I’m gald the Chiefs finally addressed the Clyde Edwards-Helaire situation. When some one is sick and throwing up and dealing with PTSD, you never know what might upset them. While I was concerned that the Chiefs would just ignore the situation, I’m glad the finally took action and gave him an NFI designation:

Special Teams Coach Dave Toub said that he would choose between several players to take back kickoffs including: Carson Steele, Skyy Moore, Mecole Hardman, Xavier Worthy and possibly Samaje Perine.

I had expected Jaylen Watson to become the eventual replacement for L’Jarius Sneed at CB and that’s what Andy Reid has announced. Watson was a 7th round selection in the 2022 NFL Draft. Watson has said he played through a torn labrum injury in his left shoulder which he got in against Jacksonville last year… then he had surgery on his shoulder in March. I thought he was the best fit to replace Sneed, and that’s apparently what the Chiefs plan is, with Trent McDuffie stepping up into the clear and uncontested #1 CB role. McDuffie was First Team All Pro in 2023.

You can see all the starters in BOLD and Jaylen Watson makes the 5th man to become a starter from that draft class.

It looks like we’ll have all of the 2024 Season WITH Rashee Rice on the field. In and article by Peter Grathoff and Jesse Newell for the Kansas City Star called, “Chiefs’ Rashee Rice likely won’t be suspended for start of season, NFL says” they indicate that the:

Since that’s long after the 2024 season has concluded, the NFL likely won’t be assessing a suspension until the 2025 season, if at all. BTW, Rice denies all accusations. That being said, there is video evidence of the occurrence.

The blind side protection for Patrick Mahomes is still up in the air. IOW, it hasn’t been 100% decided that Kingsley Suamataia is up to the task. We hope he is… but seeing is believing. Besides, who really needs to see Mahomes on the IR list?

HC Andy Reid says Suamataia has prepared himself for the role of blindside protector and PFF says he’s gotten the highest grade of all the OTs taken in the most recent draft.

In the most recent NFL Draft, OT Joe Alt was taken 5th overall by the Chargers, J.C. Latham was taken 7th overall by the Titans and Olu Fashanu was taken 11th overall by the Jets. Plus, eight other OTs were taken before Suamataia. So, that’s eleven OTs taken before Kingsley Suamataia at pick #63. On top of that, Roger Rosengarten, an OT out of Washington, was taken by these same Baltimore Ravens, one pick before Suamataia. So, they could have had him, but chose Rosengarten instead. Here’s Price Carter providing a look at all of Suamataia’s preseason debut snaps:

Let’s not forget this… and I think Chris Clark said it best:

What do you think?
