Chiefs Mancave Makeover

One of my cousins in the Dallas area shipped a house to a wooded area east of town that her and her husband bought. Then, years later shipped a bungalow that had previously been used as a classroom and her and her husband transformed that bungalow into a Mancave. Only problem was, it was for watching the Dallas Cowboys. Today, we’ll explore the Mancave idea, with the Chiefs in mind.

Definition

Even if you just hang a flag for the Chiefs up in a room of your house… that’s a Mancave. It could say, Chiefs Kingdom, or This is Chiefs Kingdom or just Chiefs… it really doesn’t matter, because, in that instance… your room becomes your Mancave. Now, it would be preferable if that flag was hung in the same room where you watch games, but that is not a requirement.

There are many different kinds of Chiefs flags these days… hang them all, we will love it! It’s popular to hang a Taylor Swift/Travis Kelce flag too:

Some Chiefs/Taylor Swift fans have begun to combine Swift and Kelce’s names (of course), “Swelce” as well as “Chiefties”…

Taylor Swift has an Album named “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” and Travis Kelce was born that year as well (Kelce will be 35 years old as of tomorrow, October 5). Taylor Swift named her album “1989” because she was born that year (and her 35th BD is coming up in two months, on December 13).

I’m not so sure how I feel about this flag with the name “Swift” bigger than “Kelce.” While my bet is that Travis doesn’t mind, his fans may take exception to that. The point is… hang a Chiefs flag. Any Chiefs flag, it doesn’t matter.

Next let’s explore the t-shirt market. You can spend loads of money or you can try to be thrifty. Here’s a $10 t-shirt from Etsy.com:

While red is my favorite color, it doesn’t make a great primary color when decorating a room. Here are some great examples of Chiefs Mancaves that have been decorated well:

Bringing some other colors in will help to make your mancave more diverse in it’s color scheme and may be more appreciated by others.

Don’t feel that you have to start out with a whole room makeover. Just do a little at a time.

Here’s a video by Todd Willoughby of Lee’s Summit, Missouri with a peak into his Chiefs Mancave (9:42):

You’ll notice he has autographed memorabilia, and that he’s used different colors to paint his walls. Like gray and white, which helps to offset the richness of the red you see in many of his framed pieces.

Willoughby shows us many different ways to display our Chiefs wares. You don’t need to worry about starting out with as much as he has hanging on his walls. It’s not a contest. His trophy case is a nice touch, but don’t feel the need to run right our and gather a bunch of stuff just to fill your space. A little can go a long, long ways.
