Who would have thought that this week would be busier than the last? Who would have thunk it?? Last week GM Brett Veach added a WR by the name of Ihmir Smith-Marsette, so what did he do this week just for the fun of it? He added another WR.

The mercurial Mr. Toney is already signed sealed and delivered, much to the chagrin of some fans of the Arrowhead Kingdom. Whether you are for him, or against him, he is going to play for your Kansas City Chiefs and he may be doing that as soon as next weekend when the Chiefs go up against the Tennessee Titans in Arrowhead Stadium. If he does play next Sunday, it will likely be as a Punt Returner or on a simple play like a Jet Sweep, since he has loads of speed.
Some fans have concerns over who will be sent off of the 53 man squad to make room for this new acquisition. Well, with Frank Clark now on a two week vacation (suspension), it won’t matter much until he comes back.
It’s been suggested that the addition of Kadarius Toney is meant to help in the long run and that he won’t have much of an impact this season. Dag-nab-it, that’s one crazy take when you consider that Toney will be appearing in his first game against the Titans and that’s in week 10 of a very long season (17 games, plus playoff games and three preseason game to boot).
One thing I’d like to make clear is… Toney is not the next coming of Tyreek Hill… nor Dante Hall — even though I’ve compared him to Hall and Barry Sanders —
.
Chiefs Kingdom should embrace Kadarius Toney and do as Andy Reid does: ask him to “show his personality.”
.
The addition of WR Kadarius Toney has been met with a bevy of headwinds by Chiefs Kingdom simply because we fans have been thinking that the Chiefs biggest need is at Defensive End, especially since Frank Clark is going on a two week hiatus. The truly sad part of Clark’s being suspended at this time is that he’s been elevating his game to the 2019 form (when we won the Super Bowl), or even his 2018 form (when he was with Seattle). In any event, the Chiefs still need a Defensive Line presence and furthermore, they will need a DE moving forward, meaning, following this season.
The Panthers Brian Burns has been this fan’s favorite toy soldier — too early for a Christmas reference??? –and I’ve been thinking the Chiefs would be ready to march into any battle with him on our side. Burns has 5.0 sacks this season (in 7 games) and 29 tackles, 8 Tackles For a Loss (TFLs) and 7 QB Hits. The Panthers may have just traded away RB Christian McCaffery for a boatload of picks from the 49ers, but the real steal would be Burns. In the meantime, we do know the Chiefs (and GM Brett Veach) has spoken with the Jags about their DE prize boxer — too early for a Boxing Day reference??? — Josh Allen (no not THAT QB Josh Allen… THIS DE/OLB Josh Allen).
The DE/OLB Josh Allen has 3 sacks this season, 19 Tackles, 5 Tackles for a Loss (TFLs) and 11 QB Hits. While he might cost less than Brian Burns, I favor Burns. Burns is 24 and was drafted in 2019 with the 16th pick overall.

.
Allen is 25 years old and was also drafted in 2019, with the 7th pick overall. Both the Panthers and the Jaguars are currently, 2-and-5 and going nowhere at a high velocity.

I’ve heard differing opinions about the possibility that the Chiefs would still go after OBJ now that they’ve singed Kadarius Toney. I’m inclined to believe Brett Veach will still try and make room for Odell Beckham Jr. but not until he can actually work out and show he’s is close to 100% following his surgery from an ACL injury in Super Bowl LVI. OBJ’s 1st ACL injury was about a year-and-a-half ago vs the Cleveland Browns. His latest one was a non-contact injury in February. He would not have been signed by the Rams unless he was recovered from his ACL vs the Browns so now it’s a matter of whether or not he’s fully rehabbed from his surgery after the Super Bowl injury.
The timing on that is December of this year and why wouldn’t Veach be a player in that deal. He can still re-structure another player to free up more cap space, if necessary. I say: why the H not?

The Return of the Mac… I mean… the return of McDuffie, is a big deal for the Chiefs defense. Not only because he was their first round pick in the Spring this year, but because he was playing so well not only in the Training camp sessions and preseason games, but he balled out in the first half of the first game of this season. McDuffie played on 49% of the Chiefs D snaps in that game vs the Cardinals. That was 32 snaps and he gave up 0 receiving yards and didn’t allowed 1 pass completion in his direction, not even one. Maybe we should associate him with the Return of the Mack lyrics after all:
.
So I’m back up in the game
Running things to keep my swing
Letting all the people know
That I’m back to run the show

The biggest move the Chiefs made this week was to sign WR Kadarius Toney of course. They also made some moves last weekend that were not included in my last Chiefs Headlines report. Straight from the Chiefs Transactions:
“Dicaprio Bootle (CB), Marcus Kemp (WR) activated via standard elevation from practice squad. Willie Gay (LB) activated to the 53-man roster.”
Dicaprio Bootle has had his merry-go-round fun with the Practice Squad (PS) and the Active 53-man roster. K.C. has sent him down and then activated him multiple times this year.
Marcus Kemp, on the other hand, has been cut by K.C. and while he signed with the N.Y. Giants last year, they consequently waived him too. Take a look at Kemp’s career-juggling show this season:
.
Hard to feel sorry for Kemp as he is making $277,200 this year. He also once said, “I pride myself on making the squad.”
That seems to be the glass ceiling for him. He also sounds like a glass half full kind of guy.
The real story here is the return of LB Willie Gay. Gay is the Chiefs ultra-athletic linebacker and his return last week was a wonder to behold. Take a look at Willie Gay’s speed-sack against the 49ers (props to Nick Jacobs). Gay starts out at the bottom of your screen:
