Chiefs Issues: A Case of He Said-She Said

Laddie Morse

One of the biggest issues facing the Kansas City Chiefs right now is the WR position and who will be getting the majority of the catches on passes thrown by QB Patrick Mahomes? In other words, who is going to be wide receiver number one? Some will see this as a question about who will replace Rashee Rice and some will just see it as not an issue at all. From a fans vantage point, it only matters in temrs of what does HC Andy Reid think… or… GM Brett Veach. Andy Reid said this week:

It sounds like Reid is open to the team signing a WR to help out (before the early November trade deadline), but as always, Reid is hedging his bets. Meaning, his statement is non-committal, as always.

It’s 49ers week and that means a game against a team the Chiefs have beaten in the Super Bowl twice in the past five years, in Super Bowls LIV and LVIII. Hayley Lewis of KCSN interviewed Tracy Sandler of FGSN (FanGirl Sports Network) about this game and the 49ers approach to this upcoming affair (4:56):

This next point is not so much something Andy Reid said, but has accomplished over his lifetime as a head coach. In a recent article called: “Andy Reid leads the NFL on this obscure stat” by female writer, Krysyan Edler, for desertnews. She says:

She goes on to point out that this is an .840 winning percentage and only two of the losses have come in the past 7 seasons.

In Monday’s presser, Reid was asked about the Red Zone problems this year compared to the successes in past seasons and he said:

Chiefs offensive coordinator, Matt Nagy, said this about having Patrick Mahomes on his team:

You may not be keeping up with the latest cast of FMFB (Good Morning Football), but when Akbar Gbajabiamila (a former DE who played for the Raiders, Chargers and Dolphins) went on a rant to tell everyone that the Chiefs are the best team in football right now, he was spitting 100% facts (1:04)

You may (or may not) recall that the NFL Live gang makes their weekly pregame predictions which they all did prior to Week Two for the Chiefs game vs the Bengals. However…

Someone pranked the hosts of that show when they all had actually picked the Chiefs but……. their real picks looked like this:

The actual game ended up as a 26-25 close call, a win for the Chiefs in Arrowhead. While I love Dan Orlovsky’s film breakdowns, I find Laura Rutledge and Mina Kimes as the best of this group. I prefer Mina Kimes who is usually the best at verbally breaking down an upcoming game.

What are the hottest Chiefs issues in your mind? Plus, is their a male, or female, that you prefer as an analyst?

What do you think?
