I cannot add any real illumination to the events on Day two. I watched some film, but I really took Darian Kennard’s words as well as those of other Rookies and try to let it all sink in.

Darian Kennard (OT)

Today’s press conference said: “(I am) Soaking up everything I can.” That is precisely how I see these young players, interacting with one another and the media. They are basking in the Chief’s Camp Sunshine.

Kinnard made some other apropos remarks:

“A lot of teams asked(abt guard-tackle versatility) They never said, ‘Hey, we’re going to play you at guard.’ Some teams said, ‘Yeah, we see you as a guard.’ At the end of the day for me, it was coming in and trying to make an impact at whatever position that was. It’s pretty cool, coming in (Kansas City) sees me as a tackle. At the end of the day, I was going to compete for every job I could. It’s pretty reassuring that I can play tackle — a position I’ve been comfortable with. Now it’s just time to get working…The chip’s on my shoulder — but I’ve got to be smart-minded, keep my head down and work…First things first: I’ve got to compete for a job. Then I can keep carrying that chip on my shoulder against these other teams.”

The Video shows him ready to rock n’ roll. Kinnard sounds like a player that has his head square on his shoulders. The More I see of him, the more I like him!

Jaylen Watson (CB)

“Just press, I love pressing…I love getting my hands on people. I love the physicality. I like to get in my opponent’s head. That’s what I live for, so that’s what we’re going to do.”

Watson hates Losing and came to the right place!

Skyy Moore (WR)

Moore spoke about what we all knew intuitively. Reid’s playbook is complicated. He said:

“Really, just how detailed the playbook is…Everything matters, from your split to the route to the leverage of the corners. Everything. That’s definitely something — it’s not new, but it’s more amplified.”

Isiah Pacheco (RB)

Asked about the significance of choosing #10) “I definitely know who wore it And don’t feel any pressure. I’ve worn this number
before, my freshman year in college, and did a great job with it. It’s not the number, it’s the player and the
guy that’s wearing it. I’ve just got to go out there and execute wherever they need me.”

Justyn Ross (WR)

At the end of the day, as OC Eric Bieniemy says far too often, Justyn Ross will earn a role in the WR Room in 2022. There. I said it. Check back with me about this prediction in September.

“Just having Pat Mahomes — a great quarterback…Andy Reid — a great coach. It’s a good receiving group. It feels like a family here. I’ve only been here for like a day, but they treat me like family.” (Abt Not being drafted): “Of course, I’m ready to prove everybody wrong…But I’m just trying to fill my spot, play my part on the team and just see what I can do over the summer.”

That’s it in their own words.

Added Emphasis Malik Herring (DE)

I was gratified to read Matt McMullen’s view of Malik Herring with an added observation about Leo Chenal. Matt observe that Herring was “relentless.” That’s excellent news for the DE role that we have been worried about. Let’s hope it rolls forward to a determinate crescendo. What a welcome thing to occur for the Chiefs in UDFA Herring’s second year. Last year he was on the IR all year.

Clip of Aaron Ladd wrapping up Mother’s Day

I thought Aaron Ladd wrapped the day up by honoring Mothers everywhere in the rookie’s words. See the brief video, here: https://twitter.com/aaronladd0/status/1523397390077620229

Day two is in the books. Tomorrow is Day Three!

Watching RGR this evening – Ryan Tracy and Dan Harms are getting excited! That’s good news. The Chiefs are having fun with work to do!
