It’s truly the Kansas City Chiefs offseason. While there are no activities to report, that doesn’t mean there’s nothing happening. With the Draft two months in the past and the Free Agency period three months ago now, it’s time to focus on what will be happening during training camp coming up in four short weeks. Some are still backwards focused on the Super Bowl winning season the Chiefs just finished, but most of the Chiefs are in line with the newest season coming right up. So, let’s dig right in.

Many Kingdom fans are all in a tizzy over the fact that Chris Jones has not been signed to an extension yet. We know that an extension would free up some more cap dollars this year so that K.C. could possibly sign another player… like WR DeAndre Hopkins.
.
.
No matter what Ryan Tracy and/or Daniel Harms say, David Bell and I are aligned on this one, that the Chiefs WR room is not in need of a WR like D-Hop. Sure, it could “use” D-Hop, but need?? So, the likelihood that the Chiefs would stand pat even if (when) they re-up Chris Jones is high.
.
.
While I think many fans have moved on from the idea that D-Hop could sign with the Chiefs, getting an extension done for CJ is a high priority and he makes the Chiefs a better team when ever he’s on the field. Whenever he shows up… period!

CBS Sports, and Pete Prisco, have published a list of the Top 100 players in the NFL from the 2022 season. The Chiefs placed five players on that list including:
.
1. Patrick Mahomes (#1)
2. Travis Kelce (#6)
3. Chris Jones (#13)
4. Creed Humphrey (#40)
5. Joe Thuney (#80)
.
Also, ESPN has ranked those five as the best “core” in the NFL.

I’ve been saying for quite some time that Andy Reid is the biggest reason for the Chiefs recent successes. Meaning… not Patrick Mahomes. Why do I think that way? Because of his play calling and play design. Reid’s willingness to call unusual plays, even plays that get players on other teams upset with him (see below). These out of the box plays are actually great thoughts and moments for Chiefs Kingdom fans.
.
.
That little “Ring-around-the-rosie” play that Quin Meinerz is referring to is actually called, “Snow Globe” and is just one of a truck load of unusual plays Reid has in his bag of tricks. Plus, ex-OC Eric Bieniemy has gone off to the Commanders to be their OC this year… and that likely means that Andy Reid spent extra time this offseason coming up with new “unusual” play so that EB doesn’t still have all the keys to the Kingdom. Patrick Mahomes shared in a media event recently:
.
“He (Andy Reid) calls me at the most random times. He calls me at 4:00 A.M. and I’m just like, “Coach, I’m sleeping.” He’s up, and he saw a play that he likes that he wants to talk to me about. I love it though. We love football and we get to come up with these creative plays… he’s always working.”

Justyn Ross is looking good. No… REALLY good. Why does that matter? Because if Ross is so good that he could have an impact for the Chiefs this season, it will mean they have to send someone else to the Practice Squad… or… send Justyn Ross. If it’s Ross again, you can count on another team nabbing him and then the Chiefs will have to see all the patience they’ve had with Ross for the past season go right down the drain. Here’s what Cole DeRuse of “How Bout Those CHIEFS” had to say about Justyn Ross working out with Skyy Moore and the possibilities of him making the team (1:10):

The Clark family lost Lamar Hunt’s wife Norma on June 4th, earlier this month. A week later, they were having their Super Bowl Ring Ceremony. At least she got to witness the Super Bowl victory over the Eagles in February. Norma attended every single Super Bowl. Here’s a picture taken a couple of years ago showing Lamar and Norma as well as Clark and Tavia (Clark’s wife). Photos were taken exactly 50 years apart.
