We’re less than a week away from the Chiefs first game of the 2021 season. I know it’s preseason, but I’m stoked. After almost six months of not seeing the Red & Gold, I’m starving to see them take the field. Chiefs Kingdom, football season is here! Let’s get at it!

This Week In Chiefs News
All the Chiefs news came from St. Joseph, MO this week, and it was only about three things: training camp, training camp, and training camp. If the reposts coming out of Western Missouri (they can), the Chiefs are locked and loaded, ready to go.
.
Chiefs WR Mecole Hardman appears to realize the import of him stepping up his game to fill the shoes of Sammy Watkins. He’s looked sharp the entire training camp and appears to have grown into the maturity required and expected of a third year NFL wide receiver.
.
.
The Red & Gold rookies continue to impress. Mizzou linebacker Nick Bolton looks built for the NFL and the Chiefs. I expect big things for him this season. I’ll go so far as to predict: Bolton will be the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year. His commitment to excellence will bode well for our Chiefs and his NFL career.
.
.
Rookie tight end Noah Gray showed flashes of brilliance, and gives Chiefs Kingdom hope that, when the time comes, there will be life after Travis Kelce.
.
.
I’ve not seen much video of Chiefs second-year running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire this training camp, but what I hear, I really like. I think he has a real shot at NFL Offensive Player of the Year. I also foresee four-digit rushing yards for him this season.
.
.
On the defensive side, veterans Tyrann Mathieu and Chris Jones are both hungry for another Lombardi, and are passing on their passion to fellow defensive teammate, veterans and rookies alike. After all, as everyone knows, “Honey Badger don ‘t care.”
.
.
As for the veterans, what can one say? Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce and quarterback Patrick Mahomes look to be in fresh form, ready to knock the moldy dust of last February’s Super Bowl loss from the memory of Chiefs Kingdom. They are all, veterans and rookies alike, new Chiefs and old Chiefs, all of them, truly focused on Taking It Back. It’s going to be one heckuva ride!

Elsewhere Around the League
Dream On
There was little news elsewhere around the league, other than homers confident that their assorted rag-tag teams actually have a shot. Optimism is in abundance in the AFC West, where the Las Vegas Raiders, Los Angeles Chargers, and Denver Broncos all wistfully — and foolishly — believe they can knock the Chiefs from atop the AFC West. The only real contest from these three teams is… who will be the AFC West’s cellar dwellers this season. My money’s on the Vegas made Raiders.

Classy Move
Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady attending the induction of his longtime nemesis Peyton Manning is a classy move and shows the respect the two have for one another. I still dislike Tom Brady, but I give credit where credit is due. Smooth move, Mr. Brady.

Chiefs Quote of the Week
“I like what I see.” – Chiefs head coach Andy Reid on the Chiefs training camp

Chiefs Blast from the Past
Dwayne Bowe, when he was on his game, was otherworldly. He (2010) and Tyreek Hill (2020) share the Chiefs receiving touchdowns in a single season (15). I predict the Cheetah takes the record away this season.

Dad Joke of the Week
How does a Raider fan change a light bulb?
They don’t, they just talk about how good the old one was.

It. Is. On. Baby!

A Smile To Start Your Week
I can’t think of a better way to start the week on the cusp of the Chiefs 2021 season than with this hype video showing past, present, and future. I can’t wait.
