Chiefs Host Bucs: OPEN THREAD

Laddie Morse

Wow, it’s November, already. The great news is, the Kansas City Chiefs are 7-and-0 and with that perfect record they already lead their division by three plus games. I say “plus” because if for some reason they end in a tie with another AFC West team, how ever unlikely, they would have the conference benefit of winning head to head competition. The Chiefs currently have an opponent in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who held K.C. to three field goals in Super Bowl LV (50), a 31-to-9 final, but these are not nearly the same Bucs from that game nearly four years ago. Maybe that’s the reason I hate field goals so much.

I keep waiting for the Chiefs to blowout a team. Maybe this is the game?

I’m with Jyair. Is this the game? I beleive it is. While I’m picking the Chiefs to win 38-to-13, it’s the defensive performance that will have me jumping for joy. Especially if they can hold the Bucs to 13 points or lower. The Bucs will be without their two prize WRs: Mike Evens and Chris Godwin.

I know I said Chris Godwin was going to be out of this game but here more information on him and his injury:

My game score prediction is based mostly on Mike Evans and Chris Godwin being unavailable for this game. Here, Chris Godwin is carted off the field in their October 21st game with the Baltimore Ravens:

Last week Godwin was placed on the Bucs Injured Reserve list on Wednesday, which means, he’ll be out at least the next four games including the MNF game against K.C..

While the Chiefs are the eleventh best scoring offense in the league this season, the Bucs are the 4th best. In fact, in the Bucs last five games they have averaged, 34.2 points per game with 171 points totaled. While the Bucs are 2-and-3 in those las five games, QB Baker Mayfield has found a way to keep on slinging it. TE Cade Otton has become a primary target for Mayfield and since the Chiefs have typically not covered TEs well this year, he is a cause for concern:

Te Chiefs offense keeps on keeping on no matter who is available or not. With the Bucs allowing the 30th most Yards Per Game with 387, the Cfhis Offense shoud have no problems moving the ball. This is the main reason I’m hopeful for a blowout. While K.C. ranks 5th overall in TDs per game with 1.9 the Bucs are 27th with 3.0. Big difference. Here’s a short video of the Chiefs versus the Chargers earlier this season… when they were still unbeaten of course. Mitch Holthus on the call. I expect to see much more of this vs the Bucs on MNF (2:23).

Here’s Rich Eisen talking to Baker Mayfield reminiscing about the highest total yards game played in college (4:48):

Mahomes lost that game to Mayfield that day, 51-to-48, so we may see one of these teams scoring a boat load of points, but it’s hard for me to see the Bucs doing that. Not with DC Steve Spagnuolo standing on the Chiefs sideline calling Defensive plays.

It looks like it will be a rain soaked game. While I don’t think the rain will have a negative effect our players, it’s the Kingdom fans and their ability to make noise that concerns me.

What do you think?
