Chiefs Kareem Hunt Shoves and Kicks a Woman

It’s a sad day in Chiefs Kingdom. The Kansas City Chiefs starting running back, Kareem Hunt, has now been captured on video hitting and kicking a woman.

[Note: The reason I chose that video is because there are several copies out there that don’t show the whole story.]

I could explain how I think Kareem Hunt looks intoxicated in this video and that the people around him mostly look the same but… THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR ABUSE OF WOMEN. Period.

This is a Hotel security video so it has been out there but surfaced today. Since that video has already existed… and we knew about the event months ago, there is now the question about how much the Chiefs GM Brett Veach or HC Andy Reid knew about this video. Whether or not they had seen it? Or if they knew it was out there and chose not to view it?

Although it was reported by the woman who was assaulted at the time, no chargers were ever made against Hunt.

Kareem Hunt will now go onto something called the NFL Commissioner’s EXEMPT LIST until their office can do a full investigation of the video. Hunt was at practice earlier today but then dismissed and sent home.

Many will want to talk about what this means for the Chiefs chances moving forward but let’s stick to the point: no matter what you might think of the people who show up in this video with Kareem Hunt, he willfully chose to push down and then strike a woman with his foot.

The minimum appears to be a 6 game suspension. The maximum could be a one-year to a life-time suspension but let’s not forget that Kareem Hunt needs help. That should be the focus for those who are incharge and working with Hunt moving forward.

Comparatively, many are saying this is on a par with what Ray Rice did (hitting his fiancee hard and knocking her out in an elevator). Four years ago, Ray Rice was indicted for third-degree aggravated assault for that attack on his fiancee. Just like today… the video of the event was released by TMZ. The outrage that NFL fans expressed when they saw that video was very different than how they felt after they heard about or read about that event second-hand. Seeing it on film made all the difference. The same appears true here for Hunt. While Rice was suspended indefinitely he was later reinstated by the courts but… never played a down again in the NFL.

That is not out of the realm of possibilities here for Kareem Hunt. He got himself into this horrendous situation and now he will have to live with whatever the league decides. And so will we.

One more thing… if anyone at One Arrowhead Way knew anything about this video (and it’s hard ot believe they didn’t)… there will be a lot more to this story as the coming months unfold.
