Chiefs: Moves to Make

With the trade for L’Jarius Sneed now final, their are a number of moves that GM Brett Veach could make. Let’s explore some of them now:

Bring Back DE Mike Danna

I don’t know if Veach needs to sign Danna for a multi-year deal or not, but Mike Danna needs to return until we see more development out of Felix Anudike-Uzomah.

Re-sign LT Donovan Smith

Even if Donovan Smith is looking for a deal with several years attched to it, Veach needs to attempt to re-sign him. No, Donovan Smith was not the best LT in the league last season but he was better than Orlando Brown Jr. as far as I’m concerned.

If K.C. decides to make either, or both. of those moves, they still need to use picks in the draft on both positions.

Find a Corner to Replace Sneed

Whils I’m generally unhappy with the trade of L’Jarius Sneed, I really don’t think that anyone can replace him. So… although the name of this section is “Fin a Corner to Replace Sneed: I have an understanding that this task is nearly impossible In any event, Signing Free Agent Xavien Howard could help a lot. I love the idea that CB Trent McDuffie has another top CB to bounce things off of.

Extend Center Creed Humphrey

Why wait until next offseason to do what can be done right now? Creed will be a Free Agent next offseason so let’s not let things get that far.

Extend LB Nick Botlon

Why wait until next offseason to do what can be done right now? Bolton will be a Free Agent next offseason so let’s not let things get that far.

Extend RG Trey Smith

Why wait until next offseason to do what can be done right now? Trey Smith will be a Free Agent next offseason so let’s not let things get that far.

Sign a Former Divisional Foe’s Player

The Chiefs have the opportunity to sign WR Hunter Renfro or Safety Justin Simmons. Renfro was with the Raiders for years and Simmons was with the Broncos for years as well.

Sign a Running Back

The Chiefs need another Running Back. It could be that re-signing Jerick McKinnon is the answer. Re-signing CEH is probably not, unless McKinnon is already on board because renewing the roster as it was last season brought about a Super Bowl victory and who can complain about that?
