Chiefs: Mandatory Camp June 11

Laddie Morse

Football is back baby! The Kansas City Chiefs have finished Day One of their Mandatory Mini-camp in Kansas City. The players who were absent included: WR Xavier Worthy, RG Joe Thuney, DE BJ Thompson and placekicker Harrison Butker. Worthy was out as a precautionary measure. Thuney was still rehabbing his injured pectoral muscle. Thompson was admitted to the hospital last Thursday morning with a cardiac arrest and just went home on Monday. LB Leo Chenal, RB Isiah Pacheco and CB Jaylen Watson were “present but limited.”

The reason for Butker’s absence is unknown, but their is an article about him at Yahoo.sports.com called, “Chiefs’ Harrison Butker may be removed from kickoffs due to new NFL rules” that talks about what Special Teams coach Dave Toub has said about Butker not performing Kickoffs, with Justin Reid possibly taking his place occasionally, to get an extra defensive man on the field, someone who is more adept at tackling.

First, here’s a recap by Matt McMullen of the OTAs that have already taken place (2:51).

Here’s Travis Kelce addressing the media and talking about still feeling like a little kid when he comes into the building… all post Mandatory Practice observations (0:49):

.

Here’s Kelce’s whole post-practice press conference (10:08):

Here’s the Chiefs #1 RB Isiah Pacheco talking Louis Rees-Zammit being hard to take down (0:22):

Here’s Pacheco’s complete media post-practice interview (6:43):

Here’s Drue Tranquill talking about Travis Kelce and how he still loves to Practice even though he’s going into his 12th year.

The Chiefs Championship Culture is an obvious point Tranquill tries to make as well. Tranquill adds that he and his family love K.C. and knew last year that he wanted to be here long term.

Here’s Tranquill’s complete post-practice interview (7:15):

Tranquill cracks me up… “How about Isiah Pacheco everybody?!”

Wide Receivers at Mandatory Mini-camp (0:59).

Not a good sign when your first round pick… Xavier Worthy… drops the football (at the 46 second mark) when no one is even guarding him.
