Here are the dates: Mon, Feb 26, 2024 – Mon, Mar 4, 2024. In case you haven’t paid attention, today is February 20th! The Combine begins in six days from today. What are the drills that I pay attention to?

.
Position-specific drills – I look closely at this for the aerial game — WRs and DBs tracking the ball for example or how well a QB passes the ball.

Medical Testing – physical and injury evaluation
Interviews – Who do team personnel interview
The S2 Test – testing Cognitive Intelligence Work? The test, which replaced the Wonderlic, has nine different segments, all of which are graded separately (sort of like the SAT).
Cybex Test – the Cybex testing mode allows the physical therapist to obtain baseline objective measurements of the force output of muscles surrounding the joint being tested.
Field Testing – I regard the 40-yard dash, broad jump, Vertical Leap, 3-cone drill, and the two shuttles as very important and position-specific drills as well. I watch more of these drills than the others. I can make judgments about how individual players performed when the numbers are made public. Specifically, I also pay attention to who Scouts, Execs, and Coaches interview. Sometimes the interviews are meant to be a diversion for other teams. Tis the season for deception.
That interview process is something that we are not privy to, but in my view, it’s how Team Officials determine the fit of an individual player to the team persona. I also view the S2 test as important. The public will not know much about what occurred in the interview or the results of the S2 test unless the Team Staff member makes the information available. The S2 Test results are not released to the public.
Top Executives, Coaching Staffs, Player Personnel Departments, and Medical Personnel – from all 32 NFL teams will be on hand to evaluate the nation’s top college football players eligible for the upcoming NFL Draft. This intense, four-day job interview is an exciting time for the athletes and a vital step in achieving their dreams of playing in the NFL.
Top Team Executives, Coaching Staff, Player Personnel Departments as well as Medical Personnel – from all 32 NFL teams will be present. As the NFL indicates, it allows teams to determine eligibility for their rosters. It is intense for the players. players consider it a complicated four-day job interview for the players to try to fulfill their NFL dreams.
Collegiate Pro Days – valuable results can be determined from the Pro Days!
RAS (Relative Athletic Score) – I use the RAS in my evaluations of players. Here is an example for CB Trent McDuffie two years ago (below). This tool is very useful and combines all the different measurements in one profile.

I have shown how I use numbers from varied sources and how I think the numbers are important to considering players for the Chiefs to draft. Have fun with it if you choose. Using other player evaluators? I particularly look to Ryan Tracy and Daniel Harms at RGR and add their views to my thoughts about doing a mock and in writing about the draft.
