant taste of Frank Clark’s misdeeds in L.A. last week, can we just take a moment to appreciate the wholesome character of most our Chiefs players? We’ve got Tyreek Hill helping the boys and girls of Kansas City with his 2nd annual celebrity charity basketball game.

.

.

Our resident doctor/player, Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, is a finalist for ESPN’s Muhammad Ali Humanitarian Award. ESPN will announce the winner on Saturday, July 10th during the 2021 ESPYS.

.

.

Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce teamed up with San Francisco tight end George Kittle to help the young guns in the same position by hosting their Tight End University, where they are sharing their knowledge, experience, and other odd assortments of tight end wizardry to the NFL’s next generation of TEs.

.

.

Even the rookies are in on the action. Chiefs rookie offensive guard Trey Smith traveled back to his college stomping grounds in Tennessee to give back to the kids in the community. Mr. Smith is an OG in both senses of the word.

.

.

That’s only scratching the surface, Chiefs Kingdom. I could write an entire article, or four, about the good that our organization and its people and players do throughout the community. One day, I will. Soon.

.

Elsewhere Around the League

Diversity Finds it Way To The NFL – Last Monday, Las Vegas defensive end Carl Nassib courageously announced to the world that he was gay. In doing so, the five-year NFL veteran became the first active NFL player to announce that they were gay.

.

.

Even more heartwarming is the support Nassib is receiving from his peers, league-wide.

.

.

Also, I want to state categorically, while I absolutely admire and support Nassib 100 percent, I still hate the Raiders equally, if not more.

.

With an opt-out deadline looming this Friday, July 2nd, there’s nothing really new in the Aaron Rodgers-Green Bay Packers standoff. This stalemate looks to rival the Cuban Missile Crisis if no one blinks. There’s no joy in Mudville, still, and Green Bay ain’t too happy, either.

.

.

An Astute Observation Stating the Obvious – Super Bowl LV MVP Tom Brady shocking the world with this revelation, “It’s coming to an end.”

Gee, Tom, at 43-years-old, do you think that’s a real possibility?

.

.

Sorry. Tom Brady is the most over-rated player in the NFL. That’s not sour grapes, either. I said it ten, fifteen years ago, and I’ll say it until I’m six-foot under. He’s a prima donna diva who will always be second to the real GOAT, Joe Montana. That is, until MVPat surpasses both!

.

Chiefs Player Tweet of the Week

There’s absolutely nothing more pleasurable, aside for a Chiefs win, perhaps, than seeing young ‘uns enjoy themselves. Just look at them lil’ Honey Badgers geaux!
