Please give a warm welcome to new writer, Alan Haupt. Alan was born in Leavenworth, Kansas, in 1961. He lived in NE Kansas for 14 years and became an NFL fan at the age of 14, however, he was first a Steelers fan, since they were a powerhouse in the 1970s. Alan moved to SE Kansas and lived there for 14 years and became a Chiefs fan when Carl Peterson came, along with Marty Schottenheimer and they drafted Derrick Thomas. In his words, “I have been a diehard ever since.” Alan moved to Minnesota and lived there for 20 years, but, “I stayed a Chiefs Diehard.” He moved back to Missouri in 2013, which is meant to be his final home, on Lake of the Ozarks. In 2006 Alan was married for the second time, and the entire wedding theme was “K.C. Chiefs.” Alan says, “I have a 2007 Ranger Bass Boat, that is a perfect, special ordered, rendition of Chiefs Team Colors.” Alan has worked in the construction and welding field his whole life and been employed by Union Pacific since 1997. He’s loved all sports his whole life, but the NFL more than any other. Alan says, “Now for about 25 years I have been possessed by Sports talk shows, whether on television or radio, it doesn’t matter. Taking in sports knowledge, especially about the NFL, has occupied 75%of my private time. Talking or listening, seems as if i never tire from it.” Please help me welcome Alan Haupt to ArrowheadOne.

Chiefs: Recipe of a NFL Dynasty – There are many ingredients to long term greatness in the NFL. The salary cap during this era makes it difficult to accomplish, but the New England Patriots proved it can be done. Now that it appears their run is over, and it’s time to find the next dynasty.
The Base Structure
Organizational chemistry and cohesion must begin with the right owner, a top-rated President, and a high quality General Manager. Plus, top graded scouts, an exceptional Head Coach, highly skilled Offensive, Defensive, and Special Teams Coordinators along with top graded Position Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Training Instructors, and even Equipment Managers, and Doctors and other Medical Personnel.
Finally, the correct blend of players. Every single position from top to bottom must work very well together. Everyone must be willing to listen to others and must be willing to teach others, but they must also be willing to learn. They also must trust each other; and believe in each other.
Teamwork! Most always remains #1.
The Kansas City Chiefs can check all the boxes here. Winning the Super Bowl last year, through all the adversity that happened in 2019, proved they have the right people in place. Plus, very little has changed during the offseason.
Let’s take a look at what else Kansas City has done right in setting themselves up to be the next Dynasty in the NFL.
Egos and Greed: Check’em at the Door
The Kansas City Chiefs are all of that. That is something that Andy Reid has instilled from the very first day that he arrived in KC. We’ve witnessed this with Alex Smith and Patrick Mahomes. Alex was willing to teach Patrick everything, even though he knew he was his eventual replacement.
There are so many instances it’s difficult to name them all, where the circumstance of ego and true teamwork has happened since Reid’s been in charge. The most recent was this past draft. When someone asked Linebacker Anthony Hitchens as to what he had said when talking to new rookie Willie Gay Jr., his reply was:
“I texted [Willie Gay Jr.] the other day and he was asking me what he needed to learn. I told him, ‘learn the playbook, you have enough ability to play, obviously, we drafted you and I just can’t wait to work with you. I’m going to give you all of the knowledge that I know to the game so that you can give it to the next guy under you. That’s my biggest thing is just giving knowledge to the younger guys so they can keep passing it along, so to speak.”
Hitchens said this knowing that Willie could be his eventual replacement This kind of Team First Philosophy, shows that winning the Super Bowl has changed nothing moving forward and it must continue every year in order to build a dynasty.
The Right Mix of Players
The right mixture of players can be done in many different ways; but it must start with a franchise QB. A quarterback who can carry a team when needed and a QB needs to be clutch when under pressure. Now. Everyone seems to know Patrick Mahomes is the #1 franchise QB in the league, for at least the next decade, if not even longer.
In a Dynasty, players must be fast, strong, durable, and do their best to stay healthy. All of these fascists must be enhanced by their everyday lifestyle, beginning with proper health and diet. A player’s physical fitness must be self-induced 24/7. Showing up at team facilities out of shape is not acceptable. We have never seen Chiefs players not be season-ready since Andy Reid has been in Kansas City… perhaps except Breeland Speaks last year.
Evolving as Teammates and Players
Players must continue to strive to always improve their individual play. A high percentage of drafted players must perform every year and be utilized during their rookie season. Rosters cannot stay status quo from year to year and so it must be improved every season. This is where Brett Veach and his scouts have to continue to show their value year after year. They have done great so far, but success in the draft must continue, yearly.
Also, mastery of Free Agency and Salary Cap manipulation is the final ingredient to any successful dynasty.
I don’t see where the Kansas City Chiefs have failed on any of these long term goals. Only thing left for them to do is prove it on the field: to see if the batter was mixed the right way.
