Chiefs: Paul Pulley’s 5 Round Mock Draft
Round 1, Pick 32: Bryce Hall, CB, Virginia
At 6-1 and 202 pounds, Hall has long arms and very good coverage skills. Hall led the nation with 22 passes defenses as a Junior. He is solid against the run and has considerable experience blitzing, which will work well in Spagnuolo’s defense (see play #2 in the following video).
Hall has some ball-hawking ability, but only played in 6 games as a Senior due to breaking his left ankle that required surgery. Assuming he is cleared medically, Hall should be good to go as a starting CB as a rookie. Most of the “experts” consider Hall as a second round selection, but without the medical issue, he would have easily been in the conversation for the 1st round.
Round 2, Pick 63: Robert Hunt, OL, Louisiana-Lafayette
At 6-5 and 323 pounds, Hunt was a 4 year starter in college and has been a versatile lineman, starting at both tackle positions as well as left guard. Hunt is a good athlete for a big guy and will work well in a zone blocking scheme.
A potential first year starter as a guard, Hunt will need a couple off-seasons in the weight room and NFL training to be a potential replacement at right tackle.
Round 3, Pick 96: Adam Trautman, TE, Dayton
A 6-5 and 255 pound tight end out of Dayton is an excellent pass catching TE that will give QB Patrick Mahomes another excellent target.
Trautman will need time to learn blocking and routes. However, with tight end extraordinaire, Travis Kelce, under contract for two more seasons, after which Kelce will be 32 years old, Trautman should be ready to take over as the top TE for the Chiefs.
Round 4, Pick 138: Logan Wilson, LB, Wyoming
A 6-1 and 241 pounder, and a 4 year starter, Wilson was a tackling machine for Wyoming, averaging over 100 tackles per year, with over 30 tackles for loss for his career.
Wilson has excellent instincts and very good coverage ability, garnering 9 interceptions and double digit pass breakups for his career. Wilson will make an excellent special teamer as a rookie and will be ready for a starting role in his second season.
Round 5, Pick 177: Darrynton Evans, RB, Appalachian State
At 5-10 and 203 pounds, Evans ran a 4.41—40 at the combine. A speed back with good vision that can shoot gaps, get to the edge when necessary and a plus RB for the screen game.
Evans has great hands out of the backfield, catching 21 passes and scoring 5 receiving touchdowns, to go along with rushing for 1480 yards in 2019. Evans is an excellent kickoff returner, averaging 25 yards per return, scoring one return TD in each of his three seasons (here’s Darrynton Evans’ Kickoff return for a TD from 2016, his freshman year, when he wore #19).
His most impressive stat might be, 482 carries for Appalachian State with zero fumbles.
