CHIEFS Headlines

The Kansas City Chiefs have been busy beavers, as far as roster transactions are concerned, even though it’s now the middle of the 2022 season. However, I’ll get to transactions later.

.

Is this week’s game a “Trap Game” for the Kansas City Chiefs? For that to be the case, the Chiefs would have to be looking past the Colts or taking them too lightly. I don’t think that’s going to happen. Yes, the game is in Indianapolis and yes, the game is their HOME Opener, but I don’t hear the Chiefs players or coaches making any statements that would indicate they’re not taking the Colts seriously. DC Steve Spagnuolo said this week: “We’re gonna get everything that they have.” That doesn’t sound like a coach that’s taking their next opponent lightly.

.

.

However, not everyone agrees with me. Here’s what Harrison Graham has to say about it:

A big deal has been made of the fact that WR rookie Skyy Moore only had two snaps last week. When asked about this, OC Eric Bieniemy said:

.

I said prior to the season beginning that I believed that Skyy Moore would become the Chiefs #1 WR by the year’s end and although he hasn’t been in the Chiefs plans much so far, I’m still sticking with that projection.

.

Sometimes, I come across information that is so good, I just have to share it. This time, it comes in the form of a video. Here’s the Chiefs Matt McMullen’s, “Six Stats to Know:”

A lot is being made of Willie Gay’s suspension: the length, and the timing. However, I have been high on his replacement, Darius Harris, for quite some time now and I’m glad he’s getting a chance to show what he can do, in Gay’s absence. Here’s a breakdown of a Darius Harris play vs the Packers in this year’s last preseason game offered by Ron Kopp Jr.:

A week ago, on September 13th, both LBs, Jack Cochrane and Elijah Lee, were activated from practice squad. Was that prior to Willie Gay’s suspension being handed down? Yes. That indicates the Chiefs were prepping for the loss of Gay and in any event, I’m glad the Chiefs Linebacking position is strong enough to bring these two along (as well as promoting Darius Harris to that starting position next to Nick Bolton).

Since K.C. has to play the numbers game with the practice squad… they sent Kicker Matt Ammendola, CB Dicaprio Bootle and WR Corey Coleman back down to the PS… it also means they had to cut someone and that person was Safety James Wiggins (his contract was terminated), who they had just signed a week prior.

ArrowheadPride did a fine job covering the movements of DE Kendall Blanton:

“The 26-year-old Blanton is a native of Kansas City suburb Blue Springs, Missouri. He grew up there because his father is Jerry Blanton, who was a Chiefs linebacker from 1979 through 1985. The Chiefs also went through some effort to acquire the former University of Missouri tight end. The team tried to claim him when the Rams (the team that originally signed him as an un-drafted free agent in 2019) waived him on August 22 — but the Washington Commanders were awarded his contract. The Chiefs got another chance when the Commanders waived him on final cut-down day. This time, he cleared waivers to become a free agent — and joined the Chiefs practice squad on September 1.

Blanton will now return to the team with which he earned a Super Bowl ring in 2021.”

An all new, “The Franchise” is out. Here’s “The Franchise: Season 3, Episode 4:”
