Chiefs: My Favorite Wide Receiver

Laddie Morse

It’s not secret now, Justyn Ross is my favorite Kansas City Chiefs Wide Receiver. Yes, Sky Moore comes close, and just one year ago I predicted big things for him. I guess that will have to wait a year. Yes, I’m in love with Rashee Rice, and he just had a great game against the Arizona Cardinals with 8 receptions for 96 yards. You heard that right, Rashee had eight receptions and nearly broke the 100 yard receiving mark.

However, I have to take all these stats into consideration when I say, I’m predicting big things when it comes to WR Justyn Ross. Let’s start with what should be the grand finale:

.

.

Ross a top five wideout of all time? While I LOVE me some Justyn Ross, that sounds like a bit much, even for me. However, let’s take a look at some film:

.

.

Yes, all of those plays were in college while he was playing at Clemson and his QB was none other than Trevor Lawrence. The biggest news related to Ross has been his injury history. Here’s a chart in which the information is provided by draftsharks.com:

The Past is the Past

.

Since that time, when Ross was playing college ball, he signed with the Chiefs as a UDFA and has been getting care from the team’s physicians. John Dillon wrote a piece about Justyn Ross for Chiefs Wire in which he said:

.

“Ross missed all of the 2022 season due to an injury he sustained in college at Clemson, but was a highly touted prospect in last year’s draft class. If his training camp highlight reel is any indication, Ross could be destined for stardom in Andy Reid’s offense with Patrick Mahomes throwing him the ball.”

.

There is some irony in Randy Moss choosing Justyn Ross as a top five all time WR because ESPN has developed a segment called: “You Got MOSSED!

.

.

… when it was just a week ago than RedTribe made a pun called: “You Got Rossed:”

.

.

The question is, how good will Justyn Ross really be?

.

.

There was also a time when a Chiefs QB over threw Ross in the back of the end zone.

.

.

What’s clear is, if Justyn Ross can stay healthy, he has the moves to be a great one:

.

In Preseason Game One against the New Orleans Saints, Ross scored over the middle on a pin-point timing throw from Shane Buchelle:

.

Just a weeks ago, Justyn Ross was carted off the practice field, but showed up the very next day in Training Camp (in St. Joe), showing that he can bounce right back from minor injuries:

Indeed, Justyn Ross is going to be fun to watch! So, why is Justyn Ross my favorite wide receiver? I guess I’m a sucker for come-back stories.
