Chiefs Sign Mahomes: Make Him the $400M Dollar Man – The Kansas City Chiefs have re-signed quarterback Patrick Mahomes to a new 10-year contract worth more than $400M dollars.
We all knew this was coming, ever since Mahomes went off on the league by throwing for more than 5,000 yards and 50 touchdowns in just his first season as a starter in 2018, only his second year in the league. However, with other player’s contracts waiting to get done this offseason, like Chris Jones, we just didn’t know when… until now.
One of the questions this raises is… just how much more than $400M will Mahomes tie up in salary cap?
Now, with Mahomes in the house for the next 10+ seasons, the biggest question on everyone’s mind is… will the Chiefs have enough cap money left over to sign players to make up a championship level roster… players like DT Chris Jones comes to mind.
With Mahomes scheduled to make nearly that much money in endorsements and commercial over the next decade, one would hope he’ll be willing to restructure so Brett Veach can make sure the Chiefs continue to be yearly contenders.
It’s nice to know one of his teammates approve!
Now, it appears that Patrick Mahomes can afford to buy as much Ketchup as he wants… and a Ferrari or two.
First the Super Bowl victory… and now this… what a year!
