Chiefs Leap Day 2024, Issues

Laddie Morse

30 years ago — or so– I decided to have a Leap Day Party at my house so I convinced a local butcher in Brookside to make Frog Legs available (he even thought it was such a great idea that he hung a sign in his window announcing that he had Frog Legs for sale) and I served them for a treat. If you haven’t had them before they taste like chicken. Really! Well, it’s Leap Day once again, which only comes around every four years, but form a Chiefs Kingdom fan standpoint, it’s time jump on some issues. 😆

I see myself as a positive person. That’s mostly because I had a heart-attack in the classroom — I spent 39 years as a classroom teacher — over 17 years ago and the doctor said it was mostly due to my having High Blood pressure which came about from periods of high anxiety. Consequently, I’ve done away with things that cause me any anxiety at all… primarily “things” I’d worry about.

That’s probably why I didn’t get too upset when the Chiefs announced their new additions to Arrowhead Stadium. Apparently, there are plenty of Kingdom fans who are upset, and plenty, about those changes… or lack thereof. The following is taken from a Chiefs Kingdom fan named Connie Jo who is quoting Clark Hunt from the presser event yesterday:

The one big sticking point for me is the Chiefs not ever hosting a Super Bowl because Arrowhead is open to the elements. I was living in the Dallas area when the vote was taken years ago, to add a roof or a rolling roof to Arrowhead and Royals stadiums so I was out of the loop then. Still, as a long time Chiefs fan, I can see now, I will never get to experience a Super Bowl in Arrowhead Stadium.

A roof that could be rolled over Arrowhead Stadium (as well as Royal Stadium) doesn’t have to mean weather will not be an element of the Arrowhead experience. If the roof could roll, it would also mean the grass would still get direct sunlight whenever possible.

With the NFLPA Survey showing that the Chiefs fell two slots and once again finished near the bottom of the list of team’s surveyed, brings up another issue;

If you agree with Clark Hunt that the NFL will one day approve a Super Bowl to be played in Arrowhead without a roof, please raise your hand. No hands up, huh? Mine either. I do notice that the NFL hasn’t gone to a cold weather city any time in the past ten years. Plus, I’ve always believed that the reason the NFL decided to go to MetLife in New Jersey for a Super Bowl, was because it was located next to a major market that housed two NFL franchises. Please correct me if I’m wrong about that.

Here’s a look at the NFLPA survey issues from Cole DeRuse of “How Bout Those Chiefs” in a video called, “This is an EMBARRASSING look for the Chiefs” (11:42):

From FOX4KC, who revealed that the idea to add a rolling roof to Arrowhead and Kauffman Stadiums was rejected by taxpayers in 2006, but it would only have cost about $170… back then:

Well, I’ve said enough… besides, I can’t afford to get too upset and raise my blood pressure to dangerous levels. Back to football… and whether or not K.C. will sign L’Jarius Sneed or Chris Jones first… or at all.
