Chiefs: Stock UP or Stock DOWN

Sometimes it doesn’t matter what happens in the offseason, a players stock can take a nose dive for nearly no reason at all. In the case of ex-Chiefs TE Jody Fortson his timing was off and his injuries played a big role in his being unable to fit in, and consequently, he’s now with the Miami Dolphins. Fortson played hsi college ball at Valdosta State and he was a UDFA for K.C. in 2019. He was tall and ended up as an athletic big man who needed to gain weight to stick with the team.

Wanya Morris stock is going up essentially because he not only filled in at Left Tackle last season but he’s also played some Left Guard this offseason. What does that mean? It may mean he is a long term replacement for Joe Thuney or it could be that OL Coach Andy Heck just wanted to get him some more reps. Ultimately it mean his Stock is Up.

In the absence of Charles Omenihu, FAU will become crucial as a fill in. Now, if he balls out and his play makes him a highly useful tool in Spags lineup, he may become a Stock Up player. It’s all a wait and see. Yes, ex-Chiefs Tamba Hali has been helping him out, so that’s alwasy a positive sign. Still, it seems like FAU’s Stock is Up… for now.

With LB-ing mate Drue Tranquill hitting the ceiling when Bolton was out last year, Bolton has had free reign to do what ever he pleases and it should all be all positives, not matter what happens with the the rest of the LB corp. That means Bolton’s Stock is Up, especially becasue Tranquill signed a deal with K.C. this offseason for 3-years and $19 M with $13 M guaranteed. Mind you, most people in the know believe Bolton is a better LB than Tranquill, even though Tranquill is very, very good… so….

Chamarri Conner plays the Safety position and was on an upward swing as the 2023 year ended. Here’s a breakdown of his play by Matt McMullen (1:42):

Conner will likely be the third Safety on the field behind Justin Reid and Bryan Cook and his size at 6-foot-0 and 206 lbs. should come in handy, especially if he can keep up his 4.51 speed which is very good for a bigger Safety DB.

CEH is not the best 1st round RB in the tool shed. He may have lost some luster since he came in to the NFL, and his over Stock may be Down, but if he plays his cards right, he could end up being useful this year.

With Jason Kelce retiring earlier this offseason, the Chiefs Offensive Center is now considered the outright best Center in the NFL. That basically means his Stock is Up.

When you look around the world of… whatever… Travis Kelce is everywhere. His value continues to rise and although it’s maybe as a result of his relationship with one very popular singer, in any case, his Stock is Up. Way up.

With the departure of L’Jarius Sneed, Trent McDuffie is “the man” in the Chiefs defensive backfield. Yes, it would be terrific is K.C. had re-signed LJ, but with him in the Titans backfield now, McDuffie’s Stock is Up. For sure.

Moore gained 250 yards receiving in 2022, and added 244 last season. If he keeps up this pace, he’ll reach 1,000 yards receiving in his 4th season… maybe. He just hasn’t worked out and although K.C. is keeping him around, that may only be because he was a second round pick by the Chiefs in the 2022 draft (pick #54). HIs Stock is Down, way down. Sadly.

What do you think? Who’s stock is up, or down, in your mind?
